I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 428 - 428 412 5th Circle Spell428: Chapter 412: 5th Circle Spell 428: Chapter 412: 5th Circle Spell Just like before, after upgrading, her Life Value increased by 80 points and Mana Value by 10 points, but the biggest change was the acquisition of new Profession Skills and Spells.

Mu Ying opened the attribute panel to check the information on her Profession Skills.

[Poison Immunity: Your body, through natural cleansing, is immune to all poisons.]

A simple sentence, yet the effect was extraordinary—it was a passive skill that took effect naturally after the upgrade, requiring no learning.

Mu Ying herself didn’t feel anything at all; she thought for a moment and, without any protection, walked into her hut filled with poisonous mushrooms such as hallucinogenic mushrooms and itching mushrooms.

In the past, she had to cover her nose and mouth with Defense Magic and handle it carefully whenever she approached these plants, but this time she entered without any protection and was absolutely fine.

Only then did she truly appreciate the effect of Poison Immunity.

The Neutralize Poison Spell in the 4th Magic Ring was just learned not long ago, and now she had this skill, which meant Neutralize Poison could only be used to detoxify others or for protection from now on.

Still, Mu Ying was very happy; after all, toxins and psychic attacks were areas where shields and armors couldn’t protect.

This directly addressed half of her vulnerabilities.

She continued to look at the 5th ring of Spells.

In the Magic List, there were fewer Spells in the 5th ring than in the 4th, only 12.

Mu Ying sighed silently upon reviewing these Spells.

Was being a Druid in the later stages all about defense and support, with no turning back?

Out of the fourteen spells, two could barely be considered Attack Spells.

There was only the super-upgraded version of the Summoning Lightning Skill, the Thunderstorm Skill, which was purely an Attack Magic and also an area attack at that.

The rest, like Mutated Animals and Summoning Elemental Beings, could cause damage, but it depended on the situation; each could only be considered half an Attack Spell.

Mutated Animals could increase an animal’s size by one level, for instance, from large to extra-large, along with a corresponding increase in Physical Fitness.

However, she needed suitable targets for the spellcasting, and it was best used on medium or large animals.

Currently, the suitable targets around Mu Ying were only Gungun, the Sky Wolf Pack, and Da Ming when he grew up.

But Mu Ying was uncomfortable letting animal companions assist her in direct combat.

Not only was it dangerous, but she couldn’t rescue them in time if anything happened.

In addition, a 5th ring Spell would consume 25 Mana Value each time, and the duration wasn’t long.

With her current level, it couldn’t last even ten minutes, far less efficient than using Magic Ring Upgrades to cast lower ring Spell-like effects.

Summoning Elemental Beings was more cost-effective because the beings summoned stayed for a longer duration.

However, just learning summoning Spells didn’t guarantee the summoning of beings with matching strength; it was a two-way selection process.

She needed to summon them frequently, establish good relations, so they wouldn’t let her down during crucial moments on the battlefield.

Moreover, different types of Elemental Beings had their preferences.

Without sufficient affinity, she wouldn’t be able to summon helpful allies.

There were Defense Spells like the Thorny Wall Skill and the Death Protection Barrier.

The Thorny Wall Skill was straightforward, but Mu Ying was particularly interested in Death Protection Barrier after looking at its effect.

If a target’s Life Value dropped to zero with this spell applied, the barrier would immediately restore 1 Life Value to them, after which the spell’s effect would terminate.

It was somewhat like the Bloodsucker’s Fog Escape ability—a lifesaving Spell.

This 1 Life Value might seem trivial, but it could unexpectedly be the key to escape.

Furthermore, the recipient would be immune to all Death Magic, Magic Death Effects, Energy Absorption, and other negative energy effects, with the Spell lasting up to eight hours, effectively adding another layer of insurance to one’s life.

After reviewing it, Mu Ying prioritized this Spell high on her study list.

The remaining Spells were supportive in nature.

However, supportive Spells didn’t mean they were weak.

Mu Ying, who had once deceived Sharon to death with a simple Stone Shaping Technique, would not underestimate supportive Spells.

Sometimes, these Spells could be more effective than the stronger Attack Spells.

After examining the general effects of these Spells, Mu Ying found herself in a dilemma; she was very eager to try each one of them.

For instance, the Enlightenment Skill, which could endow animals or plants with humanlike Intelligence—raising Intelligence to 10—and teach them to speak a Language that she knew.

If the target was a plant, it would gain the ability to move using branches, vines, tendrils, or similar parts and receive senses akin to those of humans.

The enlightened entities would be very friendly towards the caster and comply with some of her requests.

With this Spell, she could have a bunch of small animals or plants that could move and talk, just like humans, to help her with chores—how adorable that would be!

However, after carefully reviewing the information on this Spell, Mu Ying realized that Enlightenment came with a cost: every casting required an Elemental Gem and even resulted in a loss of Experience Points.

She had Elemental Gems, but her Experience Points were scarce.

If the subject of Enlightenment was too strong, she might even be downgraded; it truly was a sacrifice-oriented Spell.

With her current strength, she could only try it on animals and plants that had an Intelligence lower than 3 and were weaker; the loss of Experience Points wouldn’t be much, but such creatures wouldn’t be of much help in combat.

At most, they could help her take care of plants, though Gem Fairies were better at that.

As much as she liked the idea of being surrounded by anthropomorphic animals and plants, she still had to prioritize practicality, so she would reluctantly postpone learning this Spell.

Other Spells included Tree Jumping Skill, which allowed rapid jumping within trees in a 500-meter area; Inquire Nature, which briefly made one a part of nature to gain information about the surrounding terrain; the significantly more potent group and single target healing version of Healing Truth, the Healing Holy Word; Wind Phase which controlled the wind, and Fossil to Mud and Mud to Stone which allowed the transmutation of rock and earth.

Mu Ying determined that Tree Jumping Skill and Inquire Nature were priorities, the former being almost equivalent to Teleportation in forest environments, which could be quite effective in combat, while the latter would facilitate her in exploring outdoor terrains on future journeys.

She couldn’t overlook Healing Holy Word either, only Wind Phase, Fossil to Mud, and Mud to Stone had lower applicability and could be temporarily postponed.

Just like before, Mu Ying took a Parchment and ranked these Spells: Thunderstorm Skill, Thorny Wall Skill, Tree Jumping Skill, Death Protection Barrier, Healing Holy Word, Inquire Nature, Summoning Elemental Beings, Mutated Animals, controlling Wind Phase, Enlightenment Skill, Mud to Stone, Fossil to Mud.
