I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 270: Chapter 269: Successfully Got In

If she had the time and energy, Beisitian indeed hoped to take a good look around. Every city has its own style and stories. As the capital, the Capital City is not only the political and economic center but also bears a longstanding history. It’s necessary to look around, but right now, she didn’t have the mind for it.

”Did you come up with an idea?” Luo Xudong asked.

Beisitian smiled with her eyes and nodded, ”Perhaps we can give it a try. Do you know the chief doctor the Old Man has?”

Luo Xudong thought for a moment and nodded. That chief doctor was extremely mysterious. Though said to be the chief doctor of the military strategist, he wasn’t always on call. Instead, sometimes it was very difficult to find him.

Because he was an elite from the Ninth Department, he knew a lot about many matters. The so-called chief doctor was merely a term for outsiders. In reality, that doctor was a formidable character, but the specifics were unclear.

”I plan to impersonate a familiar or a disciple of that chief doctor!” Beisitian said.

Luo Xudong was silent, ”It doesn’t seem very reliable.” Surely they’d see through it, right?

Beisitian laughed, ”It should be fine. As long as I can spark their curiosity enough to get inside, I can find a way to stay!”

Luo Xudong, seeing her so assured, raised an eyebrow. Was there something he didn’t know?

”We’ll find out tomorrow, but you can’t go. You’ve already reported to the 119th Division. If you go, it would be very easy to get exposed!” Beisitian wrapped her arms around him.

Although Luo Xudong was a bit dissatisfied about not being able to go, he glanced at his elbow, and his lips involuntarily curled up. Beisitian was getting more and more affectionate towards him.

With a plan in place, Beisitian and Luo Xudong went to sleep early. In the early morning, Beisitian got up.

”If you’re pretending to be someone’s familiar and disciple, you at least need to make sure the person isn’t inside,” Luo Xudong raised an eyebrow as he saw Beisitian in high spirits.

”It doesn’t matter if they’re inside. Even if they are, hearing that a familiar is calling for them by name outside would likely get them to see me. As long as I can get inside, that’s what matters,” Beisitian said.

The first thing she needed to do was to get past that red lacquer gate!

”Wait for my good news,” Beisitian said with a smile.

Luo Xudong was noncommittal, ”Be careful. Whether you can get in or not, avoid any conflict with those people!”

For all her abilities, as a girl, she wasn’t as strong as a man, and those undercover agents are no easy contenders. They wouldn’t care if you were a man or a woman!

Beisitian earnestly promised, putting Luo Xudong at ease.

With his limited resources alone, Luo Xudong only accompanied Beisitian to Shichahai before not going any further. Instead, he found a place to wait by the lake.

In the Capital City, he had some connections left from his previous identity as Zhou Jiren. Even when he became Luo Xudong, he could still use them. But due to his change in identity, wanting to reconnect would take more than just a day or two.

Beisitian memorized the route carefully. As she walked along, two tails followed her, knowing she hadn’t done anything excessive; they wouldn’t act against her, so she ignored them.

Standing before the red lacquer gate, she knocked on the door again.

The man who opened the door was the same as yesterday. Seeing her, he frowned, ”You again?”

”My master, Tao Hailin, sent me to treat your military strategist,” Beisitian said with a hint of indifference on her face, though her heart was anxious.

Suddenly having a change of mind, she thought if she claimed to be a familiar, during such a sensitive time, they might not see her.

But if she claimed to be a disciple, it’d be different. If Tao Hailin had a disciple, they’d naturally let her in. Even if he didn’t, they might let her in out of curiosity to see who dared impersonate his disciple to treat the Old Man!

It was risky but worth a try!

She understood clearly from the Old Man’s words that Tao Hailin, as this world’s Mystic Doctor, held a special status. The Old Man had been in a coma for over two weeks. They couldn’t not seek out Tao Hailin!

The only concern was if the doorman didn’t understand and left her outside. That would be dire!

She had only heard the name once from the Old Man, but due to its peculiarity, she remembered.

The man’s expression changed, and he hurriedly opened the door wide, ”You’re Doctor Tao’s disciple?”

Somewhat relieved, Beisitian thought she had made the right bet! She had met Tao Hailin at the siheyuan and, seeing his age, thought he should have found a successor by now. Her own master had searched for twenty years before finding her!

”You’re finally here. Please come in! I didn’t know it was you yesterday. Had I known Doctor Tao’s name, I wouldn’t have dared to keep you outside,” the man said, feeling a mix of embarrassment and anxiety.

The doctors inside had been waiting anxiously for this vital figure. Unexpectedly, he had kept her outside. If this caused any delay, he wouldn’t be able to make up for it with his life!

Beisitian didn’t speak; the less she said, the fewer mistakes she could make.

The man saw this and thought Beisitian was upset. He began apologizing and explaining, hoping she wouldn’t report him once inside, or else it would be troublesome.

”Colonel Du, the disciple of Doctor Tao has arrived!” the man shouted in the courtyard, and immediately a group of people rushed out.

”Finally,” Du Kai Bo led the way and upon seeing Beisitian, was taken aback. She was just a young girl?

”Are you Doctor Tao’s disciple?” Du Kai Bo asked uncertainly.

Beisitian nodded, spotting Sun Wangnian in the crowd, a crack instantly appeared in her heart. She hadn’t expected to run into an old acquaintance... Now that was trouble!

Sun Wangnian, in the crowd, had a shocked expression upon seeing Beisitian. How could it be this girl?!

This was impossible!

”Where is the military strategist?” Beisitian didn’t want to waste words, hoping to see the Old Man as soon as possible. The longer she stayed here, the greater the risk of exposure. If she couldn’t save the Old Man, she might end up getting caught, too.

So she pretended not to see Sun Wangnian.

Sun Wangnian experienced turmoil in his heart. He knew Beisitian’s background well. This girl couldn’t possibly be Tao Hailin’s disciple, which meant there was only one reason for her to be here: to visit the Old Military Strategist!

Considering Beisitian’s intentions and motives, Sun Wangnian swallowed back the words on his lips. Exposing her here could cause significant trouble. Instead, he thought of finding a chance to talk to her privately and advising her to leave quickly.

As for how she knew Tao Hailin, it was most likely from the strategist himself. Sun Wangnian could only arrive at this explanation, which, by accident, was correct.

”I’m on a tight schedule, take me to see him,” Beisitian said.

These people clearly understood the temperament of this group. It wasn’t surprising. Du Kai Bo, without further pleasantries, led her to the strategist’s room.
