I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 273: Chapter 272: Give Her Some Time

Ma Yuan spoke of some symptoms Wu Yuekai experienced in the early days of his coma. His bodily functions rapidly declined before he fell into a coma, and he couldn’t even stand up. When he was lucid in bed, he asked for the medical team of the 119th Division, and then he completely lost consciousness.

Beisitian was startled upon hearing this, the medical team of the 119th Division... So the old man had tried to reach her.

Beisitian felt a sense of comfort inside, the old man trusted her.

Two days after falling into a deep coma, the old military commander occasionally awoke, but it was not a true awakening; he often spoke nonsense or sometimes stared out as if speaking to someone, yet he was alone in the room.

Beisitian listened with furrowed brows, indicating auditory and visual hallucinations were occurring.

Ma Yuan explained the situation in detail and saw Beisitian fall into deep thought once more.

For the entire day, until past nine in the evening, Beisitian sat dazed in Wu Yuekai’s room, watching the old man in bed.

Beisitian was a Mystic Doctor, not an immortal. Understanding this new type of poison would take a long time, but Wu Yuekai couldn’t wait that long.

The time left for her was not much either.

So Beisitian thought for an entire day, deciding instead of figuring out how to detoxify, she should think about how to expel the toxin; once expelled, managing it would be easier.

The next day, Du Kai Bo listened to Beisitian’s method, shaking his head, ”Doctor Bei, pardon my frankness, we’ve thought of this method too, but it’s too difficult to achieve. The poison entered too late; it has already invaded the internal organs. To remove it, you’d have to extract the organs.”

Extracting the internal organs would naturally mean death for a person; it would only hasten Wu Yuekai’s demise, serving no greater purpose.

Beisitian remained silent, modern instruments couldn’t do it, but she might be able to try.

”Doctor Du, please help me prepare some herbs,” Beisitian said, ”Let me give it a try.”

Seeing this, Du Kai Bo agreed.

The herbs Beisitian asked him to prepare were all very common, like Plantain, Licorice, Goji, and Burdock, not even considered precious.

A doubt flashed in Du Kai Bo’s eyes, it seemed they were being somewhat rash, mainly because Beisitian looked so young.

The night before, several doctors gathered to discuss this issue.

Tao Hailin appeared to be in his fifties, but his actual age was near seventy; would he truly accept a disciple as young as Beisitian?

Even if Beisitian was indeed Tao Hailin’s disciple, having learned medicine since being in the womb, how much could one achieve at the age of twenty?

Seeing Beisitian’s intention, she didn’t seem to be waiting for Tao Hailin, rather intending to treat the patient herself.

But Mystic Doctors were very mysterious to them, many things were possible, so even after discussing, they came to no conclusion, only fostering more suspicion towards Beisitian.

Although they saw her competently enter the room to concoct medicine, and brought out a cup similar to Tao Hailin’s clear water medicine, it seemed ineffective; they tested several times within two hours after Wu Yuekai drank it, with no results!

After that phone call with Tao Hailin, they could not reach him. The team sent to pick him reported that Doctor Tao couldn’t fly, vomiting upon boarding, leaving no choice but to disembark and take a car.

However, the place was somewhat remote, and driving there took time. Tao Hailin proposed to meet them halfway by car, saving time, which they agreed to, but once he left alone, he became unreachable again.

To this, Du Kai Bo could only sigh.

If they could reach Tao Hailin, they could inquire about his disciple’s characteristics and age.

Last time, Tao Hailin said he would arrive soon, and their focus was on the old military commander, so they didn’t ask further.

Beisitian subsequently prepared several strengthening Xuan Talismans, transforming them into clear water to feed Wu Yuekai.

After she left Wu Yuekai’s room, the research team immediately conducted a check on Wu Yuekai’s body.

Du Kai Bo considered directly asking Beisitian but having thought of Tao Hailin’s eccentric temperament, he dismissed the idea.

The check results came quickly, unexpectedly showing Wu Yuekai’s health indicators had improved significantly, clearly the clear water medicine had taken effect!

This slightly reduced the suspicion towards Beisitian.

Unaware of this, Beisitian focused entirely on how to eliminate the toxins. The simplest method was to expel them from the body.

Detoxification must accompany supplementation, so Beisitian asked Du Kai Bo for some blood and energy replenishing herbs, which were relatively more precious.

Beisitian produced two Xuan Talismans in succession, both transformed into talismanic water, each different, attempting to expel the toxins from Wu Yuekai’s body as safely as possible.

After the first talismanic water was ingested, Beisitian waited momentarily, then used a silver needle to pick out a drop of blood, putting it in her mouth, and immediately frowned.

The doctors watched from the side, seeing her frown, they exchanged glances.

Two hours later, she gave Wu Yuekai the second cup of talismanic water, waited for a while, then used a silver needle to pick out a blood bead, putting it in her mouth, frowning again quickly.

She then successively produced three more talismanic waters, yet none proved effective, causing Beisitian to stand in front of the bed in deep thought.

In another room, the doctors started a small meeting.

”Dean Du, this isn’t going to work, does this girl really have the skills?” Jiang and Huai frowned as they spoke.

Du Kai Bo remained silent; whether she had skills or not, her dedication was commendable.

Ma Yuan, who was following Beisitian, saw her efforts, saying, ”Comrade Xiao Bei really worked hard, she’s continually experimenting to find a way to detoxify.”

”We can’t let her keep experimenting like this, who knows if her concoctions harm the old military commander. We must be accountable!” a square-faced old man said.

”Vice Director Shi is right, continuing like this, the old military commander might not hold out until a solution is found,” Jiang and Huai said.

Everyone knew Wu Yuekai’s body was nearly ruined, not withstanding Beisitian’s meddling.

Facing such doubts, Ma Yuan was speechless. Beisitian was indeed working hard, but without results, effort wasn’t enough.

Seeing the argument tipping one way, Sun Wangnian couldn’t help but say, ”For a young girl to work this hard is commendable. She is one person, and even the entire medical team hasn’t developed a detoxification solution. We must give her time!”

This voice was unfamiliar, causing a momentary pause in the crowd, as they found sense in the words. Looking towards the voice, seeing Sun Wangnian, they were momentarily surprised, then remembered who he was.

The medical team of the 119th Division... the personnel the old military commander had specifically asked for... but...
