I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 300 - 300 296 The Truth300: Chapter 296: The Truth 300: Chapter 296: The Truth The members of Luoxia Team were confused; the trip up to Snow Mountain had gone unexpectedly smoothly.

Although there were no conflicts, they hadn’t solved any problems either.

If the Snow Mountain Guardian God truly had a trick up his sleeve, at least there would have been a solution, but the being appeared friendly, and the prophecy had been obtained through a Divination Technique.

They talked about how the blizzard was the will of Snow Mountain, how Snow Mountain wanted to expand, but they didn’t really believe it.

Did Snow Mountain have a will?

But the Divination Technique was solid, every day people from the Snow Mountain Camp would go out to hunt Snow Beasts, and their divinations always pinpointed the best locations.

Seeing those people of modest ability managing to each obtain a set of Snow Beast fur clothes showed just how accurate the divination was.

Perhaps this heavy snow was just a change in the weather, and with magic around, this world had long stopped being scientific; perhaps this kind of weather was normal?

After walking in silence for a long time, Lin Zhixiu couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Luoxia, are we really going to give up the territory?”

Mu Ying was still following them in the sky, but at this moment, she remained silent.

Because several Cold Deer were tracking them from behind.

“If this snow keeps falling like this, it won’t be a week before Luoxia Town is buried.

Even adding a snow-avoidance feature to the Territory Shield won’t be of much use.

The territory produces no resources; others can’t survive here.

Without people, the territory can no longer be maintained.”

Li Luoxia said helplessly, feeling puzzled inside.

Logically, now that they were far from the Snow Mountain Camp, Mu Ying should have contacted them, but the Dingling Flower had not responded.

They had agreed that if Mu Ying didn’t make a sound on her side, she shouldn’t speak proactively on hers because Mu Ying, in the sky, had a better view and could see further; Mu Ying would contact her when the time was right.

Was the timing not right now?

Li Luoxia frowned slightly, seized the general dejection as an excuse to discreetly remind everyone, “Don’t be like this, lift your spirits, stay alert.

Even if we lose the territory, as long as we stick together, we won’t have a hard time!”

The others then perked up a bit.

Most of Mu Ying’s attention was on the Cold Deer that were tracking them.

They were some of the stronger ones in the herd.

Initially, she thought the Cold Deer were tracking Li Luoxia and her group; unexpectedly, they bypassed them, avoiding the route they were taking.

But this direction was likely also towards the valley near the base of the mountain.

After thinking it over, Mu Ying followed them.

When the Cold Deer reached the junction of Luoxia Mountain and the valley, they split up and climbed up the high cliffs on either side of the valley.

Once atop the high cliffs, Mu Ying watched as they spread out, their antlers emitting an icy blue light.

The glow from all of the Cold Deer antlers gathered together, forming a thick cloud of snow.

Below in the valley, the already lightly falling snowflakes visibly grew bigger once again.

It really was their doing; after the Spell Casting was performed, a darker aura intensified around them, naturally deepening her dislike for them.

Mu Ying counted them, there were ten Cold Deer involved in this casting.

This Magic-like Spell could be cast only once a week, and its duration was unknown.

And only Cold Deer of level 9 or higher could perform the Ice and Snow Spell.

Within the herd, there were 21 Cold Deer of level 9 or above, so each casting needed to last three to four days to cover their shifts.

This was a large-scale Spell; the Cold Deer took a full half hour to complete the casting.

They then left in groups.

Only then did Mu Ying go back to look for Li Luoxia and the others.

When she got nearby, she said to the Dingling Flower, “The heavy snow is the work of the Cold Deer.”

Li Luoxia finally heard Mu Ying speak, “Cold Deer?

Is it the Snow Mountain Guardian God?”

“Yes, I just saw them casting spells on the cliff top of the canyon, which made the snow even heavier,” Mu Ying said.

Upon hearing this, Li Luoxia actually breathed a sigh of relief, “As long as it’s not a real natural disaster, that’s good!”

Mu Ying shared with them the level and various ability information of the Cold Deer she had detected with her spell.

“So, is this Cold Deer trying to expand its power?

Does it want to use the heavy snow to drive the people out of the territory?” The members of Luoxia Team were furious.

“No wonder they were complaining about lacking people to manage the camp, how can they be so ambitious?

Shouldn’t deer be pure and kind?” Lin Zhixiu said.

“Don’t think of them as naive animals anymore, they know many languages, and their intelligence is not inferior to humans.

It’s normal for them to have desires.”

“The problem now is, they are quite strong, almost thirty of them, and twenty-one are level nine and above, including a level eleven leader.

Moreover, their skills are abundant, they excel in both ranged and close combat, not only is their physical fitness strong, they also possess magic-like abilities; we are not their opponents for the time being,” Mu Ying stated.

Even though they knew the instigator was the Cold Deer, they were powerless to stop it, and even if they told others, those players might not believe them because from their perspective, the Cold Deer was their benefactor, and that was the real issue.

“It’s okay, knowing their intent is enough.

If worst comes to worst, we’ll just shrink the territory and seal it temporarily.

One day, we’ll come back and stop them.”

Li Luoxia was quite open-minded about it.

If the Cold Deer wanted to drive people away, then let it be.

They might as well proactively shrink the territory and seal it within the snow layer, sustaining the state of the territory with the minimal expenditure.

By establishing themselves as protective gods, the Cold Deer also restricted their own actions.

A direct attack on the territory could break their image, which might raise doubts among players.

Just because they couldn’t defeat the Cold Deer now didn’t mean they couldn’t in the future.

And once the people from the territory were gone, would the Cold Deer still diligently keep casting snow spells?

Without their interference, the canyon would gradually return to normal.

This was much better than previously not knowing the reason and being without hope.

“In a while, we might really have to develop in Qingshan Town, please provide more guidance, Lord!” Li Luoxia said with a hint of laughter.

Listening to her tone, Mu Ying felt reassured that she had come to terms with the situation, “You’re welcome to contribute more taxes!”

So, did this mean she was benefiting from others’ disputes?

After their conversation, Mu Ying first flew to Luoxia Town, then took a detour to take the Transmission Array back to Qingshan Town.

The world now was no longer one where humans held an absolute advantage, able to encroach upon other creatures’ living spaces; previously, humans’ only advantage had been their high intelligence.

But now, among the various creatures that had migrated from beyond this world, many races’ intelligence was comparable to humans’, and their strength and Talent start points were even higher; humans no longer had their former advantage.

Now even Magic Beasts possessed such strength and ambition; without effort, they were just waiting to be bullied.

Before the apocalypse, one could survive by slacking, but after the apocalypse, even surviving was difficult if you slacked.

Previously, Mu Ying thought having a territory was her backup; with a Territory Shield, as long as there was enough money and energy to support the operation of the Territory Shield, then even the strongest enemy could be held off.

But a very real example now showed her that even a territory with an owner wasn’t safe.

While the situation in Qingshan Town was slightly better now, dangers lurked all around; she needed to strive to become stronger.
