Chapter 4 Ordinary Citizens

Chapter 4 Ordinary Citizens

As a gentleman, a good citizen.

Lin Ye would never lie to others.

And as he said, ordinary people infected with the zombie virus generally cannot survive for 12 hours, and then they will transform into brutal walking zombies.

However, Qin Lie has a special physique, drink plenty of hot water, wait for a few days, and all the inactivated viruses will be automatically excreted from the body.

Qin Lie, who was standing opposite, also looked puzzled at this moment.

He was walking well on the road, and suddenly a stranger dressed strangely appeared and said some strange words.

His eyes were full of wariness: ”Why should I believe you?”

Lin Ye saw his worries, so he chuckled lightly:
”Only I can understand my physical condition. If you don’t treat it, you must understand what the consequences will be!”

As he spoke, he took out a crushed box from his backpack and handed it over.

”I have a special medicine here, you try it!”

Qin Lie looked down, only to find that Lin Ye was holding a pack of cigarettes.

He fell silent suddenly.

When he escaped from the refuge last night, he was attacked by zombies. Although he escaped the danger fortunately, he was accidentally bitten.

He wanted to go to the hospital in the city to look for some medicines, but the reaction to the virus was stronger than he imagined. It was a miracle that he could walk twenty kilometers to this square.

And as far as he understood, it had been three months since the disaster started, but humans had no way to deal with these alien zombies, let alone so-called special medicine or virus serum.

It’s all in vain.

Qin Lie hesitated for a moment, finally heaved a long sigh, and took it.

With trembling hands, he took out the last cigarette from the box, held it between his chapped lips, and caught the lighter that Lin Ye handed over.

Then, a yellow-white flame ignited the cigarette butt, and a plume of intoxicating smoke rose.

Because nicotine can suppress emotions, soothe nerves, and allow people to enjoy a moment of relaxation, such items are hard currency in the doomsday wasteland.

Sometimes, a pack of cigarettes is more useful than those gold and diamonds.

In order to save survival points in this life, Lin Ye did not unlock the technology related to tobacco manufacturing, nor was he willing to buy finished products in the system mall.

The small half pack of cigarettes on his body was lucky enough to be taken out of the dead man by chance.

Lin Ye held the butt of the cigarette and took a sip. After tasting it, he threw it away.

He raised his head and looked at the person opposite: ”How is it, is your breathing much easier now?”

Hearing this, Qin Lie, who was still on guard, immediately covered his chest and tried to take a few breaths, then he raised his head with a very complicated expression.

”It’s indeed unobstructed, and... the vision is much clearer, what’s going on?”

”Want to know the reason?” Lin Ye smiled mysteriously.

Qin Lie nodded.

Lin Ye crossed his arms and stomped on the cigarette butt on the ground with his toes:

”Well, my family is pretty big. Why don’t you go back with me and I’ll tell you everything I know!”

”This...” Qin Lie suddenly felt a little hairy in his heart.

Lin Ye spread his hands with a wicked smile on his face: ”You have nowhere to go anyway, so why not stay at my place? We can take care of each other at least!”

Qin Lie slowly extinguished the cigarette in his hand, and then said cautiously: ”If I refuse, what will be the consequences?”

Lin Ye took off his bulletproof helmet and scratched his head: ”That’s okay, but no one can share the food in my warehouse!”

”Okay, I’ll go!” Qin Lie suddenly straightened his waist and said firmly.

This sentence made Lin Ye a little surprised. How could such an imposing God of War betray himself for food?

He looked at Qin Lie’s bruised face and smiled slightly: ”Oh, that’s right!”

After finishing speaking, he returned to the side of the predator, opened the rear compartment, took out the weapon box that had been prepared, and took out a foldable mechanical exoskeleton and a complete set of protective equipment from the box, then looked at Qin Lie:
”Don’t stand there stupidly. There are some initial equipment in the box. You put it on first!”

