I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 267: Chapter 266: His Last Words Before Falling Unconscious

The alley here is rather narrow, cars cannot drive in, the three people walked and inquired simultaneously, and managed to hear some news.

The atmosphere here is clearly different, brimming with ancient style and charm, no skyscrapers, all are gray-bricked and tiled courtyard houses, one next to another.

The three of them roamed through the streets and alleys, passed through a residential area, stopped at the entrance of a red-painted large door, looked at the red number next to the door, compared it with the number in their hand, ensuring it was the same place, Beisitian looked at Luo Xudong with delight.

Luo Xudong gently patted Beisitian’s head, although he looked at the red-painted door with some anxiety, noting that those residing here are definitely not ordinary citizens, most are old cadres, including both retired and active ones, the quarters of the military staff arranged here evidently not wanting any publicity.

Thus, for them to enter might be somewhat challenging.

Just as Luo Xudong anticipated, Beisitian stepped forward to knock, and knocked for quite a while before the red-painted door opened a crack, Beisitian concisely explained the purpose of her visit, but the person inside looked at her coldly, saying, ”You’ve got the wrong place!” and shut the door.

Beisitian was stunned, she mentioned Wu Yuekai’s name, the other party had no reaction, could it really be the wrong place?

Luo Xudong stepped up behind her, knocked the door open again, the person inside was somewhat impatient.

”I am Luo Xudong, deputy sergeant of the 9th company of the Twenty-eighth Regiment of the 119th Division, and I used to be the military staff’s guard, this time I came on his request.” Luo Xudong said to the person inside.

The person inside was chilled by Luo Xudong’s cold and sharp gaze, dared not treat him as coldly as Beisitian, but helplessly said, ”Buddy, you really got the wrong place, this is just a regular home, where’s the talk of military staff?”

Luo Xudong frowned, he could definitely confirm it was not the wrong place, but the opponent insisted on this argument, he felt quite troubled.

”I know the military staff’s current situation, please let us see him!” Luo Xudong could only disclose.

Upon hearing this, the person’s expression flashed slightly and then smiled bitterly, ”Buddy, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, I really don’t know what you’re talking about, it’s so early in the morning, my wife and kids are still sleeping, could you please loosen your grip and let me go hold my wife to sleep?”

Luo Xudong pressed one hand against the door, no matter how hard the person inside tried, he couldn’t close it, this man is quite strong!

Seeing the other party remain unyielding in not letting them in, Beisitian grew anxious inside, turned to see Luo Xudong squinting his eyes, got a fright, hurriedly grabbed his arm, ”Xudong, let’s go.” saying this, forcefully pulled Luo Xudong down the steps.

The man quickly closed the door, hearing him secure it from inside.

”We can’t break in!” Beisitian though anxious, retained her rationality, seeing Luo Xudong squinting his eyes earlier, she knew he was angry.

Luo Xudong nodded slowly, he wasn’t an impulsive person, but equally worried about the military staff, for a moment he thought if they forcefully entered perhaps there’d be no issue, but the consequences would be rather troublesome.

Beisitian was certain they found the right place, the slight change on the man’s face did not escape her eyes.

Luo Xuhua looked around at the environment, he had never been here, but obviously there was a big difference from the residential area they just passed, the courtyards were larger, mostly single-door houses, not several families residing together, and the people frequenting the alley... seemed not to be ordinary.

Seeing the two returning, Luo Xuhua stepped forward, ”Let’s go for now.”

The two nodded, there was no alternative for the time being.

Luo Xudong glanced coldly at the men who had been watching them, these people wore civilian clothes, but were not ordinary civilians, might be covert personnel.

Luo Xudong hadn’t been here before either, unsure if these were deployed because of the military staff or always on duty patrolling nearby, glad they didn’t force their way earlier, otherwise there’d likely be struggle.

The three left the alley, until they walked out of Tianren Street, those covert personnel disappeared.

Luo Xuhua broke a sweat, with his sharp eyes he could naturally see these people weren’t simple.

”Who are those people? Who are you looking for?” Luo Xuhua finally couldn’t resist asking.

He vaguely suspected those were covert personnel, but this area was all residential, unlike the place on Chang’an Street, why would there be covert personnel?

Luo Xuhua could perceive this because those people had been obviously following them, evidently ready to pin them down at any irregular moves.

Luo Xudong knew, had he not revealed his station name earlier, there’d have been trouble.

This affair, evidently not simple.

”We are looking for a former headmaster, now retired, hoping he’d help with something, now it seems we found the wrong place.” Luo Xudong said.

This matter shouldn’t involve Luo Xuhua, it’s too complex and dangerous.

Luo Xuhua nodded, unsure whether he believed or not, but stopped asking further.

Returning without success the first time, Beisitian began to panic, knowing the old man was inside, yet they couldn’t get in, frustrated outside!

They were anxious, meanwhile, the people in the courtyard were also anxious.

”Still no progress?” asked Du Kai Bo, Director of the PLA 300th Hospital.

Several doctors below shook their heads.

”Developing serum is not that easy,” sighed a doctor.

This courtyard not only had a complete set of medical equipment but also a virus research team, specifically working on the new toxins to develop antiviruses.

Only this virus is a new type, finding a solution is not a fleeting task, after two weeks, they only discovered the virus’s origin, finding a countermeasure could take longer.

As several doctors discussed ahead, Sun Wangnian bitterly smiled at the back.

The reason for his bitter smile was because these doctors standing before him were extraordinary, not to mention Du Kai Bo, even vice presidents from various hospitals were present, two senior researchers from the virus research institute, and a specialized virus team constituted today.

The people here might be unknown by name, but mentioning their titles would astonish anyone.

Thus, he stood out quite oddly.

No one knew the name Sun Wangnian, 36th Group medical team director from the 119th Division?

Honestly, he reported as such when he arrived, those looked at him with complicated emotions.

This complexity he initially didn’t understand, later realized.

Why such a ’small fry’ could get in was due to the old military staff’s words before falling unconscious.
