I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 277 - 277 273 Thorny Forest277: Chapter 273 Thorny Forest 277: Chapter 273 Thorny Forest The next morning, Fairy Mu Ying packed up the Magic Hut and set out in the Magic Carriage.

Leaving Canteryala, the closer she got to the direction of the Thorny Kingdom, the fewer people she saw.

On the road, she often encountered abandoned farmhouses and overgrown fields that had turned into wilderness.

In fact, the climate here was suitable and the land was fertile, very suitable for living, but due to the fear of the Thorny Forest, people had gradually left this place.

The once prosperous and wealthy Thorny Kingdom had turned into a piece of Thorny Forest that makes one’s expression change at its mention.

The carriage stopped at the edge of the Thorny Forest, and Mu Ying got down and looked at the dense forest.

If she hadn’t known in advance that this forest was unusual, she might not have noticed anything abnormal.

Because this forest looked only a lot denser than ordinary forests, with trees lush with branches, all being thorny trees, with spiky branches almost filling up all the spaces, leaving hardly any space for walking.

Upon closer inspection, there were no small animals in the forest.

Mu Ying picked up a stone from the roadside and threw it into the forest, but the trees didn’t move as she had expected, as if they couldn’t move at all.

Then she used Flame Magic and conjured up a cluster of flames, flicking it into the Thorny Forest.

Magic flames had a much stronger burning capacity than ordinary flames, and could even ignite wet wood.

But at this moment, the flames did not ignite the thorny trees at all and extinguished without any momentum.

She took out a torch, doused it with oil, and tried to burn it, but it still didn’t work.

It seemed that these mutant thorns were really difficult to deal with.

She used Plant Magic and attempted to control these thorny trees, and unexpectedly, it worked easily, as if they were just ordinary plants.

Mu Ying controlled the thorns to move aside, clearing a path, and she walked in.

The thorn trees were indeed alive, but they didn’t seem as aggressive as Doris and the others had said.

As she passed by, they carefully curled up their spikes, and this was not under her control.

Mu Ying tentatively withdrew her magical control, and indeed, the thorns showed no intention of attacking her, creating a path on their own.

One by one, they curled their spikes into small rolls, shaking their bodies and greeting her.

What was the principle behind this?

“Clip-clop!

Clip-clop!”

The sound of horse hooves came, and a young man in blue armor arrived at the edge of the Thorny Forest, noticing the path that had appeared in the forest.

“Fairy Mu Ying!” Seeing the girl at the end of the path, he called out and, holding his sword, urged his horse and charged in.

“Hey!” Mu Ying hadn’t had the chance to speak to stop him.

If this wasn’t Prince Ferena, then who was it?

Where was his brain?

This was the Thorny Forest, after all.

Seeing the nearby dilapidated house ruins should have made him cautious, right?

To venture into the renowned Thorny Forest without any preparations?

Just charging in rashly like this.

Even Mu Ying, a witch who had just arrived, knew to stand back and test things out first!

Mu Ying did not think the Thorny Forest was really that mild.

It was highly likely because she was the green witch, Thorny Forest sprung from the curse of the green witch, cast by her own mother.

Generally, the Talent and Magic Power traits between a witch and her daughter are quite similar.

Indeed, as soon as Prince Ferena rushed in, the thorns turned hostile.

A moment ago, they were cute little things curled up with spikes, but now they had turned into little maniacs with their spikes tensed, lunging at Prince Ferena and his beloved horse.

Fortunately, Prince Ferena’s swordsmanship was not just for show, and he managed to protect himself barely, but his horse suffered, riddled with vulnerabilities and surrounded by thorns in an instant.

It was exceptionally difficult for Fairy Mu Ying to control and soothe the thorns using Plant Magic, the tugging sensation was very clear, and she could even faintly sense their anger.

This state was strange; in reality, since Druids have the ability of Perception to the natural power, they can make some judgment about their emotions through the state of the natural power in plants but can’t directly feel it because even mutant plants don’t have any subjective will.

Even when using Plant Communication, what she got back was just emotionless information.

The green witch influenced plants using the Magic Power in her own bloodline, which has such properties that her Affinity and compatibility with plants were very high, allowing her to easily control plants with Plant Magic or even guide the plants’ directed mutation.

In summary, the green witch’s Magic Power was a type of energy entirely different from, yet very similar to, the natural power.

However, the green witch was unable to sense the emotions of plants, because plants simply didn’t have emotions unless these thorns were sentient.

Fairy Mu Ying felt like she was breaking up a fight, the thorns wanted to stab Prince Ferena and his horse to death as if they had seen their archenemy, and she was holding them back.

Before she sensed the anger of the thorns, she had no problem breaking up the fight.

But now, under her strenuous opposition, few thorns could reach Prince Ferena, yet his sword danced wildly, chopping many thorn strands.

He himself was not much hurt, only his horse had sustained quite bad injuries.

And he seemed to get more vigorous with his chopping, wanting to rush further in.

This did not sit well with Fairy Mu Ying; she was holding them back not to let him die just like that, not to give him a chance to chop the thorns, especially since these thorns might be sentient and benevolent toward her.

And the more he chopped, the angrier the thorns became, Fairy Mu Ying was barely holding them back!

“Stop chopping, I’m controlling them, run out first!” Fairy Mu Ying yelled.

Prince Ferena paused, his swinging sword stopped.

He then realized that although the thorns were still menacing, they hadn’t truly touched him, as if an invisible giant hand was pulling them back.

What else was there to not understand?

It turned out it wasn’t his swordsmanship that was slashing through the enemies, but someone was helping him by weakening his opponent’s strength.

Prince Ferena sighed in relief and carefully led his horse out of the Thorny Forest.

Fairy Mu Ying was drenched in sweat from this tug-of-war, and only after he had left the forest did she finally dissipate her Magic Power.

The thorns were still somewhat agitated, but those near Fairy Mu Ying still curled their spikes, maintaining a benevolent stance; the discrimination was quite clear.

Fairy Mu Ying truly hadn’t expected to meet Prince Ferena in such a manner, the timing just so coincidental.

And it forced her to intervene.

Though she had known about Tanatos’s prophesy beforehand, at this moment Fairy Mu Ying still pretended to be unaware and asked him, “Why are you here, Prince?”

“I am here for my fiancée, the Princess of Thorny Kingdom; I must rescue her,” said Prince Ferena.

He previously thought there was no challenge in the world he couldn’t conquer, just a mere thorny forest, but it turned out to be much harder than he anticipated; without Fairy Mu Ying, he might have ended up much more embarrassed.
