I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 126 - 126 125 The Evolution of Beasts126: Chapter 125: The Evolution of Beasts 126: Chapter 125: The Evolution of Beasts The only response to her was silence.

“What happened to Mu Ying?”

“It seems the wolf pack hasn’t returned yet!

I heard the little wolves went out to learn hunting today.”

“Ah?”

It wasn’t just Mu Ying who was worried.

During this period, this family of wolves had captured the hearts of most players, especially the little wolves who would lie flat for a bit of dried meat and allow themselves to be petted.

“Shh, don’t speak!”

Everyone stopped their discussion and listened intently.

Mu Ying had already heard the barely audible wolf howl from the great distance.

The wolf pack was not in danger, they merely encountered a bit of an accident, which seemed to be a blessing, and they were hurrying back to the territory.

She called out again, instructing them to be careful, before she finally relaxed.

Almost twenty minutes later, a group of spirited figures emerged from the forest, crossing through the protective shield of the territory without any hindrance.

The people at the entrance of the territory stepped back.

Only Mu Ying looked at her own small frame and sighed.

The wolf pack looked completely different from before, each wolf had grown larger, and the adult wolves were almost the size of small horses.

Where Mu Ying’s size had been superior among them before, she was now shorter than the adult wolves.

Their originally dark and gray fur seemed to have been bleached, approaching a silvery-gray hue, sleek and glossy, somewhat close to the fur color of Shi Yin’s wolf form.

“Sky Wolf, mid-level Magic Beast, level 1-3, a mythical beast with a trace of Time-Space Wolfman bloodline, Talent Skills: Sky Pouch, Sky Blade.”

The results of Biological Recognition proved that the change in the wolf pack was not just external.

They had transformed from ordinary mid-sized wild wolves into Magic Beasts, their Race name had changed, and they had acquired two Talent Skills.

The word Magic Beast was something she had seen twice today already, with the previous one being the Jumping Rabbit.

It was indeed mentioned in the dense Monster Atlas.

A wild beast’s entire ability lies within its body, surviving and combating enemies with its Innate Weapons.

However, a Magic Beast, evolved from a wild beast, possesses Talent Skills and is stronger than its wild counterparts.

But a Magic Beast is not necessarily stronger than all wild beasts.

“Ao?” With such a big change, although Mu Ying had some guesses, she still wanted to ask in detail to confirm.

So, the others saw Mu Ying and this group of odd wolves howling non-stop, as if discussing something.

“What are they talking about?”

“These can’t be the wolf pack!”

“How could that be, the difference is too great!”

...

Mu Ying finally confirmed her guess; the wolf pack had been struck by a meteor, then felt their bloodlines boiling, and had transformed into this afterward.

It seemed that this meteor affected not only the arrival of monsters but also the native fauna of Deep Blue Star.

Upon reflection, the first occurrence of the meteor had brought about zombies and had also transformed humans, and although the second appearance involved only monsters, there had been a week of continual rain beforehand that transformed the plants; this third occurrence seemed to be modifying the animals.

Combining the consistent gentle yet harsh style of the Doomsday Game, it seemed to be guiding Deep Blue Star toward a different path step by step.

The Doomsday Game had forcibly and abruptly stripped humanity on Deep Blue Star of its once brilliant civilization, erasing traces of humans’ past.

Yet, it hadn’t cut off the chances of human survival.

Those who could complete the challenge were granted the means to survive in the new world—a Player Manual.

This Player Manual wasn’t just a trick to delude people; even shop owners from the same origin as the Doomsday Game had it, and one could occasionally glimpse them summoning the Player Manual.

The child of the Sela couple, Little Tom, and Dong Xiaogang were about the same age, chose the same Profession, and trained in skills identically.

The difference was that he apparently didn’t have a quota of Slaughter Experience, always repeating his professional training day after day.

The abilities of a player were not reliant on the Player Manual, which served more as a carrier of professional knowledge and a recorder of the player’s level.

The Doomsday Game had given her the opportunity to experience and possess miraculous abilities.

Mu Ying was grateful but found it hard to judge whether forcibly dragging a world onto another path was right, especially for human civilization.

For those who were eliminated during the changes, this was undoubtedly harsh, but for those who adapted to the apocalypse, it was fresh and wondrous.

Putting aside the issues of human civilization and development and looking from the entire planet’s perspective, the changes brought by the Doomsday Game were actually beneficial and truly a form of evolution.

Having realized the significance of nature, Mu Ying understood that the previous human development on Deep Blue Star, advancing technology with firearms to increase group Strength, had greatly harmed the natural environment.

Humans had conquered this planet, but the planet was deteriorating.

Now, however, human Strength returned to themselves.

The various miraculous abilities were, in the past, the equivalent of clean energy, weren’t they?

They produced no harmful substances and were renewable, representing another kind of sustainable development.

Personally, Mu Ying preferred the vibrant world as it was now; perhaps it wasn’t as stable and convenient as before, but the future might be brighter.

This brief introspection brightened Mu Ying’s mood considerably, clearing much of her hidden worries about the Doomsday Game; she had become more curious about the civilization behind the Doomsday Game.

From the three occurrences of monsters appearing, it was evident that the Doomsday Game’s concern was not limited to humans.

Although it placed importance on intelligent beings, first transforming humans and providing safe zones like camps, but plants and animals were also within its protection scope, also given the chance to evolve.

Perhaps in the future, other beings and even non-living things might be included.

It might be said that the Doomsday Game focused on the entirety of the planet, a civilization with such a vision must be remarkable.

Many things were still not suitable for detailed questioning in public; after a brief conversation with the Wolf Pack, Mu Ying prepared to head back.

The Wolf Pack had grown larger in size; the basement level of the original Tree House had been rather low to save space and now was completely insufficient.

Mu Ying directly raised the ceiling of the basement, aligning it with the first and second floors where she lived.

After entering, Da Hui, the only one proficient in two Talent Skills, demonstrated their abilities to Mu Ying.

The Sky Pouch was a dimensional space located on the Wolf Chest, slightly smaller even than Mu Ying’s Storage Pouch, useful for storing items.

The young wolf, Sky Wolf, was smaller.

Sky Blade was a Magic-like ability.

Currently, only Da Hui could form a complete Sky Blade, a silver-white energy blade, covert and very sharp, comparable to the effect of a level 1 Spell.

After their evolution, Da Hui and his kin instinctively understood their Race and abilities.

Both Sky Blade and Sky Pouch could still be enhanced further.

As for the relation between Sky Wolf and Time-Space Wolfman, Da Hui was less familiar, but they all felt that becoming so formidable was Shi Yin’s merit, perhaps due to spending much time together and being influenced by his spatial abilities.
