I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 530: Chapter 529: Becoming More and More Accomplished

”Doctor Bei, so you’re here!” Peng Baocheng walked over with a smile, his gaze swept over Beisitian, and there was a hint of admiration in his eyes.

This dress does look even better on her!

”Only on Doctor Bei can this dress show its full beauty!” Peng Baocheng said with a smile.

Beisitian withdrew her gaze from the crowd, smiled faintly, ”Boss Peng, you’re too kind. Without good craftsmanship and efficiency, I wouldn’t be wearing it today.”

As Beisitian and Peng Baocheng chatted, not far away, four ladies were taken by surprise upon seeing them. They certainly knew Peng Baocheng, a returned overseas Chinese, a real estate tycoon, who also engaged in import-export trade and auxiliary food products. While his connections in the country might be somewhat weak, he was quite well-connected abroad, and many companies looking to expand abroad wanted to become acquainted with President Peng.

Zou Jie and Feng Yun exchanged glances. Their relationship was different from the other two, having been afternoon tea companions before. At that moment, they both saw the astonishment in each other’s eyes.

This President Peng returned from abroad with high standards and was not the type to be amiably smiling at just anyone. Now, seeing him smiling so happily at a woman of no particular status was indeed something new.

Zou Jie was fine; her family were all military, and the likelihood of collaborating with Peng Baocheng was small, at most just friendly relations, but Feng Yun was different. They had come this time truly hoping to become acquainted with Peng Baocheng.

Before coming, Xu Hengli of Shengshi Group, Feng Yun’s husband, had been trying to find someone to introduce him. Unfortunately, among the attending bosses, few had deep connections with Peng Baocheng.

Xu Hengli could only try his luck here, hoping to make connections without appearing too deliberate, which was difficult, especially when faced with a sophisticated person.

Feng Yun noticed that Beisitian’s demeanor towards Peng Baocheng was the same as when she had talked to them earlier: calm, with a constant faint smile on her face.

If one said Beisitian didn’t know them, that was possible, but Peng Baocheng had approached her to talk, so they must know each other. Yet, facing Peng Baocheng, her expression remained unchanged.

Looking at Beisitian now, though her demeanor was the same, Feng Yun felt she seemed more composed.

As Feng Yun watched Beisitian, her eyes flashed momentarily. Did this woman have some background they didn’t know about, or was she an old acquaintance of Peng Baocheng?

The four women, while chatting about unrelated topics, focused their attention on her and Peng Baocheng.

Beisitian chatted with Peng Baocheng for a moment before her gaze fell on a girl around ten years old in the crowd, and she asked, ”Does Boss Peng know that person?”

She wasn’t asking about the girl, but about the pot-bellied man beside her.

”That’s a real estate boss from Beijing. He recently acquired land and plans to build, and he’s acquainted with the chairman of Shenghua Group, which earned him an invitation,” Peng Baocheng explained.

He was actually curious, did Beisitian know the chairman of Shenghua Group, or perhaps knew the chairman’s wife? Otherwise, how could she have an invitation?

However, he couldn’t conveniently ask this.

”Who’s the girl standing next to him?” Beisitian asked.

Peng Baocheng glanced and nonchalantly said, ”Boss Zhu is naturally flirtatious. Since divorcing his previous wife, he hasn’t remarried, and women around him have been unending. I haven’t seen this one before; probably a new one.”

Beisitian didn’t miss the disdain in his eyes.

Such matters might be normal for many men, but bringing these unseemly women to such occasions was unconventional. This Zhu in real estate didn’t care much about private life, nor about face, and such a person was not someone Peng Baolai would want to associate with.

Beisitian was asking about this because the girl was Beisisi!

Upon hearing Peng Baocheng’s words, Beisitian raised an eyebrow. Beisisi was indeed becoming more accomplished, already starting these antics.

”Does Doctor Bei know her?” Peng Baocheng asked.

Usually, people don’t ask about someone’s background without reason.

”I know her, but not well,” Beisitian replied.

Peng Baocheng understood; those five words had already explained the relationship between Beisitian and that girl.

Boss Zhu, glancing over occasionally, was hovering around Peng Baocheng. Being in real estate, and Peng Baolai being a magnate in the industry, they were originally competitors. However, Peng Baolai’s business was substantial, far beyond Boss Zhu’s, hence if he could foster good relations with Peng Baolai, even a mere crumb from him would be enough for Boss Zhu to live lavishly.

So when Peng Baocheng’s gaze swept over, Boss Zhu, who had been watching, immediately smiled and nodded, then naturally walked over.

”President Peng, I’ve been wanting to visit you but never had the chance. I didn’t expect to meet at this banquet, so it seems we are fated!” Boss Zhu, with his fat head and ears, stood out in this not-so-extravagant era, reflecting how indulgent he was.

Peng Baocheng nodded indifferently, not speaking, intending to continue chatting with Beisitian to indicate to Zhu that he wasn’t welcome here, hoping he would voluntarily retreat, when he heard the girl beside him speak.

”I wondered who it was; turns out it’s my dear sister.” Beisisi said, holding Boss Zhu’s arm, looking at Beisitian with a sarcastic tone.

Peng Baocheng was taken aback. This girl was Doctor Bei’s sister? Impossible!

Beisitian remained calm, ”You’re exaggerating; it’s best if we don’t play the kinship card.” It would make her nauseous.

Beisisi sneered, ”Play the kinship card? Ha ha...” Her laughter was full of mockery, her face brimming with endless smugness, as if ridiculing Beisitian’s ignorance and ambition.

Thinking of the future when she married Boss Zhu, she’d be the wife of a wealthy business tycoon, attending such banquets often, wearing beautiful dresses at will, worry-free about food and drink, living in a splendid big house, buying whatever she wanted. Just imagining such a life made her feel happy.

Beisisi had always wanted to live a high-class life, and now she had the opportunity; she wouldn’t give it up, even if the other party were a pig, so long as it was a wealthy pig, she wouldn’t mind!

Beisisi’s mocking laughter made Boss Zhu beside her frown. He raised his eyes to look at Peng Baocheng; now he couldn’t gauge the relationship between Peng Baocheng and this beautiful woman. If this beautiful woman were similar to Beisisi, it wouldn’t be a problem; maybe he could play with her later or perhaps swap with someone.

Although the likelihood was high, Boss Zhu was always cautious, not revealing anything on his face until he was certain, discreetly asked, ”Does Sisi know this lady?”

Beisisi heard the words, pursed her lips, and looked up, ”This is the sister Sisi mentioned to you.”
