Global Cataclysm: Start building a floating island

Chapter 10 Temporary stronghold

Chapter 10 Temporary stronghold
It is now noon, and there are still about ten hours before the second stage of the catastrophe.

According to the scale in the combat map, the distance between the two places is about [-] kilometers.

Not counting emergencies, it takes more than an hour to drive back and forth, which should be enough time.

Lin Ye put away the map and pistol, called Qin Lie, quickly returned to the floating island, and then drove the Marauder to the temporary stronghold.

Due to the continuous withdrawal of various troops, more and more zombies broke through the unguarded roadblocks and poured into every corner of the city.

Looking around, the streets are now full of wandering corpses, and the engine of the off-road vehicle is roaring, even driving a wave of small corpses.

If it weren’t for the excellent performance of the Predator and the unusually strong body, it would really be submerged in it.

Although there were no dangers during the journey, Lin Ye still noticed something strange.

These zombies have become much more violent, and their speed and strength have also been significantly improved!
He looked through the windshield at the towering portal in the center of the city, and found that the flow of particles lingering in it had become violent at some point.

There was even a discharge phenomenon on the frame made of black metal.

The thick electric current poured out violent energy, directly breaking down the surrounding high-rise buildings, and the accompanying high temperature also gradually melted the buildings.

These are all symptoms of changes in the cataclysmic phase, and as time goes on, such phenomena will appear more and more frequently.

The worry in Lin Ye’s heart became more and more intense. He stepped on the accelerator and drove towards the stronghold at full speed.

However, the zombies on the road were really wasting time, and they had to go around for more than 50 minutes before they approached their destination.

However, the scene in front of me was different from what I expected.

There were many corpses of soldiers wearing standard equipment lying around the stronghold. Lin Ye jumped out of the car and stepped forward to have a closer look.

He found that most of the corpses had been burned into coke by the flames. Although one or two of them were still intact, the human tissues on them had mutated, presumably infected with the zombie virus.

In addition, several protective nets were torn, and the gate of the stronghold became tattered and fell to the ground.

Although this temporary stronghold is also equipped with a protective net, the material is only ordinary metal wire, and the safety factor is not very high.

Could it be that they failed to hold back the tide of zombies last night?
With a gun in hand, Lin Ye slowly sneaked into the stronghold through the messy ground, while Qin Lie also cautiously followed behind him.

There were several armored vehicles parked in the open space on one side of the stronghold, but they were basically scrapped.

The car body collapsed and the outer shell was all white ash, some were still burning with blue-green flames, and the personnel carrier on the rear side was completely burned to the skeleton.

After a preliminary inspection, Lin Ye found that this place seemed to have experienced a violent explosion, and the source of the explosion came from the huge pit in the middle of the stronghold, where there were several deformed oil barrel bases.

Lin Ye took a deep look at the oil barrel, and then continued deeper into the back of the stronghold.

A hundred meters away, beside the camp that was not affected by the explosion, there were still some equipment boxes piled up, and weapons and ammunition were scattered all over the place.

Lin Ye looked around, and he found signs of retreating here, because there were still many marks of camps stationed in the open space.

And based on the calculation of the area of the stronghold, there are at least two regiments stationed here, so how can such a small amount of equipment be used!

Therefore, the troops should have already evacuated, but the troops that stayed here at the rear encountered a new crisis.

But the last wave of zombies should have ended last night!
What kind of crisis is it that can completely destroy the rear team?

The two continued to search in the stronghold, and suddenly, some slight movements came from the nearby large tent.

Lin Ye immediately picked up the gun, leaned down, leaned against the edge of the tent, and walked over quietly.

Through a gap in the door curtain, he found some people standing in the tent, all of them dressed in civilian clothes, but armed with assault rifles.

Lin Ye withdrew his gaze, this time he did not rush in, but pulled out the blast bomb from his tactical vest and threw it in.

Accompanied by a loud noise, panicked footsteps came from inside the tent, mixed with a few unsavory words.

Perhaps the attack was too sudden. The moment the shock bomb exploded, there were also intensive gunshots inside.

A large number of bullet holes appeared on the tarpaulin in an instant, and a string of bullet holes even floated to the roof of the shed.

After a while, the gunfire stopped, and the sounds of heavy objects falling to the ground were heard one after another.

Taking advantage of this gap, Lin Ye directly smashed the tent cloth in front of him, and rushed in with his body bent.

All the people in the tent fell to the ground, their bodies were covered with bullet holes, and bright red blood kept gushing from the wounds.

The assault rifles in their hands were all empty, and the smoking shells fell to the ground.

Looking at the horrible scene in front of him, Lin Ye shook his head:
”Good guy, all of them died in the hands of our own people, but you really belonged to them!”

He didn’t intend to kill anyone, he just wanted to catch some people alive and inquire about the situation of the temporary stronghold.

Lin Ye looked around and found a man lying in a corner who was still alive.

So he walked forward quickly and squatted beside him, but before he could speak, the guy picked up the rifle on the side and tried to fight back.

The situation was critical, and Lin Ye had no time to think about it. He subconsciously pulled out a dagger from his boot and stuck it directly in the opponent’s head.

The man’s body twitched, and he rolled his eyes and became lifeless.

”Holy shit!”

Seeing this situation, Lin Ye couldn’t help but cursed angrily.

This is all a conditioned reflex trained on the battlefield in the previous life, and I can’t even stop it!

He originally wanted to ask what happened in the temporary stronghold, but now it’s good, everyone is hiccupping!

Just when he was extremely remorseful, Qin Lie’s voice came from outside the tent:

”Brother Lin, there is something wrong here!”

When Lin Ye heard the words, he immediately stood up and rushed out, following the sound to a small tent.

Qin Lie was facing the curtain of the tent, aiming the gun with his finger on the trigger, ensuring that he could beat the opponent into a sieve if there was any trouble.

At this time, the sound of tapping metal barrels came from the tent, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.

Lin Ye paused for a while, and suddenly noticed the hidden information, so he immediately put down the gun, ready to go in to see the situation.

But who would have imagined that there was a loud ”bang” in the tent, and then a large oil drum slowly rolled out of it.

Qin Lie, who was already so nervous that his legs were trembling, pulled the trigger without thinking.

Fortunately, Lin Ye reacted quickly enough, quickly pressed down the barrel of the rifle, and all the dozen or so bullets hit the ground.

”This is an oil barrel, if it explodes, we both have to die on the spot!”

He let go of the hand holding the gun body, pinched his waist and took a breath.

Tsk, it’s really hard for newcomers!
”Brother Lin, I’m sorry, I thought it was the enemy!” Qin Lie quickly turned his head to explain, while trembling, he put on a new magazine.

During the conversation, there was another sound of knocking on the oil drum in the tent. The people inside seemed to have heard the movement outside, so this time the knocking was a little hasty and angry.

”Hey, my own man, he typed a piece of Morse code just now, which means SOS!” Lin Ye shook his head helplessly, he stopped the rolling oil drum with his feet, and then entered the tent.
