Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 72 The price is a bit expensive, 65 US dollarsChapter 72 The price is a bit high, million US dollars
After hearing this, Lin Chenran instantly understood what Kovlevich meant.

Kovlevich and the senior executives behind him thought that the price of 50 million US dollars was too low and could not satisfy their ”appetite”. They hoped that Lin Chenran could raise the price.

Lin Chenran cursed inwardly: ”These old foxes are so greedy!

However, Lin Chenran could accept a 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine as long as the price was not too excessive.

Anyway, he received 250 million US dollars from Saudi Arabia in the Camel region.

He doesn’t have to pay, so...

”Kovlevich, my friend, what is the price of the Uralvagonzavod Design Bureau?”

”If the price is too high, our 077 Machinery Arsenal will definitely not be able to afford it.”

Lin Chenran’s words imply that Kovlevich and others can earn more profits, but they cannot treat him as a ”sucker” to ”dig up gold coins”.

Kovlevich thought to himself, ”It’s really easiest to deal with smart people.”

”Those senior executives from the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau a few days ago disgusted me to death. What the hell, if it wasn’t for Lin Chenran wanting the technology and production line related to the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-shaped 12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine in your hands.”

Then, Kovlevich directly stated that the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau was selling the relevant technology of the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine and the price of the production line.

”Sixty-five million US dollars!!!”

Kovlevich said this solemnly, as if he had done his best in it.

This is the final price!

”hiss!”

The top executives of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory nearby all gasped. Sixty-five million US dollars! They had never seen so much money in their lives.

Then Kovlevich explained the allocation of expenses to Lin Chenran in detail: ”Lin, I don’t want to hide it from you. The 55 million US dollars is used to pay the expenses of the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau, and the remaining 10 million US dollars is used to open up various relationships and channels. ”

He then confessed: ”In reality, I personally only got $500,000 from it.”

Lin Chenran did not intend to investigate further as to whether Kovlevich really only earned a mere US$500,000.

He also hopes Kovlevich can get more benefits from the deal.

In this way, Kovlevich will be firmly under his control.

There is an old saying: ”It is easy to go from frugality to luxury, but it is difficult to go from luxury to frugality.”

Once Kovlevich got used to a life of luxury, it became very difficult to return to a frugal lifestyle.

……

After Lin Chenran heard Kovlevich say 65 million US dollars, he fell into deep thought.

In fact, he was very happy inside!
It is worth spending only 760 million US dollars to obtain the technology and production line of the 12-horsepower four-stroke V-46-cylinder V- diesel engine in the hands of the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau.

Although this tank engine technology is relatively backward in the hands of the Russian Bear, it is quite advanced when it is brought to the international and domestic markets.

It’s totally worth spending 65 million US dollars to introduce it.

But now Lin Chenran had to pretend to be in a very difficult situation, and he also had to argue with reason to make Kovlevich feel that he didn’t have to spend so much money to introduce a 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine.

Lin Chenran knew very well that if no agreement could be reached, Kovlevich might ask for an exorbitant price, and he would have to pay a huge price to get the 760-horsepower four-stroke V-12-cylinder V-46 diesel engine.

There are precedents for this kind of thing, and those people often ask for exorbitant amounts of money.

”Kovlevich, can we discuss the price?”

”Sixty-five million dollars is a huge sum of money for us. Given the current financial situation of our 077 Mechanical Arsenal, we simply cannot afford such a high cost.”

”Fifty million dollars is the limit we can afford.” Lin Chenran said with difficulty. The reason why Lin Chenran behaved like this was because he knew the other party’s psychology very well.

If he seemed too eager or generous, the other party would surely take advantage of the situation and raise the price.

So he deliberately acted hesitant and torn.

Kovlevich hesitated for a moment, and began to feel conflicted.

In fact, according to the information he had, although the 077 Machinery Military Factory was now thriving in the civilian engineering vehicle market, their profits were still far from US$ million.

However, the senior executives of the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau asked for an exorbitant price.

They will not sell their tank engine technology for less than US$55 million.

His superiors also expressed dissatisfaction with this, believing that he had gained too little benefit.

In desperation, all the pressure was concentrated on Kovlevich alone.

In the end, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and make an offer of up to 65 million US dollars to Lin Chenran.

”This……”

”Lin, I’m in a difficult situation too.”

”Sixty-five million dollars is our lowest price.”

Kovlevich directly insisted on 65 million US dollars, and said that as long as Lin Chenran could afford this price, he would facilitate the cooperation between the Ural Locomotive and Rolling Stock Plant Design Bureau and Lin Chenran. Otherwise...

”Kovlevich, this...”

For a time, the negotiations reached a deadlock.

After thinking for a moment, Lin Chenran said slowly: ”Kovlevich, can you let me go back and think about it?”

”This price is too high. We need to go back and discuss it with the senior management of the factory.”

Lin Chenran frowned and said.

Kovlevich’s heart tightened. If the top management of the 077 Mechanical Arsenal did not agree to spend so much money to purchase this tank engine technology, wouldn’t all his efforts be in vain?
Lin Chenran is well aware of negotiation skills and naturally would not agree to the other party’s request immediately.

He stood up and made a gesture to leave.

Kovlevich quickly said: ”No problem!”

Kovlevich sent Lin Chenran and others out of his small western-style building, stood at the door, and watched their figures gradually disappear from his sight.

After Lin Chenran walked out of the small western-style building, the corners of his mouth rose slightly.

He knew that this negotiation was already half successful.

Next, it depends on whether Kovlevich is willing to lower the price.

Even if he was unwilling to lower the price, Lin Chenran would agree to it.

Kovlevich returned to the house and called Leo Gago.

He said anxiously, ”General Gago, Lin Chenran is hesitant to spend $760 million to buy a 12-horsepower four-stroke V-46-cylinder V- diesel engine. He may back down because of the price.”

“We have to bring the price down a bit.”

Tens of millions of dollars in net income were right in front of him, and he didn’t want to watch it slip away.
