I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 269 - 269 265 Tomb269: Chapter 265: Tomb 269: Chapter 265: Tomb Although this fork in the road was a dead end, it actually had several turns and was quite deep.

Mu Ying still had Gungun shrink in size and took it with her to check for any remaining traps.

Then they continued to use the Wall Peeping Mirror to look.

Sometimes surprises come that quickly.

When they reached the end of the fork, Gungun placed the Wall Peeping Mirror against the wall and discovered a hidden chamber.

Although everything inside seemed empty and there were places out of sight, the space inside was quite large.

However, the wall in front of them was very thick and sealed, not seeming like it had any mechanisms.

Mu Ying used the old method of the Stone Shaping Technique to make a small hole in the wall just big enough for her to crawl through.

She first reached through to place a square stone fortress she had made, with the top, bottom, and three sides enclosed, and only one side open for entering and exiting.

This opening fit snugly against the stone wall.

Then she crawled through to enter into the protection of the stone fortress.

She observed her surroundings through the observation holes that she had left and for the time being, didn’t trigger any traps.

Outside the stone wall was another long corridor with depths on both sides that could not be seen.

After confirming that there were no immediate issues, she turned around and used the Stone Shaping Technique to seal the stone wall back to its original state.

Then she withdrew the stone fortress, took out a very thick stone roller as tall as a person, and placed it onto the ground.

“Gungun, your turn!”

Gungun quickly reverted back to its normal size, blew on its two claws, and forcefully pushed the roller forward.

Mu Ying quickly took out another completely enclosed fortress and crouched inside with Gungun.

“Clatter~clatter~”

After the big roller passed, there were no unusual sounds.

Repeat this process several times, Mu Ying confirmed that there were no traps on the floor or the walls up to a man’s height along this section of the corridor.

Only then did she begin to carefully probe this stretch of corridor.

This corridor wasn’t quite the same as the ones they had seen outside; it was broader and had a door frame every certain distance along the walls on the left and right sides, though the place where the door should have been was sealed by stone walls.

Next to each Stone Gate, there was a stone brick different from the others, with some Guland script on it.

Mu Ying translated the stone slab next to the door frame where they had emerged.

“Guland Underground City No.

112 civilian Tomb,

Time: Dawn Era 2230-2240”

“Could it be that the large tomb with over a hundred chambers we saw before was actually just one of the many tombs?”

She looked along the corridor, which extended into the depths on both sides, uncertain of the actual location of this No.

112 civilian Tomb.

She then looked at the script on the stone brick next to the door frame opposite the tomb.

“Guland Underground City No.

113 civilian Tomb,

Time: Dawn Era 2241-2252”

Seeing so many door frames, Mu Ying for the first time began to feel the former glory of the Guland Underground City.

These were all the former inhabitants of the Guland Underground City!

Even if they weren’t from the same epoch, by looking at the number of civilian deaths within each decade, one could gauge how many people lived in Guland.

At the same time, Mu Ying also felt a deep helplessness, with so many tombs to explore, wouldn’t she be worn out by exploring them one by one?

She hadn’t even finished exploring Tomb No.

112 yet!

Such an Underground City, with so much space dedicated to burial, how large would the areas for adventure businesses be?

And how vast the residential areas?

Mu Ying felt the world had become dark.

“Do I really have to search inch by inch?”

It seemed somewhat unrealistic.

Where could the Core Chamber be hidden?

At this moment, if not use Blessing Magic, then when?

She first blessed herself very seriously, wishing she could find a trace of the Core Chamber as soon as possible.

Then she began to ponder, if she were the Underground City Lord, where would she place the Core Chamber?

All these tombs were civilian ones; since there were civilians, wouldn’t there also be nobles?

She flipped through the Grand Dictionary of the Guland Language and discovered that, indeed, there were terms related to class hierarchy in Gulandese, such as civilian, nobles, Royal Family.

The protection inside the civilian tombs was not very sophisticated, all just fairly low-level traps, and there weren’t any grave goods either.

Looking at this, Guland’s civilians mustn’t have been very wealthy, and perhaps they weren’t as regarded as the other classes.

If there were civilian tombs, mightn’t there also be Noble Tombs and Royal Tombs?

The defenses of these two places should be stronger than those of the civilian tombs, right?

Then, if the important Core Chamber were to be concealed, wouldn’t it make more sense to hide it within a tomb with stronger defenses?

Of course, it wasn’t necessarily hidden in a tomb; the Underground City can’t possibly be all graves.

There could also be residential areas, adventure zones, and the like.

But if it were in the burial area, the most likely place would be within the most heavily defended Royal Tomb.

Of course, these were just her speculations, which still needed to be confirmed.

She walked the entire corridor once, counting a total of two hundred and twenty tombs.

The door to the last tomb, number 220, wasn’t sealed shut, inside was a passageway and small tomb similar to number 112, but without any traps set; only half of the tomb’s door was sealed, the rest were vacant.

Even on the stone brick by the tomb door, there was only a start date without an end date.

“Guland Underground City tomb number 220:

Date: Dawn Era 3339—”

Meaning, within at most a decade or so after this, the Guland Underground City had vanished.

Mu Ying also looked at a few civilian tombs near number 220 with death dates closely aligned; the interval between each was around ten years or so.

This indicated that the deaths of these tomb owners were quite ordinary, with timespans not much different from those before.

And the last one, tomb 220, was mostly vacant.

This suggested that when the Guland Underground City disappeared, either there hadn’t been mass civilian casualties, or death had come in an instant, not even leaving time for burial.

The former scenario was unlikely; if civilians hadn’t suffered mass casualties, the sudden disappearance of Guland Underground City wouldn’t be an unsolved mystery.

If Guland Underground City had suddenly shifted to another closed-off location, there might have been a chance for civilians to survive, but clearly, Guland Underground City had perished, the Core of the Underground shattered and its walls could be dug into by ghouls—indicating an extremely low probability of civilian survival.

Therefore, the latter possibility was more plausible.

Under what circumstances could this have happened?

Mu Ying sighed and decided to continue exploring.

Next to tomb number 1, there was a deep well, with the space directly above it also empty.

Beside it was written, “Embarkation spot for Tan Sen’s Floating Disc,” but the alleged Floating Disc was nowhere to be seen, leaving only a dark, hollow well.

Clearly, this well could go both up and down; considering the name Floating Disc, it probably functioned like an elevator.
