I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 528: Chapter 257: The Invitation Symbolizing Status

Beisitian gestured, and Mrs. Qin immediately said it looked great. When Peng Baocheng left, she asked, ”I heard from that person earlier, is this dress designed by you?”

Beisitian smiled, ”I’m not that skilled, I just combined styles from both Eastern and Western influences.”

She was being honest; there wasn’t a single element she had designed herself, it was all a combination of images in her mind.

”It looks great. I’m sure Little Tian’er would look particularly pretty in it.” Mrs. Qin complimented with a smile.

Beisitian smiled with her lips closed, put away the gown, and waited to wear it in the evening.

After lunch, Beisitian took a long nap, sleeping until four in the afternoon. She felt much more refreshed when she got up, though if she continued to sleep, she probably could have.

Although there weren’t any issues during pregnancy, her energy levels were really not great; she was sleeping too much.

After a bit of tidying up, Beisitian dressed in the gown, and the horn sounded outside—it was Chen Jinliang who had arrived.

Mrs. Qin saw her to the door, advising her not to return too late and to be careful in crowded places to avoid getting bumped. Beisitian nodded in agreement before getting into the car.

Their destination was a large hotel near Chang’an Street, lavishly decorated, with a red carpet sprawled at the entrance. As soon as Chen Jinliang parked the car, a doorman ran over to valet park.

Chen Jinliang, in a military uniform, looked very smart as he followed behind Beisitian.

Beisitian took out her invitation and handed it to the person at the door. After one glance at the invitation, they were let inside.

As they entered, Beisitian slightly turned her head and noticed that everyone’s invitation seemed different. Hers was white with gold trim, while others had red with gold trim and gold with red trim.

She didn’t know that the three types of invitations represented status: red with gold trim was for local officials and high-ranking military officers, gold with red trim was for big company CEOs.

And white with gold trim was for heads of potential enterprises, merely heads, maybe representing the legal entity for certain rights but unable to fully delegate. Such individuals were generally not very respected at such events, but for certain purposes and social interaction, they were still invited.

The invitation in Beisitian’s hand was the lowest level invitation.

Beisitian observed for a moment and understood the implication, shaking her head secretly. Shao Simin was not only short-sighted and petty but also incredibly narrow-minded. She invited Beisitian to calm Luo Xuhua down but used the lowest level invitation, showing no sincerity at all. Did she think Luo Xuhua was a fool?

Sometimes, the bond between spouses erodes bit by bit like this. Although such a small thing wouldn’t affect them greatly, Luo Xuhua would certainly be disappointed with Shao Simin. This happening repeatedly could make even the most patient person feel irritated.

Beisitian didn’t mind. Her goal was to see the gala; getting in was enough, no need to fuss over those details.

Accompanied by Chen Jinliang, Beisitian arrived at a corner near the balcony, where there was a buffet table, though only some snacks were served at the moment.

This event leaned more towards a Western style, which Beisitian found refreshing. Looking at the food on the table, she picked up a small delicate plate and slowly cut a piece, leisurely eating it.

Though Beisitian stood at the corner, she still attracted the attention of some ladies, naturally because of her attire. Her dress was elegant but not vulgar, and it had a Chinese flair while being quite fashionable. The three-quarter sleeves and knee-length skirt didn’t come off as informal either.

The country’s current style remained quite conservative, with skirts generally reaching the knees, but many similar skirts often looked old-fashioned. Beisitian’s style managed to bring a fresh novelty.

The red and white dress, along with the row of black frog buttons and embroidered patterns on the chest, stood out among the array of gowns, leaving many intrigued by the unique design.

Beisitian stood alone there, with a soldier standing behind her, obviously a military family member. However, someone noticed when she entered that she held a white-with-gold invitation, suggesting the family had no particular background.

The lights suddenly dimmed, leaving a spotlight shining on the stage. Luo Xuhua stood on stage giving a speech. Though he lacked outstanding looks, his mature charm as an adult man, along with a calm and composed demeanor, drew much attention. Shao Simin watched her husband, her eyes gleaming with the admiration and envy from those around her, feeling very proud.

After Luo Xuhua’s speech, he invited someone else on stage to speak. This person was a city party secretary, and although it was a second-tier city, he was still a heavyweight figure.

This was likely one of the two officials, but clearly, this person’s status was more significant, having been invited on stage.

Beisitian was only there to observe, knowing that progress in business shouldn’t be rushed. It was important to seize the right opportunity; going forward rashly would make people think you had ulterior motives, though admittedly, there were ulterior motives.

After the Jinbei City party secretary finished speaking, the atmosphere in the venue noticeably warmed up, and the donation ceremony soon began. One after another went on stage to donate, which businesses had essentially pre-arranged. With many charity galas happening often, even those who wanted to stand out couldn’t do so every time.

People placed cards into the red box at the front. Those cards would indicate which company, and how much the foundation funds were.

Beisitian looked at the scene, regardless of their sincerity, at least the donations were real. As long as the money didn’t end up elsewhere and was truly used for charity, there would indeed be a record of merit in their name.

The gala featured a Western buffet format. Once certain procedures were completed, it turned into a time for company owners to socialize, which for them, was the main event!

Many ladies gathered together, often exchanging small talk, but from such conversations, a lot of crucial information could often be gleaned. They usually didn’t discuss business but started talking about cosmetics, moving onto jewelry and clothes, with someone recalling a woman they saw earlier.

”Did you see that person? Her gown is quite innovative and unique,” a lady gently raised her glass, gesturing towards Beisitian.

They were all very mindful of etiquette and would never point at someone.

Not only did she notice, but others did too, looking at Beisitian and complimenting the design, thinking the style was very nice. Even if one had put on a little weight, it wasn’t noticeable, yet elegance was displayed. This was especially appealing since, after all, everyone had children, and how many could maintain their pre-motherhood figure?

”Why don’t we go over and say hello?” one of the ladies suggested.
