Global Cataclysm: Start building a floating island

Chapter 42

Chapter 42
Lin Ye picked up the photo frames scattered on the table, and the signature on the back made him frown.

He immediately turned around and looked at Major Sim, with a surprised look on his face:

”Are you the commander here?”

Sim was stunned for a moment, then laughed:
”Yes, after Erican withdrew his troops from Seria, the military department sent me to stay here permanently to maintain the base’s facilities on a daily basis for subsequent use.”

”This place is not bad. Why did you go to military base No. 11?” Lin Ye put down the document, curious about it.

Sim’s eyes were full, he looked at the photo frame that fell on the ground, and said slowly:
”There was originally a battalion stationed here, with about 600 people. Although the base area is very large, the defense facilities are insufficient.

After the catastrophe happened, we relied on the only weapons and supplies in the base and persisted for more than a month, but we still inevitably lost more than 200 people.

In desperation, we received a contact message from Military Base No. 11, so we led the remaining troops and supplies to join the colonel.

On the surface we are called reinforcements, but in fact we are going to take refuge. ”

After all, he smiled awkwardly, after all, for an officer, this is indeed an unspeakable matter.

Lin Ye patted the dust off the sofa, and while sitting on it, he turned his head and asked:

”Then why didn’t you leave with those officers before? After all, there are more than 100 people in the army. After all, they are stronger than the five of us!”

Sim took off his tactical helmet and put it on his desk, then wiped the fine sweat on his forehead and joked:

”I have to be responsible to the people under me. No matter what, I can’t give my life to those stupid guys!”

”So, you just left with us?” Lin Ye leaned on the sofa with a half-smile expression on his face, ”I tied you up before, aren’t you afraid that I’ll trick you again?”

Sim sat on the chair and shrugged:

”I don’t know if it’s a trap or not, but you have saved me twice before. After all, my life is yours!”

This sentence caused a trace of doubt in Lin Ye’s heart. It seemed that the major’s purpose was not pure.

After the two were silent for a while, Sim suddenly stood up, walked towards him, and said something abruptly:
”I heard you have a shelter?”

As soon as these words came out, everyone in the office raised their heads, especially Cheng Bei, whose eyes suddenly showed killing intent.

Lin Ye was also taken aback by this question, and responded in a panic: ”Why do you ask that?”

But when he looked at the other person’s expression, and then recalled the conversation just now, he suddenly frowned again:

”You don’t want to join our shelter, do you?”

”What’s wrong?” Sim nodded, folded his hands in front of him, his expression full of helplessness.

He walked to the window, looked at the doomsday scenery outside, and continued:
”Look at the soldiers below me, they are all yellow and thin, and they can’t even hold a gun.

The supplies taken from the storage point can last for a week at most. What should I do after that?
I am afraid that they will starve to death in the desert before establishing a resident. ”

The meaning of Major Sim’s words couldn’t be more obvious, but Lin Ye slowly sat up straight, spread his hands and said regretfully:

”But if so many of you join in, supplies will also be in short supply!”

His words were completely an excuse, the floating island was not short of resources, he wished for someone to help clean up the backlog of canned food.

And he also wants this group of people to join the floating island, after all, they are all elite soldiers who have been on the battlefield, and their abilities are much higher than ordinary people, which is a rare cornerstone of development.

But the main problem is not the supplies, but the second-level floating island that has not yet been upgraded [Resident Residence], which can only accommodate up to 10 residents.

Others can still join in, but those who exceed the upper limit of residence will not only not be able to enjoy attribute bonuses, but also cannot call them.

For example, dispatching to work in central facilities, or stationing guard towers, etc., rounding up is tantamount to wasting supplies in vain.

Beyond that, the loyalty of these people will also be an issue.

Lin Ye’s meaning is actually very clear, and Major Sim can naturally understand it.

He didn’t say anything more, turned around and sat back behind the desk, leaning against the back of the chair with a slumped face.

When everyone was silent, strange noises suddenly appeared around the base, accompanied by the undulating screams of zombies.

Suddenly, the soldiers on the first floor took up their weapons and ran outside the building to stand guard.

Sim put down the broken picture frame, took a deep breath, and rushed outside with a pistol in hand.

Lin Ye led the others to the corridor, and picked up the binoculars to observe the specific situation outside the base.

If it were just some wandering zombies, it would not be a difficult task for them.

Except for Lin Ye and his party who used special biochemical weapons, the remaining 30 soldiers were also elite Erikan Army soldiers who had narrowly escaped death. Not to mention accurate marksmanship, they would not panic in the face of such a scene.

However, there are still many zerg mixed in the corpse group approaching the base, such as the huge cracked rock spider.

Although ordinary firearms cannot cause effective damage to them, fortunately they also have heavy weapons such as tanks and armored vehicles.

Therefore, these alien creatures pose no threat to the base.

Lin Ye and Major Sim commanded their respective teams to carry out defensive counterattacks.

It was easy to deal with at first, but after more than ten minutes of fighting, Lin Ye found that the number of corpses and swarms was really surprising.

Perhaps it is because there are underground tunnels dug by titan worms in the ruins of the nearby city.

After all, for the complex terrain on the surface, a straight tunnel can greatly increase the speed of marching.

However, what is clear is that this battle is definitely commanded by high-level alien creatures.

They let the swarms attack the front of the base, resisting the artillery of tanks and armored vehicles, and then let a large number of zombies advance on both sides to surround the entire base.

The No. 8 military base does not have a wall with strong defense capabilities like Lin Ye’s floating island.

A simple explosion-proof wall filled with sand will not be of much use in the face of alien creatures.

A large number of zombies have climbed over the wall and rushed into the base.

If it is not dealt with in time, it is likely to put the communication facility in danger, even if it is a reinforced concrete structure.

Major Sim immediately dispatched soldiers, in a group of five, to intercept the fortifications around the facility.

Time didn’t pass quickly, but the inside and outside of the base were already full of corpses.

Under the suppression of everyone’s firepower, the offensive of alien creatures has been weakened, but this situation will not last long.

Because their number has not decreased yet, in the desert behind, there are still a large number of reinforcements encircling here.

But Lin Ye’s weapons and ammunition couldn’t withstand consumption. They didn’t get much supplies from the storage point before.

And these alien creatures, especially zombies, don’t have any pain and fear at all.

They have only one goal, and that is to devour all living things in front of them.

In the circular fortification in front of the communication facility, Lin Ye repelled several zombies rushing up.

While replenishing the bullets, he picked up the binoculars to observe the surrounding situation.

Judging from the current situation, it seems that the situation encountered by the No. 11 military base is not much better.

Of course, the former fell in a short period of time, entirely because the soldiers in the base neglected their duties and the officers were negligent.

At this moment, an abnormal situation suddenly appeared in the desert Gobi a few kilometers away.
