I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 146 - 146 145 Blocking the Door (200 Average Plus 2)146: Chapter 145 Blocking the Door (200 Average Plus 2) 146: Chapter 145 Blocking the Door (200 Average Plus 2) Uncle Guan swallowed hard, a glimmer of hope bursting forth from his sorrowful eyes, “Really, really?”

“Of course, uncle, who told you that performance rankings can’t compare to level rankings?

Spellcaster professions aren’t like physical professions where once someone levels up, they can just stand still, cast a few spells, and knock a warrior flat on their back without much battle experience, especially in group fights.

Don’t look at our young lord; her close combat with short and long swords is even better than that of some warriors, her arrow shots never miss, and her spellcasting is unrivaled.

Isn’t our Xia Country’s only player who has mastered Level 3 spells enough to take them on?”

Guan Hai was very confident.

Their lord’s low rank on the performance board was because she spent all her time in cultivation, not having much time to go around and challenge monsters.

No, it’s that she could turn monsters into pets, isn’t that more impressive than just killing a few?

Guan Hai glanced at the two Jumping Rabbits eating grass beside them and felt that was exactly the case.

“That’s great!” Uncle Guan shed tears of excitement.

“And there are still so many fellow villagers, they’re saved!”

“Old man, is the Liu Hu you mentioned somewhat short, a bit skinny, with a coin-sized birthmark on his neck?” Huo Shaobai inquired.

“Yes, yes, yes!

That’s him!”

“Mu Ying, they were part of a drug cartel we were investigating before the apocalypse, indeed all tough characters.

A few of them are very precise with guns, and their archery skills were already decent.

If they picked professions like Wanderer or Forest Patrol, their archery skills would only be stronger,” Huo Shaobai clenched his fist, not expecting it to be them.

Mu Ying nodded, “We won’t clash with them head-on.

They’ve dug traps at the entrance of the camp for an ambush.

By digging the traps so wide, they’ve restricted not only us but also themselves.

Since they love to guard so much, let’s go guard them.”

Several people were left to guard the ox cart, and the rest, including Uncle Guan, were taken with her.

Today, they hadn’t fought much yet, and their condition was good.

This time they traveled light and approached the outlying thatched cottages.

With time pressing and tasks looming, they split into teams to knock on doors.

If no one opened up, they directly took action with force.

The wooden planks of the cottages were requisitioned by her and turned into thick wooden shields using the Shaping Wood Skill, with small openings cut out in them.

Once the shields were ready, several of the stronger individuals in the group joined her in advancing towards the camp’s main gate behind the shields.

Looking at the silent arrow tower, there seemed to be no sign that they had been detected yet.

“It seems like they’re really hated.

It’s been a good while since we arrived, and no one has come to alert them.

It looks like there really aren’t any close escorts left outside.”

Mu Ying shook her head, finding these people to be too careless.

But no matter how careless they were, here they were, approaching with shields, impossible to remain undetected.

Nobody showed up on the arrow tower, but Mu Ying felt the gaze watching them.

“I heard that the lord of Qingshan Village is a particularly good-looking high school student; Brother Hu is in for a treat.”

“Still too green.

What use is it hiding behind a shield?

Our arrow tips are coated with kerosene!”

“Just hope they don’t get skewered by the traps on their first step; it wouldn’t be fun if they died right away!”

“What are you blabbering about?

Why are there only so few of them?

Weren’t they supposed to have fifty people accept the mission?” Brother Hu scolded.

“Probably they had suffered heavy losses on the way here.

A girl who hasn’t even grown out her hair, what use can her level do?

Once out in the wild, they get scared.

If they’re smart, they’ll just give up the lord’s position,” the man said disdainfully.

Brother Hu slapped him, annoyed by his arrogance, but also felt pleased being flattered, so in the end, he said nothing.

Those behind the parapet held their breath, hoping they would step right into the trap, but Mu Ying and her group stopped just at the edge of it.

Although the trap was long enough, it was not wide enough.

Standing on this side of the trap, the parapet and the area inside were all within her casting range.

It was a pity they didn’t have any mages skilled in the Fireball Technique in their territory, or else a single cast could topple a crudely constructed arrow tower.

Now, all Mu Ying could do was roll a Blazing Flame Fireball inside.

Fortunately, despite the Blazing Flame Fireball not having the explosive power of a Fireball Technique, it had a larger area of effect as it rolled around.

Rolling across the railing, it caught fire, and after rolling around near a few arrow towers, the base of the towers ignited and began to sway.

“Quick, they are starting a fire, shoot flaming arrows, hurry!”

“Boss, the fog’s rolled in!”

A dense fog had arisen in the area without notice.

Using the fog as cover, Mu Ying and the others placed the thickest and longest wooden shield across the trap trench, turning it into a makeshift bridge.

“Fire!

Provide covering fire!” Brother Hu could no longer care to conceal his tracks, and shouted, “Damn those vixen!”

Flaming arrows were shot out, but with only just over fifty people, and more than ten unable to fight due to collapsed towers, covering fire was nothing but a dream.

The few arrows that randomly struck like a blind cat meeting a dead rat had no effect, being pulled out before they could even catch flame.

“They have fire arrows, there must be kerosene on the arrow towers!”

After crossing the traps, Mu Ying summoned five woodpecker essences that were just below Level 1, sending them to distract the people on the arrow towers.

The enemy had no spellcasters, which is why they knew so little about spellcasters; relying on ordinary swords and daggers they couldn’t kill energy-formed essences that were immune to physical attacks.

Then they sprinted rapidly towards the gate of Chunan Camp, shrouded by fog, setting fire as they ran.

Along the way, they encountered a few who tried to run back to camp to save their lives, some of whom Mu Ying shot dead with an arrow through the throat, others were chopped down by Huo Shaobai and his men, including those originally guarding the camp gates.

In the fog she created, others couldn’t see their movement beyond three steps, but her own people were unaffected.

After paying the entry fee, they finally breathed a sigh of relief upon stepping into the camp.

Now it was their turn to block the gate!

The group lined up and stood at the entrance of the camp.

Who would have thought that the people who had just been outside the traps were suddenly inside the camp?

More and more arrow towers collapsed, the kerosene intensified the blaze, and the nearest water source was not at hand, making it impossible to start putting out the fire.

Fortunately, they still had the camp as a fallback.

Brother Hu led the surviving underlings, covering their noses as they ran into the camp.

As they nearly made out the camp gates, a large number of vines sprouted from the ground, wrapping around their legs and dragging them toward the camp, yet preventing them from truly getting close.

Even as Level 4 Wanderers with lower strength, breaking free from a Level 5 Druid’s entanglement technique was not going to be quick.

After the enemy was restrained, Huo Shaobai and his men took the lead and charged out.

These drug lords were targets of their pursuit even before the apocalypse, and now, even more so, they could not let them go.

The others also cooperated in various ways.

Mu Ying, on the other hand, was shooting arrows from within the camp, every man about to break free met one of her arrows.