The mechanical exoskeleton can bear a load of 60KG, and the battery in the backpack can provide 8 hours of battery life.

Protective equipment includes bulletproof helmets, body armor and tactical vests. The carbon fiber armor covering the surface can effectively block the attacks of zombies.

Glancing at the things on the ground, Qin Lie noticed at this moment that the person in front of him was full of sophisticated weapons and equipment, which could almost run rampant in the urban area where zombies were ravaging.

He spoke with some difficulty: ”Who are you, and why do you have these equipment?”

”Me? Just an ordinary citizen!” Lin Ye chuckled, then handed over the body armor and urged, ”Hurry up and put it on!”

While Qin Lie was wearing the body armor, Lin Ye took out another assault rifle from the metal box, and stuffed a few magazines tied together in pairs into the pocket of the opponent’s tactical vest:
”You should be familiar with these things! This is the SCAR-L assault rifle that I specially selected. It is light and portable, with small shooting recoil. It is very suitable for newbies to use. It can be changed into three forms by adding or removing accessories. It is an ideal choice for urban street fighting. the best choice!”

According to previous understanding of Qin Lie, he should have just completed his military service for less than half a year at this time, so using firearms should not be difficult for him.

Qin Lie stood aside blankly, looking at the young man who was about the same age as him, unable to hide his astonishment.

ordinary citizen?
Ordinary citizens have to hide more than ten meters away even to set off a firecracker!
But this guy in front of him is proficient in using controlled dangerous goods like a veteran.

Maybe he won more medals than the certificates he got from his nine-year compulsory education.

While Qin Lie was still debugging the mechanical exoskeleton, Lin Ye came to the revolving door of the shopping mall with a gun in hand.

Under the roar of the AA-12 fully automatic shotgun, the tempered glass turned into debris flying all over the sky, and the powerful fragmentation bullet also caused the walking corpse standing behind the glass to fall apart in an instant.

However, as the barrier disappeared, thousands of walking corpses in the shopping mall rushed out of the gap roaring.

Lin Ye turned around and waved to the stunned Qin Lie: ”Come here and feel their enthusiasm!”

Qin Lie held up the gun with a trembling hand, and beads of sweat gradually appeared on his forehead.

For ordinary people, when encountering these terrifying-looking and extremely aggressive walking corpses in front of them, let alone take up weapons to fight back, they may not even have time to run.

But when Lin Ye faced them, he didn’t feel timid at all.

His calm and scary eyes were in stark contrast to the flames gushing from the barrel of the shotgun.

This wasn’t just Lin Ye’s courage. He spent nearly half of his previous life dealing with alien creatures, and his body and mind had long been numb.

When he was marching north with the army, he could only fall asleep with a gun in his arms, but even so, he could still see those ugly monsters chasing after him in his dreams.

But today is different from the past, and now he seems to be a beta tester in the doomsday game.

Not to mention these low-level zombies, even if the Lord of the Walking Corpses came, he would still be able to crush them!

The gunshots rang out for more than half an hour, and now there was only a single aluminum alloy frame left behind the revolving door and the glass curtain wall next to it.

The marble floor within a hundred meters was completely shattered into slag, and the exposed cement layer was covered with bullet holes.

Lin Ye shook his slightly sore arm, then loaded the last magazine, pulled the bolt, and entered the mall with the gun in hand.

After confirming that there were no fish that slipped through the net, he came out with a gun in his hand, and heaved a sigh of relief.

Looking at the corpses all over the square, Qin Lie, who was standing in front of the shopping mall, had a pale complexion at this moment.

He tightly gripped the handle of the gun body, and it took him a long time to utter a word:

”Will all this end?”

”End?” Lin Ye kicked away the corpses piled on the ground and strode to Qin Lie’s side.

He patted the other party’s shoulder, and then raised the corner of his mouth slightly:
”Actually, the end has just begun!”
