I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 512: Chapter 511: Doctor Bei’s Husband

Hearing Beisitian’s words, Su Lan’s face lit up with joy. She knew Beisitian wouldn’t remain inactive for long. With abilities like hers, it was merely a question of whether she wanted to act.

Tian Qingyun’s capabilities were beyond question. She had always been a manager, with excellent skills in both handling matters and winning people over. Her management methods were very effective, and she was bound to be utilized importantly.

Now it seems like Beisitian is ready to use her!

Su Lan left happily.

Ma Tianlai was having some difficulty with the issue of the office address. He was considered an overseas Chinese now, and while it wasn’t impossible for him to buy or sell property, the process was extremely cumbersome. Moreover, he hadn’t expanded his connections on the Mainland yet. Solving this issue would take quite some time.

Even if Beisitian was willing to wait, Ma Tianlai was not. He was eager to enter the Mainland market, and now was the perfect opportunity to both establish connections with Doctor Bei and open up the market. Once he grew successful, he could clean up his past, achieving multiple goals at once. How could he let an office address hold him up?

Ma Tianlai knew that Beisitian had connections. If she wanted to use them, she could, so he explained the situation to her and hoped she would come up with a solution.

After Beisitian hung up the phone, Luo Xudong gently wrapped his arm around her shoulders and said in a deep voice, ”I can help you with this, but in exchange, you have to spend a night with me.”

Hearing his flippant comment, Beisitian gave him a playful glare and said with a smile, ”Ma Tianlai wants to directly buy an office building, including the land.”

Luo Xudong’s hands wandered mischievously under Beisitian’s clothes. With a raised eyebrow, he said, ”His appetite is quite large. His time in the Mainland has been too short, and while starting at a high point isn’t impossible, after all with you here, his connections and resources are limited. Taking such a big step might cause him to fall flat.”

Pfft...

Beisitian almost laughed out loud, looking at Luo Xudong’s somewhat rogue handsome face. She chuckled softly, ”Is this how you talked in the army?”

Luo Xudong glanced at her but neither confirmed nor denied it. His habit of being reticent was developed during his infiltration days. The less one said, the fewer mistakes one made, so he simply talked less.

That was indeed part of his nature, speaking coarsely at times—usually reserved for banter with his fellow soldiers. There were even rougher words he naturally wouldn’t say in front of Beisitian.

Beisitian found this side of him quite refreshing. Afraid that if she pressed more, Luo Xudong might not show this side again, she changed the subject, not wanting to linger on this point.

”Ma Tianlai wants to quickly break into the Mainland market. He’s afraid to stay in Hong Kong any longer. You could say he abandoned his career to develop in the Mainland. Used to being a big boss, he fled to avoid trouble and naturally wants to develop quickly. However, it’s likely quite difficult to regain his influence from Hong Kong here.”

Beisitian suppressed the restless hand through her clothes, glaring as she analyzed. That mischievous hand nearly disrupted her train of thought.

Luo Xudong had no intention of stopping. Seeing Beisitian’s coquettish look made his heart race. However, to ease Beisitian’s mood, he smiled and said, ”That’s why I said I can help you.”

Originally, he didn’t plan to get involved with these issues. No matter what Beisitian did, he would support her. But now that Ma Tianlai was at a low point, recruiting him could provide a significant boost for Beisitian.

Because Ma Tianlai wasn’t truly down; it was just a temporary setback. He would undoubtedly rise again.

Beisitian had the heart, but she lacked experience, which is why he decided to lend a hand at this time.

Although he refrained from participating or offering opinions, he was always attentive to Beisitian’s matters. The more strength they had, the more secure they would be.

The next day, Beisitian called Ma Tianlai, informing him that someone would coordinate with him about the office address.

Ma Tianlai assumed that Beisitian intended to contact Old General Wu. Although it wasn’t a big deal, involving Old General Wu would certainly get things done. He had money but couldn’t buy land. Even if there were office buildings ready to be sold to him, the prices they were asking assumed he was a fool!

Shortly after Beisitian ended the call, a strange number called, asking to meet to discuss the office address.

Ma Tianlai didn’t expect someone to reach out so quickly. They arranged to meet at a teahouse near the North Sea, where the other party turned out to be a young man in his thirties.

”Are you sent by Old General Wu?” Ma Tianlai chatted amiably, not underestimating the younger man, wanting to establish some rapport.

The man’s name was Wang Lihe. Hearing this, he shook his head and said, ”No, Mr. Luo sent me.”

”Mr. Luo?” Ma Tianlai was a bit taken aback; he didn’t know any Mr. Luo.

”You don’t know Mr. Luo, but you should know his wife. Her name is Beisitian.” Wang Lihe smiled gently.

With a gentle demeanor and glasses, Wang Lihe looked like a savvy, socially adept white-collar worker.

Ma Tianlai suddenly understood—it was Doctor Bei’s husband’s connection!

Ma Tianlai’s confusion didn’t completely fade. He only had a vague impression of Doctor Bei’s husband. Wasn’t he some kind of soldier, a company commander or a battalion commander? Anyway, he seemed inconspicuous and made very little impression.

Not being someone sent by Old General Wu was a bit disappointing for Ma Tianlai. However, out of respect for Beisitian, he didn’t want to put on airs. After all, they had come to help him, but he couldn’t help harboring some slight disdain, though he kept it to himself.

A soldier, even if he’s a company or battalion commander, what can he do? His network would be limited to the military, and even then only at a mid-low level.

To put it bluntly, the connections a company or battalion commander could muster were equivalent to what he, with his overseas Chinese status and business background, could find. So this might still be a futile effort!

Though prepared mentally, Ma Tianlai didn’t show it. Since the man was sent by Doctor Bei’s husband, he had to give face; otherwise, he’d indirectly affront Doctor Bei.

”Mr. Ma, have any of the places you previously considered caught your interest?” Wang Lihe asked as he looked at Ma Tianlai.

”There are, but they’re too expensive. Although land and properties in the Capital cost more than most places, their asking prices are three to four times the market value—it’s simply unacceptable!” Ma Tianlai expressed.

He had his eye on three buildings, all located near the developing Third Ring area. Once the Third Ring opened to traffic, the value would skyrocket along with transportation. Unfortunately, the prices were just too high.

”If push comes to shove, I plan to rent two floors for office space and slowly search for prime land to develop with a builder!” Ma Tianlai stated boldly.

He said this not to boast, but to inform Wang Lihe of his backup plan. If you really can’t do anything, don’t stress.

He didn’t want to waste too much time.

Wang Lihe nodded and placed three manila envelopes on the table, pushing them towards Ma Tianlai. ”Take a look at these three locations.”
