I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 271: Chapter 270: Talismanic Water

Beisitian followed Du Kai Bo into the old man’s room. She was relieved to be able to come in; as long as the elder man had a breath left, she was determined to save him!

Seeing the old man lying flat on the bed, his face pale and colorless, lips dry and cracked, and his whole body much thinner, she felt a pang of sorrow in her heart.

Sun Wangnian was anxiously following behind, thinking this girl really had no sense of danger. She dared to impersonate Tao Hailin’s apprentice, thinking that knowing a bit of traditional Chinese medicine was enough. If she couldn’t make sense of the situation, how would she handle it!

Sun Wangnian had no voice here, so if he spoke rashly, it would only draw attention to him.

Beisitian suppressed the aching in her heart, carefully examined Wu Yuekai’s face, then lifted his eyelids and felt his neck, furrowing her brows, ”What kind of poison is this?”

The doctors behind her were both surprised and unsurprised. None of them mentioned Wu Yuekai’s poisoning, not even Tao Hailin, who was far away in Yunnan. Afraid of the phone being tapped, he only said Wu Yuekai was comatose and unaware of the situation, hence sending his apprentice ahead.

Nobody expected this apprentice to determine Wu Yuekai was poisoned as soon as she arrived!

”This toxin should be a new type. Our anti-toxin team recently had some research results. Would you like to take a look?” Du Kai Bo said.

As soon as he finished, someone immediately handed the results to Beisitian.

As soon as Beisitian looked, her face turned black. What was all this? She couldn’t understand it at all!

”Give it back to you.” Beisitian said.

The crowd could tell from her expression that she didn’t understand but didn’t dare underestimate her and attempted to explain in the simplest terms.

Beisitian’s head started to spin, signaling them to stop. She took out two silver needles from her pouch, lifted Wu Yuekai’s collar, and inserted the silver needles.

As soon as she took out her needle pouch, the room fell silent. They had never seen the skills of a Mystic Doctor before.

Beisitian inserted the silver needles, waited a moment, then withdrew them. Half of the silver needle had turned black.

She rolled the blood drop off the silver needle onto her finger, then put it into her mouth...

The doctors behind her were shocked. Was this girl trying to get herself killed!

Du Kai Bo widened his eyes, reached out to stop her, but seeing Beisitian’s serious and solemn demeanor, he swallowed his words.

Sun Wangnian in the crowd was bewildered; the issue wasn’t her bravery but her sheer audacity! Didn’t she want to live?

Although the toxin wasn’t contagious, ingesting it could still lead to infection!

Beisitian attentively sensed the changes in the blood in her mouth. If it were anyone else, she wouldn’t have to determine the toxin’s change this way, but since it was the elder man, she didn’t mind.

She wasn’t afraid of being poisoned, just disgusted.

Of course, she wouldn’t actually swallow the blood and hence wouldn’t get poisoned. She carefully sensed the changes in the toxin within the blood, furrowing her brow.

This toxin was complex, like a mixture of multiple toxins.

”How many toxins are there?” Beisitian opened her eyes and asked.

Du Kai Bo smiled bitterly, feeling like all the professional knowledge he and his team had learned over the years was wasted. They spent two weeks identifying the types and characteristics of the toxin, yet this girl knew there wasn’t just one toxin merely by tasting it.

”Three kinds.”

Beisitian nodded; there should be three kinds. If it were just one toxin, it would be easier to solve, but three mixed toxins would create new effects, possibly taking more than a day or two to resolve.

Beisitian frowned, knowing it would be severe but not expecting it to be this severe. To save the elder, she had to stay.

However, this would soon expose her identity, especially once Tao Hailin called!

”I need a lot of Chinese herbs. Can you help me find them?” Beisitian said to Du Kai Bo.

Du Kai Bo immediately nodded, indicating no problem. In fact, they had already prepared many herbs, as Tao Hailin required them whenever he treated someone.

Beisitian mentioned a few kinds, and they had all of them ready. Seeing this, she smiled slightly—this poison wasn’t incurable but required time.

”The room is ready for you, and you can use it anytime without being disturbed. There are guards at the door,” Du Kai Bo, evidently familiar with interacting with a Mystic Doctor, arranged smoothly.

Beisitian was very satisfied with this.

Wu Yuekai’s bodily functions were rapidly deteriorating because he couldn’t consume food or water, and he had to rely on glucose and saline to maintain basic energy, but this wasn’t a long-term solution.

Beisitian took some herbs to the prepared room, performed Spiritual Pointing to form Spiritual Talisman, then transformed it into talismanic water.

She brought out a cup of clear talismanic water. Du Kai Bo and a group of doctors saw it and their eyes lit up.

”We have a soft tube to deliver the medicine into the Master’s stomach,” Ma Yuan hurriedly approached.

Earlier, Du Kai Bo had signaled her that since Beisitian was a girl and Ma Yuan was the only female here, it might be more appropriate for them to interact.

Ma Yuan was glad to take the opportunity, grateful that Tao Hailin had taken a female apprentice!

”No need, I’ll feed him.” Beisitian said as she entered the room.

Feed him? How?

The crowd surged in, with Sun Wangnian watching Beisitian’s calm demeanor and beginning to doubt his judgment. Was she really Doctor Tao’s apprentice, just keeping it a secret?

With this thought, he followed her into the room.

Beisitian sat by the bed and said to Ma Yuan, ”Could you help elevate his head?”

Ma Yuan, not expecting Beisitian to be so polite, quickly went over to elevate the Master’s head.

Beisitian gently massaged Wu Yuekai’s neck with one hand, while slowly delivering the liquid to his mouth with the other, soon sending down the cup of talismanic water.

Though it was a small technique, it left the doctors wide-eyed. They were used to injections and infusions, and without these tools, they’d be left with just a head full of knowledge!

”This talismanic water will temporarily relieve the toxin’s impact on the body, but it’s not a permanent solution. I need some time. Later, I’ll prepare more talismanic water to meet basic body needs. Stop the infusions.”

Beisitian looked at the fixed needle in Wu Yuekai’s wrinkled hand, which previously had blood return, leaving traces on it.

The talismanic water Beisitian created could only temporarily prevent the toxin from eroding the body, offering some protection, but it had no direct effect on the toxin itself. Over time, it might not even be able to stop the toxin’s spread.

She needed to deepen her understanding of this toxin to find an antidote quickly.
