I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 256: Chapter 255: Pleading with Sister-in-law for Help

Please read the ’Author’s Note’ at the end of the Chapter, it is extremely important!!

...

Although the artistic soldiers call her Sister Chai, Chai Xiaohu is actually only about twenty-five or six years old.

After preliminary inspection, Chai Xiaohu was diagnosed with a rib fracture and ankle ligament strain.

This is undoubtedly a significant blow to the artistic soldiers, especially those preparing for the new recruits’ welcome party!

Hearing this news, the pretty artistic soldier earlier took a few steps back in panic, tears streaming down her cheeks.

”It’s my fault! It’s my fault!”

”Li Ying, don’t cry, it wasn’t intentional. Let’s wait for the X-ray results. Maybe it’s not that serious!”

Li Ying squatted on the ground, crying and muttering that it was her fault. No amount of persuasion from the surrounding artistic soldiers worked.

Beisitian watched the whole CT scanning process. Holding the translucent film, she widened her eyes. Modern medicine indeed can capture the internal contours so clearly, showing exactly where the fracture is and its degree of severity.

Though Beisitian lacked knowledge of Western medicine, she was very familiar with the human body’s structure, so she understood the film with just two pointers from Shen Junping.

Shen Junping couldn’t help but marvel, Beisitian’s type of Chinese medicine practitioner was truly rare. While typical Chinese medicine practitioners are more sensitive to changes in internal organs, they’re less adept at outlining each part of the human body compared to Western doctors. However, from Beisitian’s look, she clearly understood.

Shen Junping printed an extra film for Beisitian to study specifically.

”Doctor Shen, besides the film, aren’t there results too?” Beisitian asked.

The film and results are separate; the film can be printed immediately, but the results take a little time.

”We’re part of the military health team, so the number of people taking X-rays is finite. If this were a city hospital, you’d wait at least thirty or forty minutes for the film, and three days for the results!” Shen Junping shook his head and explained seeing Beisitian’s ’so slow’ expression.

”Our health team is considered high-end. The biggest reason the facilities are so complete is that elder leaders or retired officials come here for check-ups annually; otherwise, we wouldn’t have such complete equipment.” Shen Junping had the feeling she didn’t appreciate what she had.

Indeed, typical health teams wouldn’t have such comprehensive facilities, mainly because it’s a designated medical institution for check-ups.

However, speaking of it, a division-level establishment should be a hospital. But due to early policies advocating simplicity, the hospital became a health team. Though small, the health team is built according to standard hospital specifications in personnel and equipment. After all, it’s a division-level unit, not too shabby.

Chatting with Luo Xudong, Beisitian often mentioned the health team, knowing his words weren’t false. This suppressed her eagerness, and the results came out one hour later, indeed very fast.

”You can stay here; I’ll go out and inform them of the situation.” Shen Junping took the film and walked outside.

Beisitian nodded, ”I’ll be out soon.”

”No need to rush.”

As Shen Junping walked out, he was surrounded by a group of artistic soldiers. However, he was clearly experienced in such situations, not feeling awkward as a single man older by nearly ten years than these young girls.

”Xiao Hu needs to be hospitalized.” After clarifying, Shen Junping conveyed the final result to the group of artistic soldiers.

Hearing this, Li Ying’s recently stopped tears fell again. She squeezed through the crowd and approached Shen Junping, ”Doctor Shen, is there any way to quickly heal Sister Chai? She still has a performance; she’s prepared for so long. Please help her!”

Shen Junping was aware of Chai Xiaohu’s performance. He smiled wryly, ”I’ve explained the situation to you earlier. A rib fracture requires proper treatment, and her ligament strain isn’t a one or two-day recovery!”

Li Ying looked desperate, her hair somewhat messy. Yet with her pretty face, she presented another kind of beauty.

Shen Junping was helpless as Li Ying’s face showed pain and guilt, touching the hearts of those around, who all advised her not to act this way.

Li Ying was briefly puzzled and suddenly seemed to remember something. She looked up at Shen Junping abruptly, ”Doctor Shen, isn’t Brother Xudong’s wife, Sister-in-law, here?”

Shen Junping was slightly surprised, ”She is indeed here.”

Just then, the door behind them opened, and Beisitian walked out.

Seeing Beisitian, Li Ying rushed over, ”Sister-in-law, Sister-in-law, please help Sister Chai. They all say you’re very capable! You can surely heal Sister Chai, right?”

Beisitian frowned slightly, stepped back to avoid Li Ying, and asked, ”Sister-in-law?”

Li Ying, tears streaming, looked at her pitifully, ”I know you’re Brother Xudong’s wife. You can surely heal Sister Chai. Please, help me, help Sister Chai. She’s prepared for this performance for so long, she can’t lose this chance because of me!”

Watching her cry desperately, Beisitian remained unmoved, a hint of confusion arising in her heart. How does she know her?

Moreover, she was putting her on too high a pedestal.

”A hundred days are needed for muscle and bone injuries. Resting is the only solution,” Beisitian replied.

After Beisitian indicated there was no way, Li Ying collapsed to the ground, crying and hugging her knees.

Beisitian could hear her crying and shouting inside, and once outside, the piercing sounds made her head ache.

Chai Xiaohu was pushed into the hospital room on the second floor. Beisitian noticed she had already awakened but didn’t know why she wouldn’t open her eyes.

Beisitian didn’t want to know about their affairs, but Li Ying’s words drew the artistic soldiers’ attention to her.

She could sense that beneath those artistic soldiers’ eyes flashed a look of understanding, a gaze continuously assessing her that said, ’This is Deputy Company Commander Luo’s wife.’

Among these glances, some came with hostility, some with disdain, and more with a comparative view, contrasting Beisitian with themselves.

Feeling these gazes, Beisitian scrutinized each one, paying special attention to those with hostility.

Traveling frequently across the country, Beisitian was exceptionally vigilant about people’s gaze and facial expression changes. From them, she could effectively identify who might pose a threat to her and her master.

This caution had become habitual.

Li Ying wanted to visit the hospital room to see Chai Xiaohu, but everyone feared her emotions might affect the patient, persuading her to leave first and return when Chai Xiaohu was stable.

As she left, Li Ying gave Beisitian a focused glance.
