I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 290: Chapter 289: Gone...

In the blink of an eye, November had passed, and Ding Sisi was quite pleased with herself for finding the training room. She would often mention it intentionally or unintentionally in front of the three of them.

She was quite proud of being able to befriend Li Ying, expressing that one was from the cultural troupe and the other from the health team, both talented and capable, people like them could be friends.

Luo Jiali’s mouth twitched, ”That’s just because they’re not married, otherwise who knows why the men would run away.”

Tian Lei couldn’t be bothered with Ding Sisi. People say a big chest and no brains, but she has neither brains nor a big chest.

Their performance was at a standstill, and Shen Junping kept urging them to report the song, saying these were the last two days, and the selection would begin if it wasn’t reported this week, it would be considered an automatic forfeit.

The three of them discussed it in the past two days and decided to pick a song first. As for the instruments, they would slowly coordinate later since circumstances didn’t allow for anything else.

Although Anding City was relatively well-off, there were not many music instrument stores, especially ancient instrument stores. If they really needed a piano, they could rent one from the army’s schools, but ancient instruments were hard to find.

One day, Beisitian was asleep when there was a knock on the door. Luo Xudong put on his clothes to answer it, only to find it was Uncle Wang from the first-floor reception room.

Uncle Wang had a gloomy expression, ”Your wife’s phone call!” Then he turned and walked away.

Luo Xudong was indifferent because Uncle Wang had been traumatized years ago and acted this way towards everyone, even Liu Yiming, the regimental commander.

As they spoke, Beisitian came out in her clothes. Hearing Uncle Wang’s words, she exchanged a glance with Luo Xudong. It was just after five, so who could it be calling now?

Beisitian returned to the room, got dressed, and went downstairs, with Luo Xudong following nervously.

When they reached downstairs, the phone was placed aside separately, indicating that the caller was urgent and unwilling to hang up, no wonder Uncle Wang’s face was grim.

Although he was on night duty, there was a single bed in the reception room, usually with nothing happening at night, enabling Uncle Wang to sleep until six-thirty.

But being woken up by a call at five didn’t sit well with him given his temper.

Beisitian picked up the phone. Hearing the commotion on the other end, a voice quickly emerged; it was Zhang Baoli.

”Little Tian’er, Zhang Aimin’s son is in trouble, please come and have a look! The couple is nearly out of their minds!” Zhang Baoli said anxiously.

Beisitian frowned, ”Take him to the hospital first!” It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go, but getting there would take some time. They weren’t far from the municipal hospital, going for an emergency visit first was advisable.

”It hasn’t been a month, and they’ve been to every hospital. Everyone says it’s hopeless. Just now, they brought the child to me, asking for you, saying you mentioned it before!” Zhang Baoli was still bewildered, but since Beisitian had mentioned it, there shouldn’t be a mistake.

Thinking of the little one who smiled brightly at her when she left, waving goodbye, Beisitian’s heart softened, ”I’ll go right away.”

After hanging up, Luo Xudong grabbed Beisitian’s hand, ”I’ll take you there.”

Beisitian looked into his eyes, dark as the night, and nodded.

Luo Xudong drove Company Commander Zhou’s car out. After registering at the gate, they left the location.

Because they had a car, they quickly arrived at the music store entrance, which was open, but no one could be seen inside.

Beisitian got out of the car and walked straight inside, with Luo Xudong following.

”Is anyone there?” Beisitian called out from the back door of the music store.

The door immediately stirred, and Zhang Baoli opened it, her face full of sorrow. Tears fell as she looked at Beisitian, ”Gone...”

Beisitian’s face turned grim as she stepped inside, finding Zhang Aimin sitting dazed on the bed, holding a small bundle, arms already drooping.

His wife sat on the bed with her head in her hands, not making a sound.

Beisitian stepped forward and checked the child’s neck, placing her hand on the pulse, finding it so weak it was almost absent, yet she detected a trace of life.

She hurriedly took the child from Zhang Aimin, but instinctively, Zhang Aimin tightened his arms, his eyes blankly looking at Beisitian.

”Let me try!” Beisitian said, without complete confidence.

Zhang Aimin loosened his grip, his face devoid of expression, his arms falling to the bed, tears streaming down his face.

For people like them, living was all for the children, but to watch his only child grow cold and stiff was unbearable just to think about.

”Move aside,” Beisitian said to Zhang Aimin, wanting to lay the child on the bed.

Zhang Aimin was extremely unresponsive, as if he hadn’t heard, until Luo Xudong pulled him up.

Beisitian hurriedly laid the child flat on the bed, took out a silver needle from her bag, and inserted it into the person’s acupuncture point, then said to Zhang Baoli, ”Find me a room!”

Zhang Baoli wasn’t familiar with the place, not knowing where the rooms were and turned her head towards another door.

Seeing this, Beisitian understood she wasn’t familiar either, looking towards the door herself, and without hesitation, pushed it open and went in, ”Do not disturb me!”

Beisitian locked the door again, turning to see it appeared to be the child’s room. Though small, it was adequate as a kids’ room.

It showed how much the couple loved this child.

She knew many families didn’t specifically make a separate room for a child.

No time could be wasted. Beisitian took out yellow paper and a pen, her eyes showing no hesitation.

Without the aid of herbs, she would rely entirely on her spirit. The little one seemed to have an ongoing deficit leading to functional decline, even organ failure, and she could only attempt to hold onto his trace of vitality with her spirit. Restoring from such a deficit required long-term conditioning.

Beisitian took a deep breath. It had been a long time since she solely relied on her spirit to perform the Spiritual Talisman, and this time, it would likely consume much of her spirit.

Zhang Baoli was in extreme anxiety, feeling the child’s body growing colder bit by bit. Could Beisitian really not do anything in such a situation?

Luo Xudong’s gaze fell on that room. Whenever Beisitian prepared medicine, she needed a separate room. He seemed to recall hearing about such things, giving him a sense of déjà vu.

Zhang Aimin, face devoid of expression, wept silently, eyes fixed on his son. Despite all the love and money spent for curing him, he still couldn’t be saved.

Without the child, he felt earning any amount of money was meaningless.

While Zhang Baoli anxiously awaited and Zhang Aimin was dazed in despair, the door of the small room opened.
