I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 276 - 276 272 Curse and Prophesy276: Chapter 272: Curse and Prophesy 276: Chapter 272: Curse and Prophesy Mu Ying felt that the matter of the Thorny Kingdom must also be one of the missions, and Doris’s narration had advanced the quest.

However, the green witch who could both curse and bless as mentioned by Doris, why did she seem familiar?

“Mu Ying, this green witch’s Talent is similar to yours!” Senior Sister Margreta said.

It’s not strange to find a green witch, but it is rare to find one who can both curse and bless.

Thinking back to these time points, wasn’t it 18 years ago, exactly when Mu Ying, this test character, was born?

And it coincides closely with the time her mother disappeared five years ago.

Now, recalling the memories of spending time with her mother, she realized that before her mother left, she had stored a large amount of provisions in the basement and even used magic to prevent the food from spoiling.

If it was just for a short trip, it seemed unnecessary to prepare so much.

It was these very provisions that had allowed her to survive alone in the forest after her mother’s disappearance.

“Doris, do you know that witch?” Mu Ying asked, by now having some suspicions in her heart.

“I have never met her; all this was told to me by Tanatos.

She was a young witch named Catherine, who before reaching a hundred years old, was able to place a curse upon an entire kingdom.

Although the curse eventually spiraled out of control, and she had to sacrifice all her Life Force to contain its spread, her ability was beyond doubt.

Tanatos once foretold all this, stating that the key to lifting the curse lay in Prince Ferena.

Therefore, she facilitated the betrothal of Prince Ferena and the Thorn Princess.

Later, when Catherine regretted her curse and could no longer control it, Tanatos revealed the solution to her, that she personally bless the Thorny Kingdom, promising it would one day revive.

The thorny forest would cease to spread, and someday in the future, Prince Ferena would enter the Thorny Forest with her daughter’s help to break the curse—though she might have to pay with her life for this.

Catherine was aware of the consequences but proceeded nonetheless.

All this was entrusted to me by Tanatos to convey to the first young witch I encountered who was destined for the Thorny Kingdom.

Catherine left a message, ‘Be cautious with your curse ability, I’m sorry.’

Doris looked at Mu Ying as she spoke, for she never expected that Tanatos’s foretold witch was Mu Ying herself.

Catherine was none other than the mother of the body Mu Ying now inhabited, and Tanatos was the Fairy Godmother of Queen Cinderella.

When Mu Ying took over this body, she also merged with its memories and emotions.

She felt affection for Catherine, but these feelings and memories existed without influencing Mu Ying’s own will.

When she heard the apology, tears welled up in her eyes from the emotions of the body, yet her own heart felt more the weight and regret.

It wasn’t from the perspective of a daughter, but as an observer, that she felt sorry for her.

A witch with extraordinary Talent, not even a hundred years old, had lost her life because of an impulsive curse born out of anger.

Since her curse Talent became apparent, Principal Melanie had warned her, and she had also researched related material in the library, becoming very cautious with her use of Curse Magic thereafter.

It turned out that the consequence of a curse that exceeded one’s own ability was so severe, it was out of the caster’s control, irrevocable, and would ultimately backlash upon the caster themselves.

Mu Ying wiped away her tears, “Do you know why she cast the curse?”

Doris shook her head, “I’m not sure, but Tanatos’s prophesies are usually precise.

After the curse is lifted, you should find your answer.”

Mu Ying sighed, having no other choice.

Seeing the atmosphere grow somewhat heavy, Mu Ying said helplessly, “Actually, I’m fine.

This was Catherine’s own choice, but I’ll still go and find out exactly what happened.”

“Prince Ferena has come of age.

I accidentally overheard a maid recently saying he plans to go to Thorny Kingdom to meet his unseen fiancée, and he’s been packing for the trip lately.

I was wondering why such a dangerous endeavor hasn’t been stopped by anyone from the Royal Family, so it was because you will be accompanying him?” Su Na stroked her chin and said, “As expected of the Prophetic Witch Tanatos.”

Mu Ying shook her head, “I’m preparing to set off tomorrow, and I want to see if everything is truly as she predicted.”

The plump innkeeper I met in Flower Town must have been Tanatos in disguise.

She must have already known it was her own appearance then.

It’s really unbearable, this feeling of being completely seen through by others.

Even before I act, my actions have already been foreseen by others.

Is Prediction Magic really that powerful?

“Everyone has tried to challenge Prediction Magic, but it’s not that prophecies control people’s actions; rather, it’s the future actions of people that prophets see.”

Prediction Magic is absolutely true.

Even if you know the content of the prophecy, you can’t avoid it.

Because only the parts that the prophecy indicates can be revealed are allowed to be disclosed to the concerned party—it is also a part of the prophecy.

All other parts are unspeakable.”

“Actually, Tanatos has it pretty tough, too.

She has to pay a price for actively making prophecies, and she can’t change the outcome of passive ones.

That’s why she has sequestered herself and avoids meeting outsiders, to prevent accidentally receiving revelations about the future,” Doris said.

Mu Ying nodded.

She understood the rationale, but when it came to herself, she still wanted to give it a try.

She decided to let things take their course and follow her original plan to head to Thorny Kingdom.

Let’s see how Prince Ferena can join her journey.

Meanwhile, the Royal Family probably doesn’t even know she’s planning to leave.

The things Doris talked about had already advanced the progress of collecting her third fragment by a large margin.

Supposedly, all she needed to do was to lift the curse and clear up the events of the past.

Though she still had no idea how to remove the curse.

But everyone who has read the story of Sleeping Beauty knows that the crux likely lies with Sleeping Beauty herself, and that it requires the prince’s kiss to awaken her.

This prince should be Ferena.

The Emerald World seems to be composed of many fairytale stories put together, but it is not entirely a fairytale world.

There are major discrepancies from the fairytale stories in her memory, but overall, the similarities are still striking.

Now it seems Prince Ferena’s determination to seek his fiancée through the perilous thorny forest, regardless of the danger of no return, conforms quite well with the story of Sleeping Beauty.

The night deepened, and the banquet ended.

Witches live long lives.

In several hundred years, they experience countless partings, so everyone is rather accustomed to it.

Remembering the happiness of the moment is what matters.

After seeing off the witches, Mu Ying cast a spell to clean up the courtyard and returned to the hut.

The Magic Hut can shrink down for easy transport, and the items stored inside it can be shrunk as well, so there was no need for her to pack.

All she needed was a good night’s sleep, and she could set off directly tomorrow.
