257: Chapter 254: Showing Off?

“Lord!

This is...” After dealing with the Ghoul, Old Mao and the others came in, laden with big and small bags.

The tomb was pitch-black, and he pulled out a Lamp Vine for illumination before he could roughly make out the surroundings, then he noticed Mu Ying standing in front of a Stone Gate, seemingly doing something.

Before he could ask, there was a rumbling sound from the Stone Gate as it slowly opened a crack.

Magic Dispel was indeed effective!

Beyond the gate was a corridor filled with cobwebs, stretching into the dark depths.

Mu Ying’s vision wasn’t affected by the darkness, and she could see two more doors along the corridor, a small Wooden Door and another large Stone Gate similar to the one in front of her.

Thinking of the small pile of Gold Coins she had picked up from the coffin earlier, she decided to go inside and take a look.

After all, the gate was right here; if there was any problem, she could just run away.

She also carefully picked up a stone and threw it in to see if there were any traps or mechanisms.

No issues arose.

She then walked in.

At first, indeed, nothing happened, but when she stepped on, say, the third floor tile, she suddenly heard a “click” from within the corridor walls, as if something had snapped inside.

Inwardly cursing that this was bad, she immediately turned to retreat.

But at that moment, a long stone slab from the top of the corridor outside the Tomb Door came crashing down.

Only then did she realize that this was not just an ordinary stone slab but a dragon-breaking stone, and one had blocked her escape route.

The seamless stone wall showed no sign that there was another Tomb Door behind it.

The stone had fallen right at her heel, and she instinctively took a step forward, while Old Mao and the others preparing to follow were also blocked on the other side.

“Lord!” Mu Ying could still hear the shouts of Old Mao and the others from behind the stone.

But at this time, she had no time to respond, as more stone slabs from above continued to fall, and the next one was right above her head.

Mu Ying had no choice but to run for her life; one step slower, and she feared she would be crushed into a pancake by the stone wall, even her protective spells would not withstand such a blow.

However, she couldn’t outrun the free-falling stone wall.

Now that there were no outsiders around, she quickly took out her flying broom, mounted it, and flew forward, hugging close to the broom as she zipped ahead.

Once she mounted the broom and darted a distance away, the stone slabs from above actually stopped falling.

Mu Ying paused mid-air and looked back at the quiet corridor, realizing then that the trigger for the mechanism was on the ground.

The stone she threw earlier didn’t trigger anything, possibly due to not being heavy enough.

“I’ve drifted!” Mu Ying said eerily, looking at the corridor behind her blocked by a pile of stone walls.

All for those dozen or so Gold Coins and the potential Elemental Gemstones, she had recklessly plunged in, and now she had no way back.

But as long as she didn’t step on the ground, she wouldn’t trigger the mechanism, so she wasn’t in immediate danger.

Even though her storage ring was stocked with plenty of food and all sorts of supplies for survival, she wasn’t worried about living off those, but she didn’t want to continue exploring ahead either.

Those few dragon-breaking stones had suddenly sparked many conjectures in her mind.

She had read plenty of tomb raiding novels.

For now, it seemed like this was an underground Tomb, and the previous chamber with the Ghoul didn’t seem like the main entrance to the Tomb but rather a robber’s tunnel.

The dead generally do not wish to be disturbed.

If there was one falling stone mechanism, there would surely be more.

The current corridor ended about ten meters ahead, but there were two branch paths, one to the left and one to the right.

Who knew how large this tomb was?

What if she got lost while wandering around?

What if the traps behind were more cunning?

What if there were other particularly powerful monsters?

In short, call her timid or say she was worrying over nothing, continuing forward now could result in a better outcome than the current one, or it could be worse.

But if she didn’t go forward now, the situation wouldn’t get any worse.

The way back right now was just behind her, blocked only by some dragon-breaking stones.

Wasn’t dealing with these stones a more certain option than looking for some unknown exit?

If there truly was no way to remove the stone, then it wouldn’t be too late to look for another exit.

Since it was not possible to stay on the ground, she took out the Magic Flying Carpet and decided to stay in the air for the time being.

The mechanism of this corridor was clearly one-time use.

Not having been triggered before meant there likely wouldn’t be any monsters coming through it.

Even if there were, the Magic Flying Carpet had a shielding function that could prevent monsters from detecting her.

After switching to the Flying Carpet, Mu Ying sat cross-legged on it and inspected this section of the corridor; the ground, both sides, and even the stone bricks above didn’t show anything special.

She also took a look at the small wooden door and the Stone Gate she had seen earlier.

Both were sealed by magic.

Mu Ying didn’t tamper with them for the time being, deciding first to consider other methods.

She took out the Space Travel Box and placed it on the Magic Flying Carpet, then entered it.

Then, as she opened up the Magic List, she remembered that among the 4th-level spells she had recently unlocked at level 7, there was one called the Stone Shaping Technique, similar in effect to the Shaping Wood Skill, which could be used to mold stones.

She wanted to see if she could use it to alter the shape of the dragon-breaking stones to carve out a passage.

After careful inspection, she confirmed that it should be feasible.

With her current level, after learning the Stone Shaping Technique, she could only sculpt 17 cubic feet of stone at a time, whether it be a Stone Gate or an exit, or even make a stone chest.

Although the dragon-breaking stones blocking the entire corridor were far more than 17 cubic feet, she could cast the spell frequently in small areas.

She even didn’t need a spacious doorway; it would be enough just to squeeze through.

Futhermore, having learnt this spell, she would no longer have to worry about being blocked when exploring this tomb in the future.

If the way was blocked, she could simply dig through it.

In ancient times, there was the Foolish Old Man who moved mountains, and now there was her, Mu Ying, using the Stone Shaping Technique to dig through dragon-breaking stones.

However, all this was predicated on her learning the Stone Shaping Technique first.

With the backup of food in a storage ring and the comfort of living in the Space Travel Box, she had full confidence in learning this spell.

At this moment, she couldn’t help but feel fortunate that ever since she had gotten this storage ring with its vast space, she liked to throw whatever she liked into it – it was almost like a personal mini-warehouse, which was now proving to be very useful.

Also, if she was going to stay here for a long duration, it would be a waste to keep the Magic Flying Carpet hovering in the air the whole time.

It ran on Magic Power, which after an infusion could sustain for a while, but at the moment in unfamiliar territory, and with her needing to practice the Stone Shaping Technique later, her Mana Value might not last, and she would have to rely on Magic Power for defense.

Although her Magic Power was quite abundant, saving a bit where she could was sensible.

In fact, she just needed a place to put the Space Travel Box; the Flying Carpet could be used only when she came out.

Therefore, she took out her Green Wood Longbow and continuously shot Gold Stone Element Arrows at the dragon-breaking stone, creating two holes, into which she inserted two sturdy Wooden Sticks to support the Space Travel Box above.
