I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 248: Chapter 247: Really? You Do?

Everyone, please look at the author’s words after the Chapter!!

...

”Doctor Xiao Bei?” This was the first time Shen Junping saw Beisitian with such a gaze, the same look she gave Sister Yu. Back then, he only thought she was being a bit rude, unaware that she was carefully observing people’s faces.

Beisitian’s dark eyes sparkled as she said to Shen Junping, ”Doctor Shen, perhaps we should examine again.”

Shen Junping’s heart skipped a beat, and he nodded, ”Okay, we should indeed check again.”

Seeing that Beisitian remained calm, he naturally agreed.

The tests were targeted; Shen Junping asked Zhou Aihua about her symptoms in detail and then frowned.

”I’ve had a slight fever these days, mostly in the afternoon, but the symptoms improve by evening, and I feel better. At night, I have vivid dreams, and during the day, I lack energy. If you could prescribe some sleep aid medication, that would be great,” Zhou Aihua said.

She lacks focus in class, and her grades are significantly affected.

The more Shen Junping listened, the more he frowned deeply. He glanced at Beisitian, who had followed him here.

”Doctor Xiao Bei, what do you think?”

”Lung yin deficiency, with internal heat developing, this is a sign of internal deficiency and heat, leading to insufficient qi, which causes the low fever in the afternoon, poor sleep with many dreams, possibly the infliction of lung disease!” Beisitian noted as she walked.

Disease infestation?

This must be a term from traditional Chinese medicine; lung disease is tuberculosis... indeed!

Shen Junping frowned tightly; the tests were now targeted. Because there were few people, the results came in twenty minutes, finding tuberculosis bacteria in the sputum smear, meaning this child indeed had pulmonary tuberculosis!

Early tuberculosis is easily overlooked, often mistaken for a fever or cold, especially during seasonal changes. He almost made a huge mistake!

Early detection and treatment of tuberculosis can lead to a cure, but if discovered late... the consequences are unthinkable.

The thought that he almost misdiagnosed scared Shen Junping into a cold sweat.

Shen Junping explained the situation to Sister-in-law Zhang and advised her to take the child to a major hospital for treatment immediately.

Sister-in-law Zhang turned pale with fright and quickly thanked Shen Junping. Shen Junping wanted to credit Beisitian, but when he turned around, he couldn’t find her, so he accepted the thanks and watched them leave hastily.

”Doctor Xiao Bei, can you treat this disease?” Back in the consultation room, seeing Beisitian seated there, he too sat down and asked.

”Yes.”

Shen Junping opened his mouth. If she could, why didn’t she treat the child earlier?

Beisitian noticed his confusion and said, ”If I were to treat it, I’d need a specific Chinese herb, which isn’t easy to find.”

”What herb?” Tian Lei asked.

”Dendrobium,” Beisitian replied.

Dendrobium is a rare Chinese herb, ranked among the top-grade herbs. Wild ones are almost extinct, artificial cultivation is very difficult, and it’s expensive, not to mention unavailable for purchase.

Dendrobium is a top-grade herb for nourishing yin and moistening the lungs!

The reason Beisitian didn’t offer is that modern technology makes early-stage tuberculosis treatment not particularly difficult. Since it can be treated, why waste the effort?

”It’s indeed hard to find.” Tian Lei nodded.

Shen Junping remained silent. Honestly, he didn’t even know what it was, so he couldn’t comment on its availability, so he refrained from saying more.

But all three people in the Third Consultation Room were truly convinced by Beisitian’s display of skill.

”Xiao Bei, you’re amazing!” Tian Lei looked at Beisitian with bright eyes, full of joy, as if he was happier than diagnosing it himself.

Beisitian shook her head, ”Most Chinese doctors can observe faces, especially experienced old Chinese doctors who can tell a lot from a person’s face.”

Western medical culture has been in China for quite some time now, and most people believe in Western medicine. Even some, like Shen Junping, have more understanding of Western medicine than their own country’s essence.

This is why Beisitian feels saddened.

But she also had to admit, Western medicine has its strong advantages: quick results, short courses, and systemic learning processes that are relatively easy.

Traditional Chinese medicine previously emphasized inheritance because the same prescription varies by practitioner, leading to different effects.

Having high comprehension and patience is required to study Chinese medicine, needing detailed observation and in-depth thought. Western medicine, relying on instruments, allows approximate judgment based on data even without much experience.

This is why more people are learning Western medicine, and Chinese medicine is gradually declining.

The atmosphere in the Third Consultation Room became increasingly harmonious, even Qi Xiu Hui spoke more, occasionally chatting with the other two, which was rare.

One day, Ding Sisi stopped Tian Lei, glaring and asking, ”Why are you treating the little Chinese doctor so differently?”

Tian Lei looked coldly at Ding Sisi, in stark contrast to his attitude towards Beisitian.

”Not speaking? Could it be you’ve fallen for her? She’s already married!” Ding Sisi exclaimed, mouth agape.

Honestly, she felt somewhat upset, as she thought Tian Lei, her classmate, should have more interaction with her, and if he liked someone, it should be her. How could he like a married woman!

A village girl yet!

A Chinese medicine practitioner yet!

Randomly listing things, Ding Sisi could find a lot of faults in Beisitian. Was Tian Lei blind to not see them?

”What nonsense are you spouting!” Tian Lei frowned, sharply gazing at Ding Sisi.

Startled by Tian Lei’s look, Ding Sisi backed up a few steps, never imagining such a terrifying look from the usually gentle Tian Lei. She felt she had discovered an extraordinary truth!

”You, you really...” Ding Sisi said, incredulous.

Tian Lei’s gaze turned steely, and he took a step forward, grabbing Ding Sisi’s shoulder. She felt a piercing pain, and tears streamed down her face.

”If you dare spread rumors, I don’t care if you’re a woman!” Tian Lei said sternly.

He despised such gossiping girls. Even during school, he disliked Ding Sisi, but as a gentleman, he chose not to show it. But she kept bothering him.

This time it involved Beisitian, and if she carelessly spread rumors, it would severely impact Beisitian. Lest one forget, this was the military, where marriages are protected!

Ding Sisi, seeing that Tian Lei wasn’t merely frightening her, turned pale with fright, abandoning the urge to publicly declare their ”affair.”

If she blabbed, she feared Tian Lei might actually take action against her!

Getting hit by a guy for gossiping would be humiliating if word got out!
