Global Cataclysm: Start building a floating island

Chapter 41 Military Base No. 8

Chapter 41 Military Base No. 8

Lin Ye took the binoculars and quickly ran to the warehouse door.

In the not very clear field of vision, one can vaguely see a huge wriggling figure next to the burning car wreckage.

That’s the titan worm!

On the distant rock wall, a group of third-tier zombies-stalkers all stood upright and transformed into tall black figures.

They, those silicon-based creatures, don’t seem to want to let Lin Ye go.

Accompanied by a scream, the group of zombies that had already been ambushing around surrounded them from all directions, like a raging black wave.

In the sand in front of the storage point, vortices also appeared, and a large number of Zerg came out from underneath.

Lin Ye wanted to discuss the countermeasures with everyone, but he didn’t expect that the officers and more than 70 soldiers did not even say hello, they just took the equipment and materials, got on the armored vehicles and heavy tanks, and ran away decisively.

Lin Ye looked at the convoy going away, full of swear words but didn’t know where to start.

But no matter what, he has the floating island as his backing and a powerful system to give him all kinds of support, so he doesn’t panic at all in this scene of zombie siege.

As long as you can avoid the pursuit of silicon-based creatures, everything is easy to talk about!

At this time, Lin Ye turned around and looked at Major Sim and the remaining 30 soldiers.

”What should you do? You can’t stick to such a small place!”

Sim thought for a while, then took out the combat map from his arms, and found a square mark in the southwest direction:

”This is the No. 8 military base where I used to be. Although it is now abandoned, there are reinforced concrete buildings there, which can barely withstand it for a while.”

”Military Base No. 8?” Lin Ye looked at the mark and asked in confusion.

Major Sim nodded in response, and briefly explained a few words:
”At that time, it was temporarily built for the purpose of gathering troops. The outer walls were all simple blast-proof walls filled with sand, and several reinforced concrete facilities inside were built to prevent missile strikes by Seria armed groups.”

According to the distance on the map and converted according to the scale, the two places are roughly 130 kilometers apart.

It’s a bit far away, but it’s better than staying at this weakly protected storage point.

Lin Ye nodded to confirm the destination, and at the same time formulated an action plan.

Everyone quickly started to pack and take away all the materials that could be carried in the warehouse, and then drove the remaining heavy tanks and armored vehicles to the No. 8 base.

Alien creatures surrounded them very quickly, and in just a few minutes, the surrounding sand dunes and Gobi were full of zombies and rift rock spiders.

There are also a large number of rock fragments, which escaped from the thrower’s hands like cannonballs and blasted towards the fleeing crowd.

Not far away, there was a continuous sound of gunfire behind him.

Not long after the battle, violent explosions resounded through the sky and the earth.

In the desert a few kilometers away, the flames shot straight into the sky.

That was the convoy where the officers were. They failed to escape from the encirclement and were all wiped out under the mighty body of the titan worm.

Fortunately, this group of people ran away first, attracting the main firepower of alien creatures, otherwise, Lin Ye and the others would suffer.

Lin Ye directed the convoy and rushed to the weakest position of the zombie group, then took out a special grenade from the supply box and threw it out along the way.

The released gray-green smoke quickly spread around with the wind.

A large number of zombies abandoned the speeding armored vehicles and tanks, turned their targets and rushed towards the location of the grenade.

A few seconds later, all of them were annihilated in a series of explosions.

The bugs blocking the way in front are not a problem either. Although the Rift Rock Spider is huge and its armor is extremely strong, it is still not enough for the main battle tank built by human technology.

The 120mm high-pressure smoothbore gun is paired with the M829A3 depleted uranium armor-piercing projectile, which directly smashes the bugs blocking the way into slag.

The 7.62mm machine gun and 12.7mm machine gun interweave a firepower network that can clear any obstacles ahead.

Even if there was a fish that slipped through the net, they were crushed under the tracks of the rampaging tanks, and eventually exploded to death.

Without the threat of the Titan Worm, they successfully broke through the encirclement and headed for Base 8 at full speed.

Along the way, Lin Ye was observing the situation on the road behind. Fortunately, those difficult silicon-based creatures hadn’t caught up yet, and there wasn’t a large area of white smoke on the ground.

In this way, it can be regarded as temporarily escaped from the pursuit of the United Alien Army.

The No. 8 military base is about 130 kilometers away from the material storage point just now. According to the top speed of the M1A2SEP main battle tank, it is estimated that it will take more than two hours.

However, this time is enough for him to study Seria’s map markers and make plans in advance for the next transfer.

It seems that during this trip to Seria, he couldn’t get rid of the entanglement of silicon-based creatures.

The convoy was driving in the vast desert, and the sky was shrouded in oppressive clouds.

According to the current deployment of troops, Lin Ye selected the bases of several armed organizations, as well as an abandoned town on the edge of Mag City.

This town is rich in iron ore and rare metals, and these materials are essential if weapons and equipment are to be manufactured in batches.

After two hours of long bumps, the convoy finally arrived at base 8 without any risk.

To be on the safe side, Lin Ye decided to observe the situation of the base first.

Through the car radio, he asked the commanders to park the armored vehicles and tanks on a high slope one kilometer away.

Then activate the thermal imaging system installed inside the tank, and conduct an overall observation of the base through the scope.

From the outside, the area of this base is much larger than Base No. 11, and there are even airstrips and hangars inside.

However, the two hangars have collapsed, and the fighter planes stored in them may have turned into a pile of wreckage.

As Sim said at the time, there is a two-story concrete building in the center of the base. Even after a strong earthquake, there are not many cracks on the wall, and it looks very solid.

There are still traces of the original battle on the outer explosion-proof wall. Many geotextiles have been blackened by the war and are covered with claw marks. In some places, there are dense bullet holes, and there are even dried corpses of Zerg.

The sandy ground of the base is full of large and small potholes. This situation is the same as that of the No. 11 base.

The Zerg dig a tunnel to enter the interior of the base, and then cooperate with the surrounding zombies to attack from inside and outside.

Without strong fire support, an ordinary base would not be able to stop such a fierce attack.

But at this time, there were no zombies or Zerg in the base, and they seemed to have abandoned this dilapidated place.

After confirming that there was no danger inside, Lin Ye led the convoy into the base slowly.

”This was originally a command room with communication equipment inside, but it’s useless at this time!”

Under the leadership of Major Sim, everyone entered the building.

The place is still the same as when I left it. The desktop and bookcases are extremely messy, and there are unfinished documents on the floor.

After checking the condition of the building, the soldiers directly sat on the first floor to rest.

Lin Ye brought his own people along the dark stairs to the second floor and entered the office at the end of the corridor.
