I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 254: Chapter 253: The Rural Wife

Liu Yiming saw a petite and delicate woman, exquisitely beautiful, with eyes not only spirited but also hiding a glimmering light, making it hard for anyone to resist taking a few more glances.

He stepped forward two steps, handed the banner in his hand to her, and said, ”Doctor Bei, thank you for saving the rough man’s life. Zhao Hai already told me, if it weren’t for you, the rough man would have bled out and wouldn’t have made it until Doctor Sun arrived!”

Liu Yiming’s voice was like morning bells and evening drums, just talking like this made people feel deafening, and many doctors took a few steps back.

Liu, the loud voice, lived up to his reputation!

No wonder they say when he talks on the first floor, people can hear him clearly on the third floor.

Beisitian suddenly remembered the man covered in blood, whom she used a silver needle to stop the bleeding and save. Luo Xudong seemed to have mentioned before that it was Commander Liu.

”Are you the commander who saved the uncle herding sheep?” Beisitian asked back.

Although she had heard one of the sergeants mention it before, she didn’t listen too carefully at the time. It was only later when she listened to Luo Xudong that she understood the situation back then.

She thought that a commander is quite an official, yet he would get seriously injured for the sake of the common people, something she had never heard of in her previous life.

Understanding the reason, Beisitian had great admiration for Liu Yiming.

Her question greatly pleased Liu Yiming, everyone loves to hear nice words, and such sincere compliments were the first he had heard, leaving him not only grateful but also a bit delighted with the girl in front of him.

Liu Yiming saw her natural expression, it was a genuine inquiry not deliberate flattery, making him even happier, he scratched his head with a chuckle, a bit embarrassed.

”Saving people is what we should do.” Liu Yiming chuckled sheepishly, the banner in his hand tilted, so he hastily adjusted it and handed it forward, ”Take this banner, if you ever need anything, you can come to the rough man, as long as I can do it, I’ll definitely not hesitate!”

Beisitian accepted the banner, finding his self-reference quite amusing.

”As a healer with a benevolent heart, it’s your duty to save the common people, and it’s my duty to save you.” Beisitian smiled lightly.

Hearing this sentence and seeing the sincerity on her face, Liu Yiming’s face showed a subtle change. Although he said it, he was genuinely afraid she might be greedy and insatiable. Unexpectedly, she uttered such a statement, making him feel somewhat guilty, thinking he couldn’t help being a bit hypocritical.

In today’s world, there are many who exploit gratitude for repayment. He had seen quite a few in his position.

”Doctor Bei, the rough man feels ashamed.” Liu Yiming bowed slightly, his expression becoming more sincere and earnest.

Seeing Beisitian smiling silently, he didn’t know whether she perceived his earlier thoughts. If she had, he would have truly been ashamed to the point of losing face.

”Hahaha, Commander, she doesn’t need your help. She has an amazing man.” A man in his thirties came out from behind Liu Yiming, the one who previously received talisman powder from Beisitian’s hand, Zhao Hai, Sergeant Zhao.

Liu Yiming was taken aback. His injury had just healed, so he hadn’t had time for particulars and assumed she was just a doctor from the medical team.

”Her man?” Liu Yiming asked in confusion.

Zhao Hai stepped forward with a grin, ”Yes, the commander knows him too. It’s Luo Xudong, Deputy Squad Leader Luo, who recently received a first-class merit!”

Liu Yiming’s eyes widened instantly, ”So it’s that kid! But wasn’t it said...” wasn’t it said he went back to his hometown to marry a wife?

The wife he supposedly married should be a rural woman, but this girl before him doesn’t look one bit like a rural girl.

”You’re Luo Xudong’s wife?!” Liu Yiming, surprised, amplified his voice several times, and suddenly everyone in the medical team knew Beisitian’s husband was Luo Xudong!

Beisitian’s mouth twitched. Thank you very much indeed...

Liu Yiming paused for a moment, then burst into hearty laughter, ”So it’s that kid’s wife, huh, great, great, you people are all capable! Saved by that kid’s wife, the rough man is lucky!”

You don’t need to keep emphasizing ”that kid’s wife” so much!

Beisitian was speechless, rubbing her ears. If she stayed with this person long-term, her ears might suffer damage.

Originally, only a few in the medical team knew about Beisitian’s husband, but now the whole medical team did. Nurse Liu had taken a few days off, and upon returning, received such astonishing news.

Earlier, when Luo Xudong returned home to marry, many were curious about his rural wife, unexpectedly finding her right in their medical team!

However... Beisitian, no matter how she looked, didn’t seem rural at all. Even if she was from the countryside, she was a bona fide military doctor with real skills!

Beisitian felt the surrounding looks of shock, scrutiny, and curiosity directed at her, internally ’thanking’ Liu Yiming once more.

”Commander Liu, if there’s nothing else, we need to return to work.” Beisitian said with a smile.

”Alright, alright, Doctor Xiao Bei, continue with your work, we won’t disturb you.” Liu Yiming, blissfully unaware of being subtly dismissed, said two sentences before taking his leave with his entourage.

In just over a week, Beisitian, the intern junior traditional medicine assistant, had already received two banners!

To know that in the previous two years, the medical section hadn’t received a single banner.

Ding Sisi couldn’t summon any envy anymore, her cold face sighing, only able to console her wounded heart by thinking Beisitian had simply been extremely lucky.

”Xiao Bei, now no one has any objection to you receiving a permanent position.” Qi Xiu Hui said quietly, seeing Beisitian’s nonchalant demeanor, she added, ”Don’t take it lightly, after becoming permanent, you’ll earn 150 yuan a month!”

Comparatively, the salary for military doctors wasn’t high, many students straight from school either pursued their dreams or sought promotions, but promotions weren’t that easy to achieve!

The day after Commander Liu left, more people suddenly started coming to the medical team for consultations. Family members arrived in twos and threes, smiling, looking around, asking the doctors to prescribe cold medicine or digestive aids.

The third consultation room was particularly busy, many getting treatment from Shen Junping and Yu Shufang kept glancing at Beisitian.

Yu Shufang said with a stern face, ”There’s nothing wrong with you, it’s just that you’re overthinking, let go of the curiosity and you’ll sleep well at night.” She glanced at Beisitian and saw her remaining calm.

The family member, embarrassed, walked away.

Shen Junping, generally friendly with people, also found it somewhat overwhelming, giving a wry smile.

Qi Xiu Hui felt the most disordered, usually attending to fewer patients, but today, not less than three people surrounded her, constantly encircled by people.

Once it’s finally doctors’ off-duty time, everyone, including the second and first consultation rooms, quickly rushed to the second-floor office.

Thinking the excitement about Luo Xudong returning had passed, unexpectedly, revealing Beisitian’s identity had brought so many visitors!

No doubt, they had all come for Beisitian, filled with curiosity about Luo Xudong’s rural wife.

”Xiao Bei, do you need to take a few days off?” Yu Shufang suggested suffering with a smile, fearing Beisitian might find the situation unbearable.
