Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 78: Not favored, but you are the most ”competitive”Chapter 78: Not favored, but you are the most ”competitive”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Lin’s already frowned brows tightened even more. He scratched his head hard, with an extremely conflicted expression on his face.

This is really a dilemma!
No matter which one you choose, it seems to bring some problems and troubles.

If you choose a large-caliber 125mm smoothbore gun, although it is extremely powerful, it faces the dilemma of having to import it.

As a result, not only will a large amount of money be spent on procurement, but one will also have to face the possibility that Russia may take the opportunity to ask for an exorbitant price.

If the relatively mature 115mm smoothbore gun is used, the senior military officials of Yan State will be reluctant to accept it.

After all, other major countries have generally adopted smoothbore guns above 120mm or even 130mm.

It is unacceptable for Yan State to continue using the 115mm smoothbore gun, both in terms of face and substance.

It is still unknown whether the 115mm smoothbore gun shells can penetrate the heavy armor of other countries’ second-generation main battle tanks.

Mr. Lin’s expression became uglier and uglier. He shook his head helplessly: ”Xiao Lin, the two solutions you proposed cannot meet the needs of the military.”

He sighed deeply and then said, ”You have given us a big problem.”

Hearing this, Lin Chenran raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a bitter smile, and said: ”Grandpa, you are wronging me.”

He gently patted Mr. Lin on the shoulder and consoled him, ”It’s not that I’m giving the military a hard time, but the country simply can’t produce a 120mm smoothbore cannon, and our 077 Mechanical Military Factory can’t produce one.”

Old Master Lin frowned, looked at Lin Chenran sharply, and said in a deep voice: ”Xiao Linzi, do you have any other ideas?”

Lin Chenran smiled bitterly: ”Grandpa, how do we solve this problem?”

”We were able to produce the Apocalypse Tank in two years. Our 077 Mechanical Arsenal is already a first-rate existence.”

”If you look at the situation at home and abroad, the development of that tank would be so short.”

”Even the current development progress of the Type 80 tank is far behind us.”

Lin Chenran shook his head and said.

”Hey!”

Mr. Lin sighed deeply.

There is nothing we can do about this.

The weapons and equipment in the hands of the Yan State military are backward.

A large number of third-line military factories are in the ”shutdown” stage, and some have directly closed down.

In this situation, being able to produce weapons and equipment is already remarkable.

Being able to produce advanced weapons and equipment is a first-class existence.

Mr. Lin asked Lin Chenran to go back first.

He then got into a military-brand Red Flag car and left the compound.

Regarding the Apocalypse tank, he needs to take a trip.

Just now, the top military officials of Yan State secretly held a meeting room to discuss the Apocalypse tank of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory.

”Old Lin, why are you calling us to a meeting so urgently?”

Wei Lao, the head of the Yan State’s military equipment department, was the first to break the deadlock.

”Well! Old Wei, can’t you wait?”

Then Mr. Lin began to talk about his conversation with Lin Chenran and the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine at the meeting.

Suddenly, all the Yan State military became excited.

Although the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine technology is considered backward tank engine technology in the hands of the Russian bear, it is quite advanced technology in the hands of Yan country. That’s right, now some high-ranking military officials in Yan country have begun to regret it.

They kept wondering in their hearts: Why didn’t they choose the more powerful Apocalypse tank as the military’s second-generation main battle tank?
Back then, at the bidding conference for the second-generation main battle tank, the design and development plan of the Apocalypse tank was obviously much more advanced than that of the Type 80 tank.

But at that time, the senior military officials only felt that the Apocalypse tank was limited by its engine, and that the Type 80 tank was not only cheap but also a second-generation main battle tank.

So they chose the Type 80 tank without hesitation and made it the second-generation main battle tank of the Yan State military.

As for the Apocalypse tanks, they were only purchased in small batches.

Now the situation has changed and the defects of the Apocalypse Tank have been solved.

The 077 Mechanical Military Factory invested 760 million US dollars to purchase the 12-horsepower four-stroke V-46-cylinder V- diesel engine technology and related production lines from the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau.

This tank engine is much more advanced than the tank engine installed on the Type 80 tank.

Anyone with a discerning eye can see that the Apocalypse Tank just needs to continue to advance according to the original design and development plan.

In the near future, the Apocalypse Tank will be successfully rolled off the production line.

When others are not optimistic, you are the most competitive. Isn’t this what the 077 Mechanical Arsenal is talking about?

Among the numerous third-line military factories, the 077 Mechanical Military Factory is undoubtedly the most dazzling star.

Not only did it successfully escape the plight of being on the verge of bankruptcy and achieve a ”turnaround”, but it also became a benchmark for Yan Country’s third-tier military factories with its unique innovative spirit and outstanding technical strength.

By cleverly modifying the Type 59 tank and converting it into a civilian engineering vehicle, it has made its mark in the fiercely competitive civilian engineering vehicle market.

Their products are of excellent quality and performance and are highly favored by customers at home and abroad.

Especially in the overseas market, it has achieved huge success, suppressing other civilian engineering vehicle companies from raising their heads.

In addition, the 077 Mechanical Military Factory opened up a new trade route: Yan Country - Mao Xiong.

It directly expanded the business scope of the 077 Machinery Military Factory and brought considerable economic benefits.

And at the bidding conference for the second-generation main battle tanks in Yan State, the 077 Mechanical Military Factory displayed an eye-catching advanced main battle tank - the Apocalypse Tank.

The outstanding performance of this tank won unanimous praise from the top military officials of Yan State. However, due to some defects in the tank engine, it was not purchased on a large scale by the Yan State military.

And now the 077 Mechanical Arsenal has taken another important step.

A cooperation agreement was reached with the Uralvagonzavod Design Bureau.

They spared no expense, spending US$760 million to purchase 12-horsepower four-stroke V-46-cylinder V- diesel engine technology and its related production lines from the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau.

……

Lin Chenran stayed in the imperial capital compound for a few days and then left secretly.

Song Xiyun has sent several telegrams and made phone calls to Lin Chenran, asking him why he returned to Linjiang Province.

There are a lot of things in the factory that need Lin Chenran to solve.

The first batch of 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine information has been delivered to the 077 Mechanical Military Factory, and Lin Chenran needs to sign for it.

This time, Lin Chenran did not take a car back, but chose a faster flight.

……

After more than three hours of flight, Lin Chenran finally returned to Linjiang Province.

Song Xiyun received the news early in the morning and arranged for special personnel to go to the airport to welcome his factory director.

At the same time, Mr. Zhu also set out from the 617 Mechanical Arsenal, heading for the 077 Mechanical Arsenal.
