I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 285: Chapter 284: Quitting Together

The venue of the cultural troupe is reserved for Li Ying to rehearse her singing, so it can’t be borrowed anymore. The meaning is clear; they just don’t want you to use it. Didn’t Li Ying rehearse before? The solo choice wasn’t just decided in the last couple of days!

Ding Sisi looked at Beisitian. If she went to apologize, maybe it would make Li Ying happy and she would let us use it. She really wanted to shine at the gala, and without a dedicated training venue, the training’s effectiveness would be greatly reduced!

”Originally, the three of us were training; she didn’t participate, so why should we let her tag along? If she hadn’t been with us, maybe it wouldn’t have turned out like this!” Ding Sisi was fuming.

Tian Lei sneered, ”Are you confused? Let Xiao Bei go to apologize? Are you out of your mind?”

”You!” Ding Sisi glared, ”Don’t be unreasonable. Can’t you see it’s because of her? Li Ying used to be nice to her, but look at how she’s cold-faced every day. No one will keep trying to stick around when you snub them! Don’t be too arrogant. Li Ying is so outstanding, and she wants to befriend you, yet you don’t cherish it. Who do you think you are!”

Luo Jiali heard this and sneered as well, ”If she wanted to steal your man, she’d be nice to you, too. If it were you, you’d probably have succeeded by now!”

Ding Sisi took a deep breath, ”I wasn’t talking to you. Can you not interrupt?” Turning her head back to Tian Lei, she said, ”She has to apologize!”

Luo Jiali shrugged, ”It’s not enough for only her to apologize. I probably need to apologize too. Based on what’s happened lately, she must be holding a grudge against me. Forget it, I won’t participate anymore.”

Tian Lei spread his hands, ”I’m quitting too.”

Ding Sisi was dumbfounded. Initially, she came over not just to tell Shen Junping that she wanted to perform, but also hoping Tian Lei could accompany her on piano since she knew he played exceptionally well.

Luo Jiali’s joining made her dissatisfied, but as her singing was not as good, she saw her as a mere foil. So, when the two of them both decided to quit, Ding Sisi was stunned.

Luo Jiali quitting was one thing, but Tian Lei also wanted to quit!

”You... you both are doing this just because of Beisitian?!” Ding Sisi screamed, almost going mad with anger, ”Are you really all going to quit?”

Tian Lei and Luo Jiali nodded in unison.

Believing that if Ding Sisi had a cup in hand, she would have smashed it to the ground. With no way to deal with them, she angrily turned and ran out.

Luo Jiali rolled her eyes, ”Such little promise.”

Tian Lei’s face darkened. He didn’t care much about Ding Sisi, but Li Ying was targeting Beisitian like this!

The words his second sister said suddenly came to his mind, ”No matter what happens, don’t let them bully you. If you’re around and they still manage to bully you, you might as well not come back.”

Thinking of his second sister’s fiery temper gave him a headache, but she was right. No matter the final decision, some things can’t be changed, and he absolutely couldn’t let Beibei be bullied.

But since the opponent was a woman, how could he vent Beisitian’s anger?

Tian Lei felt a bit of a headache. If his big brother or second sister were here, they surely would have a solution.

Luo Jiali watched Tian Lei, first with a sullen face, then looking conflicted, finding his silly appearance somewhat amusing.

After Ding Sisi left, Luo Jiali asked, ”Are you really not planning to participate?” Tian Lei appeared indifferent, leaving her unsure of his desires.

”Doesn’t matter, it’s just for fun,” Tian Lei said.

This wasn’t something he could say in front of Shen Junping and others. Events like this required a positive participation attitude.

Luo Jiali genuinely wanted to participate, but with Li Ying meddling, the chances of using the practice room were bleak. Without practicing together, she feared not matching Tian Lei’s rhythm, and without his piano accompaniment, the effect would surely suffer.

Imagining their piano accompaniment as a refreshing change among performances relying on cassette backing, surely they’d gain much approval and might even win a department award or something, increasing their future prospects.

But thinking of Li Ying and then of Ding Sisi, she felt powerless. Insisting on participating might bring more trouble.

Tian Lei left the clinic, thought for a bit, then left the base and found a post office to make a call.

”Second Sister, it’s me.”

”What is it? Speak.” The voice on the phone was crisp and efficient, with no nonsense.

Tian Qiu was fiery and always acted decisively.

”Um... it’s like this...” Tian Lei explained everything to Tian Qiu, ”The person is a woman, otherwise, I’d drag her out and give her a beating. Now what should I do?”

After a brief silence on the phone, a voice replied, ”You’re as useless as ever! What good are you? That tart is shameless. Isn’t she trying to disrupt a military marriage? Find some evidence. As soon as there’s one word out, you can nail her. If she’s cautious, spread the word she’s trying to ruin a military marriage; public opinion will crush her! She dreams of moving to a higher unit with that vile ambition; no way should she go!”

Tian Lei broke out in a cold sweat listening. Truly, she was his second sister!

”You’re so useless, getting locked out like that. No wonder the family isn’t comfortable letting you go alone,” Tian Qiu added, scolding Tian Lei further.

Tian Lei quickly said, ”Second sister, I’m just taking a break from work. I need to hurry back and get revenge for Beibei!” After that, he quickly hung up.

Finding evidence wasn’t something that could be done in a day or two. As for spreading rumors, he hadn’t been here long enough to spread them widely.

Tian Lei sighed deeply, rubbing his forehead. If it were his second sister, these issues probably wouldn’t arise. Clearly, he wasn’t very reliable... This thought made him somewhat frustrated.

But he quickly perked up again. No matter what, at least he studied medicine, albeit Western medicine... that’s still better than his second sister!

Tian Lei chuckled bitterly, though not much better.

It seemed that the Tian family had to rely on the younger brother. He silently lamented for his poor younger brother for a few minutes, then returned cheerfully to the clinic.

Upon returning, he learned that Ding Sisi had complained to Director Sun!

Luo Jiali snorted, ”What a stinking fly!” She was really angry, indignant for Beisitian. Always blaming Beisitian. Would it not be a mistake unless Li Ying successfully stole the man?

”Where’s Xiao Bei?” Tian Lei asked.

”Brother Shen and Xiao Bei were called for a talk,” Luo Jiali said solemnly.

Though they knew the real situation, such matters couldn’t be spoken outright without evidence. But everyone had seen how Beisitian treated Li Ying coldly, and with Zhang Meili as a witness, Director Sun had to call her for a talk.

”I certainly will not work with Ding Sisi again; such a person is too disgusting!” Luo Jiali stated.

She genuinely wanted to join this event, but if she had to join with someone like that, she’d rather quit!

”Then how about collaborating with me?” Beisitian entered from outside.
