I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 292: Chapter 291: The Third Banner of Honor

Beisitian returned to the station, and Luo Xudong helped her take two days off to rest at home.

Since returning, Luo Xudong had been very silent, and Beisitian noticed he seemed a bit upset, but didn’t know why.

”Xudong.” Beisitian saw a bowl of tomato egg noodles placed in front of her and looked up at Luo Xudong.

”Eat this to fill up a bit, I’ll go buy a black-bone chicken and stew it for you later.” Luo Xudong’s cool tone felt somewhat warm to hear.

”I’ve made you worry.” Beisitian naturally understood why he was upset.

Luo Xudong looked at her without speaking, not knowing how to express himself, especially since the issue involved her saving someone, a child no less, and he couldn’t just tell her not to, but seeing her in this state made him feel a bit heavy-hearted and uncomfortable.

Seeing that Luo Xudong didn’t speak, Beisitian couldn’t guess his thoughts, but could sense his unhappiness, so she comforted him, ”I know my limits. With a few days’ rest, I’ll be full of energy again!”

Luo Xudong watched Beisitian’s upturned lips and finally sighed, a trace of helplessness and affection flashing across his face as he reached out to touch her head.

”I’m going to the service center.” Luo Xudong said as he headed outside.

Seeing this, Beisitian wasn’t sure if he was going to the service center inside the army or outside, and said, ”Buy some Chinese herbs for me, the ones I wrote down for you last time.”

Nourishing and replenishing the spirit is a daily practice for a Mystic Doctor, and even if they don’t expend it, they still do daily nourishment. When the spirit is full, the effects of the Xuan Talisman they create will differ.

This is also why Mystic Doctors have levels of proficiency.

Luo Xudong raised his hand to wave it, opened the door, and went out.

In the evening, Beisitian had a pot of fragrant black-bone chicken soup with yam and goji berries.

This black-bone chicken soup had seven or eight medicinal herbs in it, and Luo Xudong almost couldn’t manage to make it.

The black-bone chicken had started stewing in the afternoon and had been stewing for three hours by the evening. Beisitian drank three big bowls one after another, and immediately felt warm all over.

Beisitian wanted to cancel her leave and return to work the next day, as staying at home was too dull.

Seeing that she had slept the entire afternoon and her spirit had slightly recovered, Luo Xudong agreed.

The next day, Beisitian returned to work, and with Luo Xudong still on duty, she found staying alone at home uninteresting.

”Xiao Bei, why do you look so exhausted?” Tian Lei was the first to notice Beisitian’s condition.

Beisitian smiled, ”A friend asked me to see a patient early yesterday morning. I guess it was too tiring.”

”Did you get up too early?” Qi Xiu Hui asked softly.

”Probably.” Beisitian didn’t elaborate.

”Then take another day off, we don’t have that many patients right now,” Yu Shufang suggested.

Shen Junping agreed.

Beisitian smiled, knowing that the depletion of spirit can’t be replenished just by sleep and simple rest, so it was better for her to be at work.

”Xiao Bei, you look really good in your uniform, very spirited, especially heroic, and particularly charming!” Tian Lei’s eyes shone brightly at Beisitian.

Beisitian hadn’t worn it before, and she put it on today, instantly looking different. She’s not a very delicate woman by nature, always exuding a quiet and calm aura. Now, dressed in a military uniform, even with just the inner shirt, pants, and short boots, she appeared a bit heroic, adding a unique charm that was even more attractive.

Luo Jiali chuckled, ”Your vocabulary is really limited! Those words were all forced out, weren’t they?”

Tian Lei’s face turned dark, ”Do you really have to say something?”

Luo Jiali snorted twice, turning her face to the side.

Beisitian noticed that Luo Jiali seemed more lively when she was with Tian Lei, lacking the usual depth she had.

”You know, even if I try hard to muster words, if it were you, I wouldn’t need to try. Stand in a group of men wearing a uniform, and you can hardly tell if you’re male or female!” Tian Lei, looking at Luo Jiali’s pleased expression, wanted to say a few more things.

Successfully turning Luo Jiali’s face dark, Tian Lei also showed a look of triumph.

Luo Jiali didn’t actually look like a man; she just had more of an androgynous look, and her height was relatively tall, about 168 to 170 cm, the tallest among the women in the medical team.

With her smart short hair, Luo Jiali appeared particularly bold and spirited. Tian Lei couldn’t say much, so he usually joked about this. Actually, if Luo Jiali grew her hair longer, she’d likely look very nice since her features were quite delicate.

Just then, Sun Wangnian appeared at the door of the consultation room,

”Director Sun,” Yu Shufang called out, and everyone greeted him.

Sun Wangnian nodded, his gaze falling on Beisitian. In front of others, he treated her just like any other colleague.

”Xiao Bei, there was a call from the guard post just now. A man and a woman are looking for you. The man’s name is Zhang Aimin, and the woman’s name is Liu Shuhua. Do you know them?”

Beisitian nodded. It was Zhang Aimin and his wife. Why were they here? Could the child’s condition have worsened?

”I’ll go take a look.” Beisitian hurried outside.

”You don’t need to go. If you know them, I’ll just call and let the people at the gate allow them in.” Sun Wangnian said and went upstairs to make the call.

Beisitian sat back down, and Qi Xiu Hui asked, ”Is that the patient you went to see yesterday morning?”

Beisitian nodded, ”Their child is very weak, suffering from severe blood and energy deficiency.” She briefly explained.

At that moment, many eyes were focused on the main gate, but due to disciplinary reasons, they couldn’t gather to watch.

After receiving the call, the duty room said to the man and woman outside, ”You’re allowed in. Do you know where the medical team is?”

Zhang Aimin quickly shook his head, ”Could you point us in the right direction?”

The soldier on duty called someone over, ”Comrade, could you take them to the medical team?”

The soldier glanced at the two, his gaze falling on the banner Zhang Aimin held. Were they here to present something?

”Alright, follow me,” the soldier said.

Zhang Aimin and Liu Shuhua quickly followed.

The banner in Zhang Aimin’s hands wasn’t rolled up; it swung back and forth as he walked. At this moment, his heart was filled with gratitude towards Beisitian, a feeling he didn’t know how to express. His wife suggested presenting a banner as a token of appreciation.

So, they spent extra money to rush-order a banner and delivered it first thing in the morning.

Now, holding the banner, he wore a devout expression, knowing that without Beisitian, his son would still be weak and stiff, struggling even to dress, and he and his wife would be without the will to live.

Carrying the banner, Zhang Aimin attracted a lot of attention, and some people close enough could see the name of the doctor it was dedicated to.

Li Ying was heading to the cafeteria with some female soldiers from the art troupe when she saw the two on the road. She couldn’t help but be curious, and the female soldiers beside her were very curious too, asking a nearby auntie.

”Oh, that? I heard it’s for Doctor Bei from the medical team!”
