I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 413 - 413 401 Prince Toad413: Chapter 401 Prince Toad 413: Chapter 401 Prince Toad Indeed, Mu Ying watched as Prince Toad left the Royal Capital of the Golden Ball Kingdom and entered a forest outside the city, moving stealthily and constantly watching his surroundings.

Eventually, he reached a large tree by a small river and buried a box filled with treasures under it.

If he had only come out to hide the treasures today, that might have been plausible, but right after that, he plunged into the river with a splash.

Being rejected in marriage wasn’t a reason to commit suicide, right?

Mu Ying saw a fully grown man jump into the river and then disappear without a trace, the splash of water seeming almost like an illusion.

Not long after, she saw a toad surface on the water.

If it weren’t for the fact that Mu Ying had secretly marked him with Magic Power when he left the city gates, she might really have thought she’d seen a ghost by now.

Her mark had transferred from Prince Toad onto the toad itself.

So the so-called ability of the Golden Ball Princess to break his curse and turn him back into a prince was a lie; he could actually switch back and forth between a toad and a prince on his own.

What Race was this?

Mu Ying had never heard of such a Race in the Emerald World before!

The toad began to swim upstream, and Mu Ying continued to follow.

Thankfully, the Magic Mark helped or she certainly would have lost it.

The final destination turned out to be a place Mu Ying had never expected: the back garden of the Royal Palace of the Golden Ball Kingdom.

The well in the back garden was where the Golden Ball Princess had dropped her golden ball.

Prince Toad had actually returned here, and it really looked like he was heading for that well.

The well’s mouth was too small for a person to enter, and it seemed very deep, which is why the Golden Ball Princess initially couldn’t ask a servant to retrieve the ball for her, giving Prince Toad an opportunity.

Now Mu Ying was interested in the well too, but she couldn’t go down either, and naturally, she couldn’t let Prince Toad escape, or else who knows how long it would take for him to come out!

She decisively controlled the wild grass around to cover the well’s mouth.

Seeing the securely covered well mouth, the toad instinctively tried to run, but it was no match for the magically adept Mu Ying, who directly captured it on a Magic Flying Carpet.

She even controlled the Magic Flying Carpet to fly higher, making escape impossible.

“Who are you, what do you want?” Prince Toad shrank into a corner of the Flying Carpet, looking terrified at this sudden appearance and spoke.

“You yourself said a witch cursed you into becoming a toad, and only the Golden Ball Princess could save you, who do you think I am?” Mu Ying, with a stern face, intimidated him.

“You, you, you’re a witch?

Aren’t witches supposed to be old and ugly?” Prince Toad had never seen a real witch; he had only heard stories about witches from others.

“You’re the one who’s old and ugly, letting us take the blame for your misdeeds was bad enough, but to ruin our image too!

Lying comes at a price, and I’m not known for my good temper!”

Mu Ying flicked the tip of her staff, using Magic Power to tug at the limbs of Prince Toad, pulling him closer, and lightly touched his neck as if it was nothing, “What do you think I should do to punish your lies?”

Prince Toad was terrified, his body completely immobilized, unable to move at all: “I was wrong, everything I said before was nonsense, just don’t kill me, I’ll do whatever you want!”

Mu Ying had been waiting for him to say exactly this, “So tell me, what exactly are you?

And why did you deceive the Golden Ball Princess?

You don’t seem to be under any curse!”

“I...” Prince Toad hesitated greatly, as this concerned his biggest secret, and he had no idea what would happen once he divulged it.

“I know there is something fishy about that well, if you don’t tell me, I might just go and see for myself.

Right now, I’m just a bit curious, but if you hesitate any longer, I can’t guarantee what I’ll do,” Mu Ying adopted the posture of an Evil Witch perfectly, her eyes full of threat, “Oh, and by the way, I forgot to remind you, I really hate lies, if you dare to lie...”

Prince Toad looked at the short wooden stick in her hand as if it were a sharp sword about to pierce through him, fearing that if he didn’t speak now, his life would be at risk.

“I’ll speak, I’ll speak!”

Prince Toad began his story, trembling all over.

He was a toad, but also a prince.

He owned a territory, and the water pond at the bottom of the well was all his territory, and all his subjects were toads as well.

Not ordinary toads, but a special kind of toad that could speak human language and were exceptionally smart.

Among all the toads, only Prince Toad could not only speak human language but also transform between a human and a toad once each day.

Thus, he became the leader of all the talking toads.

Because the Golden Ball Princess often played in the back garden, Prince Toad frequently heard her voice from the bottom of the well and gradually fell in love with her.

Since the Golden Ball Princess liked her servants to read her stories before bed, the enamored Prince Toad also heard many of them.

Those bedtime stories were all about the cliché love stories where princes and princesses were meant to be, often featuring an Evil Witch hindering them, and the prince heroically rescuing the beauty.

But deep down, the Golden Ball Princess was an ambitious and strong-willed woman.

One time after hearing such a story, she commented on how these storytellers lacked originality, always making the prince save the princess, questioning why it couldn’t be the princess saving the prince instead.

So the naive Prince Toad took her words to heart, bestowed upon himself the title of prince, declared the water pond at the well’s bottom his kingdom, and named it the Zedi Kingdom.

He then followed the sequence of those bedtime stories, collaborating with his toad ministers, planning a drama where the princess would save the prince, hoping to win the beauty’s heart.

The Golden Ball falling into the well was no accident at all.

Unexpectedly, he faced a major setback in his life.

When he was a toad, the princess was willing to fulfill his requests to eat and live together in return for retrieving the Golden Ball, but as soon as he transformed gloriously, proclaimed himself as a prince, expressed his gratitude for being saved by her, and then attempted to marry her, the princess sent him away with a box full of treasures.

Initially coerced into revealing all these matters, Prince Toad couldn’t help feeling heartbroken towards the end, “Didn’t she say she preferred the princess saving the prince?

Why did it end up like this after I transformed into a prince and expressed my gratitude?”

Mu Ying: “...”

Mu Ying really wanted to say, isn’t it quite normal for you to face a setback when chasing a girl based on bedtime stories?

Any normal girl, seeing her pet suddenly turn into a big man, after having shared meals and beds before, would inevitably feel utterly agitated!

Isn’t that just rascally behavior?

Moreover, the princess only said she liked the concept of a princess saving a prince, not that she would fall in love with the prince she saved, especially one who was a dubious, unknown prince.

The Golden Ball Princess clearly wasn’t obsessed with romance.

Although Prince Toad could speak human language, he was still so naive!
