I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 416 - 416 404 Transformation Moss416: Chapter 404: Transformation Moss 416: Chapter 404: Transformation Moss The Disguise Potion still lacked a few supplementary herbs, so Mu Ying briefly set it aside, deciding to wait.

With some time to kill, she picked up the incomplete formulas for the Human Leg Potion and Amnesia Potion she had previously acquired from the Mermaid Royal Family and started to study them to pass the time.

Suddenly, she remembered that the severe side effect of the Human Leg Potion, which caused mermaids to feel as if they were walking on knife edges after growing legs, was due entirely to the incompatibility of the herbal medicine responsible for the transformation.

In fact, rather than being suited for a beneficial Magic Potion, it was more appropriate for creating a disfiguring Poison.

Could transformation moss be a substitute for that herb?

Just as she was about to gather some transformation moss to test, the Dingling Flower rang out – it was the flower bud from Senior Sister Rosie that was trembling.

“Hello?

Senior Sister?”

“Are you alright?

You said you were just going out to watch the excitement, but it’s been several days and you haven’t returned,” Senior Sister Rosie sounded a bit worried.

Mu Ying suddenly felt that being alone in the bottom of this well to study transformation moss was too lonely – it would be better to lure her Senior Sister to keep her company.

How to entice a green witch was something she, a green witch herself, was most skilled at.

“Senior Sister, you’ll never guess what I’ve discovered!”

She played coy at first.

“What?”

“Transformation moss!

The one used in the legendary Disguise Potion – there’s a whole lot of it, and I’m researching whether it can be transplanted.

Come quickly and help me!”

“Where are you?”

“In the back garden of the Royal Palace of the Golden Ball Kingdom.

Go find Yiyeta and ask her to bring you here.

Tell her I have a big project that I need her help with!”

“Alright, I’ll be there immediately!” Senior Sister spoke much faster than usual.

Mu Ying couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Later, she had to handle a package delivery from the Witch Association, and Mu Ying suddenly thought that going in and out like this was not the solution.

Considering she, along with Senior Sister Rosie, would probably need to stay here by this pool for a while longer, it might be better to expand this place.

That same evening, Senior Sister Rosie and Yiyeta arrived.

This time they both descended to the pool at the bottom of the well.

As soon as Senior Sister Rosie arrived, her eyes glued to the transformation moss hanging from the cave ceiling, “This place is too well-hidden; no wonder no witch has discovered it for so long.

How did you come across it while you were out?”

“I heard that the Golden Ball Princess, who was engaged to Prince Ronald, was being pursued by a Prince Toad said to be cursed by an Evil Witch.

But finding no trace of the curse on him, I followed him here,” Mu Ying introduced them to the Prince Toad.

Prince Toad: “...”

His Zedi Kingdom had never been this bustling!

After hearing Mu Ying’s story, Rosie and Yiyeta turned their attention to the trembling toads in the pool, especially the Prince Toad.

“Lucky you, the effect of the transformation moss has undergone a spontaneous mutation on you,” Rosie remarked, marvelling at the Prince Toad.

In the end, the three of them decided to carve a small doorway into the section of the cave’s stone walls that lacked transformation moss, extend it out a bit, and then build a simple dwelling underground.

Then they would dig a passage that connected the dwelling with the surface, with the entrance set in a Stone Mountain in the woodland of the Royal Palace’s back garden.

Building houses was Yiyeta’s expertise; she also knew how to inscribe shielding Magic Power.

Simply placing it at the Stone Mountain’s exit meant they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone breaking in.

The construction was an easy task for Yiyeta and was completed that very night, with the well entrance restored to its original state.

Mu Ying and Rosie temporarily settled there, trying to transplant and cultivate the transformation moss.

This was a monopoly business just like the Dingling Flower if they succeeded in mass cultivation, it would represent yet another sizable fortune.

Because of the lifespan discrepancy between witches and humans, every witch who spends a significant amount of time in the human world will at some point need to change their appearance.

Unlike the Dingling Flower, the effect of the Disguise Potion is temporary; it’s a consumable item.

Once the formula is developed, there’s no worry about sales, and money will then be earned hand over fist.

The formula for the Disguise Potion is no longer a secret these days, and can be acquired for a little spending.

For Rosie, this is indeed significant.

With this potion, she would soon achieve financial independence.

Mu Ying placed greater importance on the value of the transformation moss and the Disguise Potion themselves, as they are very useful even in reality.

If she really could make it, she would be able to create an alias for herself in her territory, without having to fear being gawked at, and she wouldn’t hesitate to go to public places like taverns anymore.

If she wanted to hear the local people’s opinions about her, she could change her appearance and use an alias to listen in.

When going out, she also wouldn’t have to worry about being recognized immediately because of her characteristic dark green hair.

In short, the benefits were numerous; she was determined to obtain the transformation moss and Disguise Potion.

With so many moss samples here, if they were careful, it would be sufficient for their research.

She even decided to slow down on the last two fragments, choosing to overcome these difficulties before proceeding further.

To increase the success rate, Mu Ying even applied Blessing Magic to herself and Senior Sister Rosie.

In the dark underground, to facilitate their work, they planted some glowing plants at the bottom of the pool, which improved the environment there a bit.

Some aquatic plants also became new food for the toads.

The witches and the toads managed to coexist peacefully.

Sometimes, when bored, listening to toad gossip and discussing recent human gossip from the garden was quite enjoyable.

While there had not been any progress in transplanting and cultivating the transformation moss, Mu Ying succeeded in researching the Human Leg Potion that had no side effects.

They only needed to replace the potion responsible for the transformation with the more mild and highly compatible transformation moss.

Both Mu Ying and Rosie even successfully tried out the Disguise Potion themselves.

In the end, only the cultivation of the transformation moss remained.

This was the greatest challenge.

However, through their teamwork and continuous trial and error, Mu Ying and Rosie did make some progress.

After harvesting the mature spores of the transformation moss, they also manually aided their rapid propagation in the cave.

They managed to grow them in the original environment of the cave by carefully nurturing them with magic power, a successful step proving that their cultivation method itself had no issues—the issue lay in the environment.

Because of this, Mu Ying ordered a brand new Portable Medicine Garden with a custom environment from the Witch Association.

Entering this Portable Medicine Garden revealed a dim cave, with a pool at the bottom, perfectly simulating their current surroundings.

With this cave environment that differed little from their own, Mu Ying and the others finally made some headway.

They discovered that the environment indeed affected the growth of the transformation moss.

A sufficiently moist stone wall was a crucial condition, but most essential was that the wall could not be horizontal; they thrived better on inclined or even upside-down surfaces, and planting just a little at a time was not viable—they had to be planted in a cluster to grow.

No wonder wild transformation moss was so rare; their peculiar habits, upon being researched, were something even Mu Ying and Rosie could hardly believe.

If it weren’t for this large patch of transformation moss here, under conditions of limited samples, who would be willing to squander them in large quantities?
