I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 291: Chapter 290: Coming Around

Luo Xudong saw Beisitian coming out of the small room, his gaze tensed, and he hurriedly stepped forward to hold her shoulders.

At this moment, Beisitian’s delicate face was pale, her forehead covered with a fine layer of sweat, her nose tip also beading with sweat, her spirit was weak, and her body seemed to be on the verge of collapse.

He remembered the first time he saw Beisitian in such a state was when she was treating the commander for viral pneumonia; that time was the most severe, and she was in a coma for two days and two nights.

This time, although not as severe, took a significant toll as well.

Seeing Luo Xudong’s stern face, Beisitian smiled slightly, ”I’m fine, give the medicine to the child as soon as possible.”

She handed the talisman powder in her hand to Sister Bao Li, ”Sister Bao Li, dissolve it in room temperature water, I’ll feed it to the child.”

Sister Bao Li didn’t ask much, she hurried to the small kitchen to find a cup, dissolved it with room temperature water, and the medicine powder disappeared quickly into the water in an instant, still leaving it as clear water; had she not seen the medicine powder dissolve, she might have thought she forgot to put it in.

”It’s clear water!” Sister Bao Li asked uncertainly.

”Yes, just bring it over.” Beisitian said.

Sister Bao Li confirmed it, asked no more, and handed this cup of clear liquid to Beisitian.

Beisitian sat by the bed and fed the talismanic water using her unique technique.

”How is it now?” Sister Bao Li asked nervously, leaning in to look.

The child’s mother was still clutching her head curled up in the corner of the wall, and Zhang Aimin was squatting on the ground, both appeared soulless. Even if the child was really gone, they might only think of dressing the child after he turned stiff.

After feeding the child, Beisitian swayed and was about to fall off the bed, but fell into a firm and reliable embrace.

Looking up to see Luo Xudong’s pained gaze, Beisitian smiled, ”Don’t worry, I just need to recover.”

Luo Xudong said nothing, just held Beisitian a bit tighter.

After the child drank the talismanic water, there was no movement; he still lay quietly on the bed. Seeing this, Sister Bao Li knew it might not be salvageable.

Indeed, just now when she touched the child’s body, it was already starting to get cold; how could he possibly be saved!

Every time she encountered this child, he would sweetly call her Auntie, and she felt incredibly sad. Such a good child, how could he be gone!

Beisitian was also paying close attention to the child’s changes; this time relying entirely on the spirit-made Xuan Talisman had taken a significant toll on her, and although the effects were excellent, if even this couldn’t keep the little one’s life force, then there was no other way.

As time ticked by, Zhang Aimin slowly came to his senses, looking at his son lying on the bed, grief-stricken, a grown man whimpered and cried.

As he cried, Ai Min’s wife in the corner also sensed something, she lifted her head dazedly, her eyes falling on her son lying beside her, still with disbelief on her face, always feeling her son could not possibly leave her just like that.

”Little Darling~ wake up, mommy wants to take you out to play...” Ai Min’s wife touched the child’s face and gently shook his body.

”Little Darling, the story from last night hasn’t finished yet, didn’t you say you love hearing mommy’s stories the most? Little Darling~ mommy’s little darling~” Ai Min’s wife gently hugged her son in her arms, body gently rocking, singing the song she used to put him to sleep every night.

Zhang Aimin staggered over and embraced both mother and son.

Without the child, there seemed to be no hope for the future. Some might say they can have another, but the feelings for every child are different. They didn’t know if they could come out of the sorrow and regain strength.

”Mmm...”

A sound like a kitten’s meow came from between the two, instantly drowned in their cries and the song.

Beisitian had been focusing intently on the child, thus didn’t miss this faint sound, and upon hearing it, she breathed a sigh of relief, at least their efforts weren’t in vain.

”The child will be suffocated by you.” Although Beisitian was languid, and even her body seemed unwilling to move, she couldn’t help but say, gazing at Sister Bao Li, ”Sister Bao Li, the child is coming to, quickly get him out.”

As long as the child took a breath, there was hope!

Sister Bao Li was a bit stunned, heard and partially believed, then hurriedly pulled the couple apart, indeed seeing the child in their arms frowning slightly with a pained look on his small face, though his eyes remained closed, he had come around.

”Alive, alive!” Sister Bao Li exclaimed, hastening to take the child into her arms; this child was too fragile to withstand the couple’s torment!

After Sister Bao Li carried the child out, one of the couple had tears on their face while the other’s expression was vacant, both looked to Sister Bao Li.

As the room quieted down, the child’s soft whimper was heard clearly again.

The couple shuddered and rushed toward Sister Bao Li.

”Son! Son!”

”Little Darling!”

The couple rushed to the front, seeing their son who had turned bluish-grey before, now pale, but without the color of death, and burst into tears of joy.

”My son has come back to life, my son has come back to life...” Zhang Aimin held the child, unwilling to let go.

Beisitian could understand their feelings, but if things went on like this, the child wouldn’t be able to take it, she had no choice but to remind them.

Sister Bao Li was sober, persuaded Zhang Aimin to hand over the child, gently placed him on the bed, and covered him with a blanket.

Zhang Aimin and Ai Min’s wife hugged each other and cried, joyful for regaining what they lost, and hearing Sister Bao Li ask Beisitian what to do next, they finally came to their senses, both came to Beisitian, and with a thud knelt down.

Before Beisitian could respond, the couple kowtowed three times with tears streaming down, unable to say a word.

Without having gone through it, who can understand such pain?!

”Get up, the most urgent thing now is to nurse the child; I can only temporarily sustain his breath, without proper care, the child might not make it through the year!”

Beisitian wasn’t trying to scare them, from the first glance at the child, she knew his condition was grave. It was only an initial sight, and her judgment wasn’t that precise; it turned out to be worse than she imagined.

At those words, Zhang Aimin and his wife panicked, and just as they were about to kowtow again, Luo Xudong, frowning, lifted them up. He could see that Beisitian was very exhausted, needing to finish things up quickly and take her back to rest.

”Doctor Bei, please save my son, we can’t lose him again!” Zhang Aimin pleaded desperately.

”I’ll prescribe a formula for you, decoct the medicine as per the formula, have him drink it for two days, and then come to the troops. I’ll give you some more medication then.” Beisitian barely had the energy to speak, pausing for breath mid-sentence.
