I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 252: Chapter 251: Very Much Alike (First Update—Please Support)

While the young man was scrutinizing Beisitian, Beisitian was also observing him.

Without any introduction needed, Beisitian could tell that this young man was Tian Lei’s biological brother. Although the two had completely different styles, their faces were strikingly similar.

”You must be Tian Lei’s older brother. We’ve been waiting for you for a long time!” Shen Junping stood in front of Beisitian, smiling as he spoke to the young man.

Beisitian was very beautiful, and not just beautiful, but she also exuded a serene and composed aura that was incredibly attractive. However, she was married, and it wouldn’t be good for any rumors to spread if a man stared at her like that.

The young man raised the corner of his mouth in a polite smile and said, ”Yes, my name is Tian Jun. How is my brother doing?”

”The situation is worsening, but thankfully you arrived; otherwise, if it had dragged on any longer, it would’ve been troublesome.” Shen Junping led Tian Jun to the second floor.

The second floor could temporarily accommodate patients after minor surgeries, serving as a short-term inpatient department.

Tian Lei was in one of the wards on the second floor, enjoying the ’privilege’ of having a single room.

Upon entering, Shen Junping handed Tian Jun a mask, but Tian Jun shook his head and pushed the door open, walking in.

Like him, Beisitian also didn’t wear a mask; she wouldn’t be infected by such an illness.

Tian Lei heard the noise, looked up, and saw his brother’s cold face. He couldn’t help but smile, ”Brother, you’re here, have a seat, have a seat. It’s rather modest here, not fit to entertain you, but I’ll take you out for some good food one day.”

Tian Jun raised an eyebrow, ”You’re still so chatty; I guess I came too early.”

”No, no, haha, did you bring the dendrobium? I’ve been counting on it to save my life!” Tian Lei scratched his head and smiled.

Upon hearing this, Tian Jun couldn’t help but glance at Beisitian before turning to Tian Lei and saying, ”You’re being quite hasty.”

Whether or not he believed in Beisitian was one thing; Tian Lei was just waiting dryly for him to bring herbs so Beisitian could treat him. This lack of a backup plan was indeed a bit dangerous.

”Not hasty at all. Xiao Bei is very skilled; it’s no big deal for her! Isn’t that right, Xiao Bei?” Tian Lei, smiling, asked Beisitian.

”Give me the herbs, and I’ll go prepare the medicine.” Beisitian, unwilling to banter with him, looked at Tian Jun.

Tian Jun handed the bag to Beisitian. After she left, he looked at Shen Junping and said, ”I want to speak with my third brother privately for a while.”

”Don’t get too close; tuberculosis is spread through droplets.” Shen Junping, seeing Tian Jun wouldn’t heed his warning, decided not to waste words and simply let them talk as quickly as they could.

After everyone else left, only the brothers Tian Jun and Tian Lei remained in the ward.

Tian Lei looked up and asked, ”Brother, what do you think?”

Tian Jun’s eyes sparkled with a strange light, ”Very much alike.”

Tian Lei nodded repeatedly; he’d felt it strongly when he saw Beisitian, and if even his brother said so, it must be highly likely.

”Let’s not make a fuss about it yet. This matter depends on the family’s decision.” Tian Jun stood in front of the window, looking outside.

”I understand.” Tian Lei nodded, then remembered something and added, ”She’s married.”

Tian Jun was startled, turning back to look at Tian Lei, ”Who is her husband?”

”His name is Luo Xudong; he’s now apparently a deputy sergeant major, and I’ve heard he’s quite a figure.” Tian Lei recalled what he heard recently.

Tian Jun chuckled and shook his head, ”A deputy sergeant major counts as a figure?”

”But he’s only two or three years older than me and has received a first-class merit award.” Tian Lei explained, regretting not having met him yet.

A first-class merit award? That was indeed no small feat!

Tian Jun knew that receiving a first-class merit award wasn’t easy, especially in peacetime when most were posthumous and granted after death. It wasn’t that there weren’t any living recipients, just that achieving such was quite difficult.

Having earned a first-class merit award in his twenties meant he could be promoted two grades to a lieutenant rank, indicating a promising future!

”I forgot to mention; she studied traditional Chinese medicine!” Tian Lei’s eyes showed amusement.

Tian Jun’s serious face displayed surprise, ”Studied traditional Chinese medicine?”

”Yes! And her skills don’t seem low!”

Tian Jun’s eyes flickered with light, finally letting out a bitter laugh, ”I’ll inform the family of the situation and see how we decide.”

”Alright, Brother, you leave now. Don’t tell the family about my situation for now; it’s already chaotic as is. I’ll let you know once I’m better!” Tian Lei began urging him to leave.

Tian Jun’s brows furrowed with worry, ”I don’t know why you trust her so much, but if anything goes wrong, contact me as soon as possible. I’ll arrange a doctor for you; this illness can’t be delayed.”

”I know, I know, now you should go!” Tian Lei waved his hand.

Tian Jun nodded and walked out, ”Keep the phone lines open. If I can’t reach you, I’ll come to get you myself.”

”I told you nothing will happen; I’m not going to joke about my life!”

When Beisitian returned with the medicine prepared, Tian Jun had already left. She was a bit surprised; Tian Lei’s older brother seemed much too at ease, leaving after just delivering the herbs despite his brother having tuberculosis.

”My older brother is so boring, always with that serious face like a math teacher. I don’t even want to spend a minute more with him!” Tian Lei laughed as he said this, his eyes falling on that glass of clear water.

”I just drank water, not thirsty. Xiao Bei, you’re so thoughtful!”

Thoughtful...

Beisitian frowned, ”Be careful with your words next time. It’s inappropriate to express yourself like this among colleagues!”

Tian Lei was momentarily stunned, then burst into laughter, ”Xiao Bei, you’re adorably straightforward!”

Beisitian was quite speechless seeing he had no intention of mending his ways. She had already said so, a normal person would feel embarrassed and pay attention next time, right? What’s wrong with this guy?

She considered herself not familiar with Tian Lei, yet he acted very chummy with her. If he was like this with everyone, she’d ignore it, but he seemed to act this way only with her.

Though Tian Lei consistently used inappropriate expressions, his gaze toward her was clear, free from any romantic implication. This was why she hadn’t said much initially.

”This is medicine, not water.” Beisitian said with a wooden face.

Tian Lei looked at the clear water again, laughing, ”I’m not stupid, I can tell the difference between medicine and water!”

Beisitian silently looked at this fool, then asked slowly and deliberately, ”Are you going to drink it or not?”

”Alright, alright, I’ll drink.” Tian Lei took the cup, tilted his head back to drink, smacked his lips, and pretended, ”This medicine is so sweet~”

With that, he seemed to savor the taste.

Beisitian’s eyebrows twitched slightly, took the cup, and left. The talismanic water was tasteless, where had he gotten the sweetness from!

Beisitian left and didn’t come in again; the next round of medicine was scheduled for tomorrow.

However, Tian Lei waited and waited, still expecting Beisitian to brew the traditional medicine for him...

Eventually, as it was nearly time to clock off, Shen Junping came to see him. Only then, with a mournful face, did he say that Beisitian was ignoring him and wouldn’t brew the medicine for him.

Shen Junping laughed silently, seeing Tian Lei clowning around. After getting to know him, he found Tian Lei’s nature to be quite lively.

”Did she give you a glass of clear water?” Shen Junping asked. Seeing him nod, he recalled that the same medicine that looked like clear water was given to Sister Yu.
