I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 129 - 129 128 Daily Practice of Spells129: Chapter 128: Daily Practice of Spells 129: Chapter 128: Daily Practice of Spells At dawn, Professor Su, holding a bowl of wash water, stepped outside to pour it when suddenly two figures appeared at the pile of stones.

He took a closer look and his face broke into a smile, “Mu Girl, out practicing magic so early again?

Gungun is following along today too!”

“Yeah, it got bored playing by itself, so it simply followed me out, and there’s not much danger in the Chaotic Stone Forest anyway,” Mu Ying said with a smile, waving her hand to transform the stones dug up by the stone miners yesterday into stone materials and stored them in the territory interface.

Hearing Professor Su talking outside, Professor Du came out with a coat to put on him and, seeing Mu Ying dressed thinly, he advised worriedly, “Mu Girl, it’s autumn now, the temperature is low in the mornings and evenings, wear more!”

“I know, thank you for your concern,” Mu Ying, wearing a long-sleeved dress shirt, actually wasn’t cold, but thinking that Professor Du had advised her to add more clothes twice in the mornings, she decided to add an extra jacket to the appearance options of the Thousand Faces Clothes in the future.

After gathering all the stone materials, she waved goodbye to Professor Su and his wife and left the Quarry Camp.

Everyone in the territory had their own tasks to busy themselves with; the pressure of survival left no room for idleness.

It had been over half a month since the last monster invasion.

Since the trading hall was built, she had focused her energy on learning 3-ring Magic.

At first, she only practiced in the Plantation because there was a long way to go from first attempting to successfully casting a spell with the intended effect, typically taking three to four days.

In the beginning, when she was not skilled, the imperfections in spell effects were not a big concern.

It was not until the first time she successfully cast the complete form of the Summoning Lightning Skill that she scorched a fruit-bearing citrus tree and realized that 3-ring spells were no longer suitable to be practiced in a plantation full of plants.

She then began looking for a new practice location.

Naturally, she thought of the place where she had practiced another form of the Summoning Lightning Skill during stormy weather—the Chaotic Stone Forest.

She deliberately chose a spot outside the Quarry Camp with a good view and close proximity to the camp, where she would continue to work on improving her magic once her skills reached a certain level.

After the last meteor fall, traces of magic beasts and monsters had increased in various places.

In the first few days, the sounds of fighting for territory could be heard within the territory.

Players who were bold yet cautious could gather abundant loot from these skirmishes.

But it quieted down after a few days.

Whether living in groups or solo, all used force to claim their own territories.

Since there was frequent player activity nearby, there had already been few dangerous wild animals around the territory even before the meteor fell.

Therefore, after the meteor fell, the monsters around the territory weren’t as numerous as elsewhere, and after a few encounters with players, they either died or fled.

The Chaotic Stone Forest used to be the territory of the Petrified Lizards.

Once they were captured for breeding, only small animals remained, along with players who visited the Breeding Camp to collect thorny ball grass for their tasks.

Originally at the last meteor’s descent, two eagles evolved into a level 3 Magic Beast called Giant Eagles and became the new rulers of this place.

But after Mu Ying practiced the Summoning Lightning Skill here for several days in a row, she moved to another direction in the Chaotic Stone Forest and rarely came towards the Quarry Camp or Breeding Camp.

So practicing magic here was quite safe.

To improve efficiency, she usually came once in the morning, practiced for around an hour, and after depleting her mana value to about 25 points, she would return to the Plantation to either tend to the plants and accumulate Professional Experience or practice archery and swordsmanship.

The vegetation around was lush, typically around four in the afternoon, her Mana Value would have fully recovered, and at this time, she would practice her Spells in the Chaotic Stone Forest again.

After today, she finally wouldn’t have to run to the Chaotic Stone Forest every day.

During this period, she had managed to practice the three most powerful Spells in the third circle, “Summoning Lightning Skill, Snow Rainstorm, and Wind Wall Skill,” up to the standard line.

The difficulty of learning third-circle Spells grew exponentially, and Mu Ying took an average of six to seven days to master a single Spell, but there was no issue of not being able to learn them.

This process was like two people who do not speak the same Language negotiating.

Communicating with nature over and over, making requests, nature would respond, but the communication was vague; often, the results differed from what was wanted, causing unnecessary waste.

She had to make several corrections, finding the most suitable commands for herself, then she could perform the corresponding spell effects.

But once she figured out the commands, casting Spells was no longer a problem, she just needed to work on the timing and accuracy of spell deployment.

Mu Ying had Crosshair and Arrow Mastery Skill, which also helped with the accuracy of her spellcasting, so once she found the right commands with nature, she just needed to consider where and when to use the Spells and how to integrate them into her combat system.

However, this was not something she could master by standing alone and practicing for a while; she needed to adventure in battle to find out.

So, as long as she mastered the commands, she didn’t have to practice casting mechanically every day.

Today’s morning practice ended faster than usual, since she had mastered these three Spells, unlike before, when after each casting, she would need to summarize what was gained and lost, to see what details needed to be corrected in the next communication.

With continuous releasing, each Spell only took a few minutes.

“Alright, let’s go back,” Mu Ying waved at Gungun.

While she practiced her Spells, Gungun would sit by idly gnawing at Iron Bamboo, staring blankly over at her, looking quite bored.

“Following me must be more interesting than playing in the Plantation or territory by yourself, right?

I can’t pay attention to you when I’m practicing my Spells,” Mu Ying rubbed its big head.

Indeed, it was a big head now, it took both hands to roughly rub its big head, and it was nearing the size of a normal adult Giant Panda from before the apocalypse, though it was still in its infancy.

Mu Ying didn’t know if it and a regular panda were still the same species, just looking at its strange Skills made her feel a difference, perhaps it could even grow beyond the size of a normal Giant Panda.

However, its apparent advantageous Attributes were Strength and Constitution, its agility was a bit lacking; carrying her might not be a problem, but its moving speed could be slower than Mu Ying herself.

So the idea of it serving as a mount was aborted.

Gungun shook its head, placed the half-gnawed Iron Bamboo back in its basket, and stood up, turning its back towards her.

Mu Ying instantly understood as she saw the dust on its plump rear; it had become very conscious of its appearance since realizing its attraction to players.

Every evening, it would go to the lakeside with the Wolf Pack to groom, particularly loving cleanliness.

Sometimes, if it got dirty during the day, it would ask her for a Cleaning Technique or Cleaning Magic.

If it couldn’t find her, it would sulk in the Tree House or Plantation and absolutely would not appear dirty in public, very particular about its cleanliness.
