I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 62 - 62 61 Mushroom Man Spawn62: Chapter 61: Mushroom Man Spawn 62: Chapter 61: Mushroom Man Spawn Mu Ying followed Huo Shaobai and the others to a cave, where the stench of animal feces still lingered.

The entire cave resembled a small gourd; the base of the gourd was the den of the brown bear they’d encountered earlier, and the entrance to the instance was inside the head of the gourd, the middle passage requiring one to sidle through.

As Mu Ying crawled into the passage, she saw the light emanating from the instance entrance.

It was a fan-shaped light gate nearly two meters high.

The group made one last check of their belongings, weapons in hand, with the person at the front covered by Mu Ying’s tree skin skill, while she herself was in the middle of the team, protected by the others.

Passing through the light gate felt like moving through a layer of water film, cool and without any other discomfort.

But upon entering the instance, everyone couldn’t help but exclaim in admiration.

It’s so beautiful!

They were still inside a cave, only it was hundreds, if not thousands of times larger than the one outside the instance, but behind them was still the cave wall, with the instance light gate right at their backs.

Though dark, the cave wasn’t black, as the dense vegetation emitted multicolored fluorescence that illuminated this dreamy place.

Compared to the plants here, the asparagus flowers in the territory at night seemed hardly worth mentioning.

The instance door connected directly to a narrow path more than half a meter wide.

On either side of the path was grass ankle-high, each blade tipped with a glowing grain of rice in either blue or purplish-red, dazzling like gemstones.

Mu Ying couldn’t help but crouch down to probe the plants.

“Blue night light grass, herbaceous plant, only suitable for growth in dark environments, withers under sunlight, tips of leaves contain fluorescent material, dried and ground fluorescent powder makes excellent decorative material.”

What a pity, it couldn’t be transplanted outside.

“How is it?” the others asked curiously.

There were so many exotic plants here, bringing some back to fulfill Shom’s commission would be great, and Mu Ying had volunteered to probe because she had a spell that allowed her to simply detect plant information.

Druids indeed had such spells, although the one she learned came from Grandpa Shom and was an upgraded version.

“These probably wouldn’t count as mutant plants, they wouldn’t survive outside,” Mu Ying spoke as she tried to walk into the grass.

These grasses were harmless, but within the bushes were some brightly colored little mushrooms that looked quite unusual.

Just as she was stepping out, foot still in mid-air, the nearest clump of little mushrooms suddenly whisked upward and, with a puff, scampered off.

“...”

Mushrooms with legs?

Alarmed, Mu Ying hurriedly retracted her foot.

But it was of no use, most of the little mushrooms in the bushes had run off, leaving behind those that were probably normal mushrooms.

Although they didn’t make a sound, Mu Ying could still see their panic from their actions.

After all, bumping into each other in their frantic escape was one thing, but one accidentally running the wrong direction and bumping into her leg, flipping over twice was just ridiculous.

What kind of magical species is this!

Mu Ying remembered the Monster Atlas mentioning something similar to these mushroom men, called “Mushroom Men,” though they weren’t usually this small, with strengths ranging around levels 0-4.

Mu Ying wasn’t quite sure, as she also saw forces of nature circling around the little guy’s mushroom top, though not much, she’d only seen such natural power on plants before.

If it weren’t for the improvement in her nature sensing skill, allowing her to sense even the natural power in small plants, she might have overlooked it.

Since it was a plant, there shouldn’t be any problem using the Identify Plants, right?

She asked the others to calm down and began casting her spell.

“Mushroom Man juvenile, a peace-loving intelligent fungal plant, only lives in dark territories, dies under sunlight, can communicate meditatively within its species through telepathy ability, releases communication spores that allow brief mental interaction with other intelligent beings, skilled in cultivating fungal plants...”

It really was a plant!

But it was also an intelligent being.

Mu Ying felt the slight tremble of the little one’s mushroom cap; it turned out it was pretending to faint!

It seemed she had scared it just now.

After thinking for a moment, Mu Ying used the Water Creation Skill to gather a small water droplet the size of a quail egg and stealthily injected a drop of Recovery Spring into it.

Then she controlled the small water droplet to turn into fine rain that fell on the little one.

Sure enough, its mushroom cap couldn’t help but move again, and after a while, a couple of black bean-shaped eyes appeared on the chubby mushroom stalk, curiously looking at her.

It seemed to have finally confirmed that she had no ill intentions, the little one stopped pretending and swayed its body to make sure the entire cap made good contact with the rain.

However, the rain she had formed was very little and soon ran out.

The Little Mushroom Man stretched out a tender white hand, patted its own cap, and a green fluorescent spore fell off, drifting towards Mu Ying.

“Want more, swap swap!” a crisp childlike voice spoke.

Mu Ying realized this must be the Little Mushroom Man’s Telepathy Spore, she was about to ask what “swap swap” was and about the conditions of this instance when a barrage of “want want want, swap swap swap swap” followed.

Great, the little mushrooms who earlier seemed as formidable as a flood of beasts had returned without her noticing, each poking their heads out of the Night Light Grass.

Little bean-shaped eyes looked at her expectantly, yet dared not to come too close.

Taking into account how this little one had twisted its body to avoid being seen by Huo Shaobai and the others, she likely would have been surrounded by the Mushroom Man younglings if they weren’t still slightly afraid of them.

What a blissful burden indeed!

“Don’t disturb the guests!

Kind young lady, thank you for your generosity, please bring your companions and follow this path to our colony.

The little one in your hand will lead the way, as it should.

The other little mushrooms, come back immediately!”

The hoarse voice became increasingly stern as it spoke.

The Little Mushroom Men stiffened, then ran off at even greater speed than before; this time, because of the Telepathy Spore, Mu Ying could hear their panicked voices.

“It’s over, the elder is angry.”

“Wuu, our heads are going to hurt from the beating!”

“Ah, you bumped into me!”

...

“Cough, Mu Ying, what exactly is going on here?”

Lu You was full of questions, but earlier had been silenced by the captain.

Mu Ying touched her nose, “Well, we’re still fairly lucky, these mushrooms are a fungal species called Mushroom Men, they’re kindly and love peace.

I just helped this little Mushroom Man, so their elder has invited us to visit their colony.”

“Elder?

Where is it?” The ones she had just seen were all as small as the chubby mushroom in her hand; they must be younglings too.

“He communicated through that spore we saw just now.

They don’t speak any Language themselves, but can communicate through telepathy and that spore momentarily connected me with them,” Mu Ying explained.

“So you’re saying they’ve pulled you into their family group?” Lu You exclaimed.

Mu Ying nodded.

The description was spot-on, exactly.

“No danger?”

“No dragons?”

“No gnolls?”

They asked worriedly.

Mu Ying nodded again, “No, the minds cannot lie; as long as we don’t provoke them, this place is safe.”
