I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 538: Chapter 537: Refusal

”By the way, Sitiang, where did you buy your dress? It was really stunning when I saw it yesterday!” Shao Simin sat down next to Beisitian.

”Yunyi, the clothing store owned by Boss Peng.” Beisitian replied.

Shao Simin showed a look of surprise, ”It was just President Peng earlier, right? I’ve heard he opened a clothing store, but he’s always been low-key about it.”

Beisitian saw her pretending and couldn’t help but laugh; Boss Peng had mentioned it in front of everyone yesterday, yet she was still pretending not to know.

Shao Simin saw her laugh, so she leaned closer and said, ”Sitiang, accompany me there, will you? I also want to see if there are any suitable dresses.”

Beisitian gently stroked her belly and smiled, ”My belly is getting bigger, it’s inconvenient. I was exhausted after coming back from the party the other day. I’ll give the address to my sister-in-law, let Brother take you.”

Shao Simin’s smile was somewhat forced. This was the second time Beisitian had refused her; the first time was when she rejected her hand in front of so many people!

Beisitian was also aiming to remind Shao Simin that, although she invited her to the party with her own intentions, she still went there, pregnant. No matter what your intentions were, you have to consider that she’s a pregnant woman. Ignoring this and only focusing on your own intentions, she gave Shao Simin no face at all and simply refused.

Beside them, Luo Xuhua did not want his wife to feel awkward and quickly said, ”That’s right, Sitiang’s belly is big, it’s inconvenient. I’ll accompany you when the time comes.”

If you want to strengthen relations, you must consider the other’s physical condition. Shao Simin has been somewhat inflated in recent years, losing the mentality of taking one step at a time like before, losing insight in some matters.

Especially with Luo Xudong and Beisitian, it’s particularly evident. Luo Xuhua sighed silently.

Luo Xuhua looked deeply at Beisitian. If he still couldn’t see Beisitian’s uniqueness now, he would really be blind. Perhaps he had noticed something earlier but dismissed it due to Beisitian’s background.

Luo Xuhua never had thoughts of underestimating Beisitian. Back in Kao Village, he noticed Beisitian’s uniqueness. At that time, he hoped his brother was alive and could be with Beisitian, and it eventually happened. He was happy for his brother to have such a wife who was a great support to Luo Xudong.

Even though he knew she was different, he didn’t expect her to be so capable!

A sense of lost opportunity rose from the bottom of his heart.

This time, Luo Xuhua had come to figure out the relationship between Beisitian, Peng Baocheng, and Ma Tianlai. Beisitian clearly told him, and he got the answer, but it felt like seeing flowers through fog, leaving him even more puzzled.

With such wealthy bosses, what doctor couldn’t they invite? Their polite attitude towards Beisitian was unusual enough, and this matter brought to mind the encounter with the Wei Family at the Tian Family, which was even more unusual.

Now Beisitian is no longer just a simple rural village woman; she is surrounded by a veil he cannot see through.

Luo Xuhua and his wife left, having found out what they wanted but returned fruitlessly!

Just after they left, Peng Baocheng returned, hurriedly walking in, with sweat on his forehead, and exclaimed upon entering: ”Doctor Bei! Doctor Bei! My wife... she can swallow!”

After Peng Baocheng spoke, seeing that Beisitian didn’t react much, he continued: ”Doctor Bei, could you come and see her? She really swallowed, I saw it myself!”

Beisitian smiled, ”Boss Peng, please don’t worry, have a seat.”

Peng Baocheng couldn’t sit down; he didn’t know whether to be happy or not. At least, this was his wife’s first reaction since the car accident!

”Drink the medicine I’ve given you for two days, then I’ll come and see.” Beisitian said.

”Then... then...” Peng Baocheng hoped Beisitian could go now.

”Rest assured, Boss Peng, this is a normal reaction, indicating the medicine is effective. After this medication, I’ll perform acupuncture therapy, taking the treatment further, so proceed step by step now.” Beisitian understood his feelings and explained further.

In fact, such patients aren’t completely unresponsive. Depending on the severity, some have no reactions at all, seemingly like living dead, but others can exhibit swallowing and yawning responses.

Ning Jiayin, who couldn’t do anything initially, could now swallow, indicating the medicine is working fast.

Thinking carefully, Beisitian reflected that with acupuncture therapy, there might be groundbreaking progress in ten days or so. The medication after acupuncture is quite particular, so she needed to consider it carefully.

In the past two days, Luo Jiali had always come to find her, envying her for having an independent yard and being able to be with her family.

”Is the start date decided?” Beisitian asked.

”I got the notice in the past two days, just right to play more before actually starting. It’s my first time in Beijing; it’s a pity you’re pregnant, or I would have dragged you around.” Luo Jiali sat on the stone bench, holding a cup of juice.

”I haven’t really toured much.” Beisitian realized she seemed always busy.

”There’s always a chance.” Luo Jiali took a sip of juice, her smile slightly restrained, ”I need to tell you something.”

Beisitian noticed her expression and nodded, ”Go ahead.”

”The Mei Family wants to use my connection to meet you, seemingly trying to connect with the Tian Family through you.” Luo Jiali slightly lowered her eyes and continued, ”But as far as I know, the Tian Family and Mei Family have similar overall strengths, so Mei Family doesn’t need to go to such lengths to connect with the Tian Family.”

”So?”

”I feel they have a motive for contacting the Tian Family, so I refused my aunt. But my aunt is very troubled in the middle.”

”What do you mean?”

”Whether you are aware or not, it’s better to clarify with them early. It’s exhausting to be entangled between two families.”

”Are you favoring outsiders over your own family?”

”How can you say that? I have no relation with the Mei Family; they shouldn’t be making random plans. Besides, I always uphold fairness, my only hardship is putting my aunt in a troublesome situation being stuck in between.” Luo Jiali shook her head and sighed.

If she were with Tian Lei, she would face a whole family of people. Thinking about this made her sigh uncontrollably, then realized her thoughts, her face quickly turning red.

Seeing Luo Jiali lost in thought, Beisitian felt a warmth in her heart, realizing she had found a good friend unintentionally.

Luo Jiali might not know, but Beisitian roughly understood the Mei Family’s intent; they were likely targeting her.
