I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 140 - 140 139 Picking Up Eggs140: Chapter 139: Picking Up Eggs 140: Chapter 139: Picking Up Eggs Mu Ying also joined the egg-gathering team.

The fire-breathing eggs were slightly smaller than ordinary eggs, with the eggshells slightly reddish, just like their meat.

She had just joined the fight, so she had a share of the fire-breathing chicken meat, and she also secretly stored some in her Storage Pouch, which couldn’t fit in everyone else’s.

There was no need to worry about space in the Storage Pouch; before heading out, she had transformed another backpack in Square World, sewing it together with the original Storage Pouch, hanging it at her waist.

But now, the eggs were on the ground.

Whoever picked them up would keep them.

She had clearly stated in the mission that what was found on the road belonged to the individual.

So, if anyone wanted to try these eggs, they’d have to pick them themselves or buy them from someone else afterward.

Although she was willing to help the territory’s residents earn income and was generous in distributing the spoils, unlike some Lords who only thought of extorting money from their residents as if they didn’t care about money.

In reality, her generosity toward the residents was because the wealthier the residents were, the wealthier the territory would be.

She herself was still very frugal; why spend money on something that could be picked up for free?

“The Lord is really down-to-earth, huh?

She’s picking eggs herself?

Even Gungun is up to it!”

“Let’s go pick over there and leave this area for the Lord.

She’s still underage, we should look after her a bit.”

“Heard she turned eighteen already!”

“Still, we ought to preserve some face for the Lord.

She doesn’t pay attention to herself, we can’t pretend to be unaware!”

Perception, with heightened senses, Mu Ying was silent for a second.

Pretending to be hard of hearing every day was tiring too.

With a trace of mischief, she looked up and smiled, “I heard that!”

“...”

“Hehe, being down-to-earth is good; it’s better than those who are in touch with the underworld!”

“Pop!”

“What nonsense are you talking!

It’s a unique dignity of our Lord!”

Mu Ying smiled again to remind, “If you don’t start collecting, there won’t be any eggs left!

I’m not going to make way for you.

Ah, such a big nest of eggs...”

“Hey, hey, hey, I spotted this nest first!”

“Don’t you fight me for it!”

The two quickly refocused and began scrambling for eggs.

Compared to money, the status of a Lord was just a trivial matter.

“Fools,” Old Mao, silently collecting eggs, prepared to amaze everyone, disdainfully looked at the two fools.

Did the Lord ask them to yield?

After a “joyful” egg-gathering activity, they hit the road again and didn’t encounter any more dangers.

They ate only some dry food at noon, and by evening they had set up camp early, preparing to have a good meal and spend the night.

Mu Ying moved the large pot from the ox-cart.

“Those who are good at cooking, come here; we’re in charge of the team’s food.

The rest of you can organize a watch schedule.”

Mu Ying led the charge to join the cooking team; she didn’t want to keep watch.

Six people joined her.

Everyone was conscious about taking care of the girls.

In the apocalypse, who couldn’t cook?

Eating out every day was unaffordable.

Although cooking was not exactly relaxing, it was still more comfortable than keeping watch.

The ingredients on hand were just right to try out.

“We have chicken, eggs, and flour; let’s make egg drop soup and pan-fried bread.

We’ll wrap the chicken in mud and roast it in the firepit, how about that?”

With so many people, they needed not only to feed everyone but also to save time without too much hassle.

This would provide filling bread, warming soup, and even meat, making it quite a feast.

“I can knead the dough.”

“I’ll dig some mud!”

“I make good soup!”

“I’ll gather some firewood.”

“Shall I assist you?”

Seeing everyone agree, Mu Ying started working.

Unable to use Cooking Magic, the cooking process was a lot more cumbersome, but with good ingredients upfront and others willing to help, it wasn’t too exhausting.

Besides those cooking, others paired up and wandered into the nearby woods.

Some brought back a few wild fruits, others a pouch of mushrooms, so the egg drop soup was temporarily turned into mushroom egg drop soup.

The aroma gradually wafted out.

Many gathered around the pot to watch them busy themselves.

“Why do I feel like we are on a picnic?” Lu You swallowed, and the food was pretty good!

“This flavor is incredible!

We’re in for a treat tonight!”

“Gungun~”

“Gungun~”

“I’m hungry.”

...

“Dinner time!” Mu Ying tapped the edge of the pot.

“Wow~” Lu You cried out and rushed forward, as he couldn’t wait any longer.

Moments later, each player held a wooden soup bowl and a large pancake, sitting together with a roasted chicken on a giant leaf in front of them, wrapped in leaves and cracked open from its mud shell.

All around were figures bent over in earnest eating.

MU Ying and Gungun shared a roasted chicken, and with her first sip of the soup, she felt a mild spiciness that warmed her from her tongue all the way to her stomach.

?

She had intended to make something light and hadn’t added any chili peppers.

Mu Ying stared at the soup in her hand, and used her tongue to curl up a piece of egg drop on the edge of the bowl.

Indeed, the spiciness came from there.

She took another bite of the chicken, which also had a spicy flavor.

Fire-breathing Chickens actually come with their own spicy flavor?

This spice wasn’t as intense as chili pepper, but it was just right, adding a nice kick to the food.

Mu Ying was glad she hadn’t added chili peppers; otherwise, it would have been too much.

It seemed she would have to taste the ingredients from Magic Beasts herself in the future, otherwise, if the meat of a salty Magic Beast had extra salt added, it might become inedible.

“How many days away is Chunan?” Niu Shun asked Guan Hai.

“At most two and a half days.”

“Chunan is so Close?

Does that mean we only get to enjoy this meal once?” Niu Shun touched his stomach, regretting he couldn’t eat more.

After all, they had dry food for breakfast and lunch, and only set up camp for a good meal in the evening.

“Shall we slow down a bit?” Niu Shun couldn’t help but suggest.

“Look over there,” Guan Hai nodded his head subtly.

“...” Niu Shun froze.

Mu Ying’s smile was more than he could bear, especially when she was making small talk.

Luckily, she soon looked away.

Niu Shun breathed a sigh of relief, lowered his voice, and whispered close to Guan Hai’s ear, “How can she hear us from so far away?”

Guan Hai poked him, pointing in a certain direction.

Gaining a mysterious smile ×2 from Mu Ying, Niu Shun shut up completely.

In fact, Mu Ying hadn’t heard anything this time; her hearing was good, but not so good that she could hear whispers from several meters away.

The first time Niu Shun didn’t realize how loud his voice was, she had heard him.

Now, she liked to stare at him and smile when he spoke ill, then watch him freeze, which she found quite amusing.

The second time was when Mu Ying saw Niu Shun sneakily lean towards Guan Hai’s ear, probably not saying anything nice, so she just smiled maliciously at him, and clearly, she had guessed right.

Hmph, dare to delay our progress, be careful she might deduct your pay!

Mu Ying muttered to herself, set up her tent and crawled in with Gungun.

This was the tent bought during the last trip to Wolf King Slope for Wolf Transformation training, which hadn’t been used much as she soon learned to bunk down like a wolf in the open air.

The tent was not big, but it was enough for her to sleep in, and even roll around inside.

If there was any downside to leading a team, it was that she couldn’t take out a pile of wood to build a house like when she was en route to Spirit Dragon Gorge, where she planned to also set up a traveler’s cottage along this route later, but for now she couldn’t do it and would have to wait until she was on her own again.
