I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 133 - 133 132 Taking Up the Mantle133: Chapter 132 Taking Up the Mantle 133: Chapter 132 Taking Up the Mantle The next morning.

Mu Ying sat on the sofa where Senior Sister Rosie used to sit, cradling a Magic Book, her thoughts drifting to who knows where.

The pots and pans in the kitchen area were bustling about, and the scent of breakfast had already wafted out.

Lillian squatted by the fireplace, playing with the fire.

Windsor stared blankly at the liquor cabinet next to her, filled with booze left by Senior Reni, enough for them to use from welcoming juniors to their own coming-of-age celebrations.

“Dingling!”

After breakfast was served, the dining bell rang out heavily on its own.

“Alright, let’s eat,” Mu Ying stood up.

In the real world, she didn’t have any close friends other than Shi Yin.

She had some acquaintances with whom she interacted more, but she still kept her distance.

The witches she had met in this Trial World had become very important friends to her.

Their vivid warmth often made her forget that this was the Trial World, the place where she sought to improve herself, not a warm haven.

In the blink of an eye, half of their time studying at the witch magic school had passed.

For Mu Ying, who traveled between the real world and the Trial World, this time had particularly flown by because, from her entry into this Trial World to the end of the current school year, less than four months had passed in the real world.

Now was the time to part with her seniors, and in four months, it would be time to say goodbye to her classmates.

Eventually, a witch would have to face this world alone.

Once seated at the dining table, Mu Ying looked at Lillian and Windsor, who still seemed out of sorts, and said, “Snap out of it!

Senior Sister would cry if she saw you like this.”

Lillian glared at her, “The person who just knocked over all the books was who, I wonder?”

Mu Ying: “...”

“Have a drink?” Windsor glanced at the liquor cabinet.

“Drinking this early in the morning?” Mu Ying looked at Windsor, who was usually quite well-behaved.

“It’s the holidays, who cares?” Windsor said, about to get up.

Mu Ying quickly pressed her down; it seemed she needed to find something for them to do.

“You’re not leaving the school this holiday, right?”

Windsor: “Yeah, I don’t have the energy.”

Lillian: “Don’t feel like moving.”

“Oh, then that’s just perfect.

Let’s get to know our own responsibilities before the new students arrive.

We don’t want to embarrass our seniors by being all flustered.

Lillian, the meat in the ice cellar is running low; you need to restock these next couple of days.

And Windsor, you should start prepping the new students’ rooms.

I’ll be in charge of preparing the food for the welcome party, so our direct juniors won’t go hungry on their first day.

And save some of that alcohol, we don’t know how to make it, save some for the juniors.

Hurry up and eat, then get moving!”

Mu Ying doled out the tasks.

“Why do I feel like Senior Lucia has come back?” Windsor tilted her head and murmured.

“You’re not wrong; Mu Ying has gone nuts!” Lillian nodded emphatically.

Mu Ying: “...”

“Eat or get lost smoothly!” Mu Ying snapped.

“Eat eat eat, I mean who is the Red Witch here, you or me?

Such a hot temper!” Lillian couldn’t keep her mouth shut for a second; she immediately picked up her favorite pancake and took a big bite.

Mu Ying then looked towards Windsor, who had taken a big sip of milk and even licked the milk stains around her mouth, “Delicious!”

Mu Ying: “Some people truly can’t be coddled properly!”

She bit into the toast fiercely, huffing in annoyance.

Fortunately, the argument had managed to barely lift everyone’s spirits, and after finishing their meals, they all went about their separate tasks.

Mu Ying first visited the greenhouse to check on all the herbal medicines.

From now on, these would rely on her care, but thankfully, Senior Sister Rosie had taught her before, and she had already gotten the hang of some of it.

The greenhouse was roughly divided into three parts.

The common Medicine Field and greenhouse for herbal medicines, Senior Sister Rosie’s Medicine Field and greenhouse, and Mu Ying’s Medicine Field and greenhouse.

Senior Sister Rosie had taken all the Magic Plants she cultivated with her since those plants were adapted to her Magic Power and Mu Ying had difficulty cultivating them properly; her area of the Medicine Field and greenhouse was now empty.

Mu Ying tidied up this section diligently, so it would be ready for use if there were any green witches among the new students.

After organizing that area, following Senior Sister Rosie’s instruction, she watered the herbs that needed watering and repotted those that required it.

For some uncertain cases, she had to consult the “Greenhouse Herbal Care Notebook”—a book that had been passed down among green witch students for countless generations.

This book was even thicker than the Witch’s Book, containing the wisdom accumulated by generations of green witches who had managed the greenhouse.

Although not everyone had left their name, the handwriting alone varied in over a hundred ways; it could indeed be considered a treasure trove of a book.

After all, not every year would see the enrollment of a green witch, and the responsibilities of the greenhouse could rarely be taken over by witches with other Talents.

If there came a break in the lineage, the greenhouse could easily become neglected and overgrown.

Hence the creation of this book, along with a special collection of herbal seeds preserved by Magic, stored alongside the book.

Mu Ying still remembered the words Senior Sister Rosie had said to her not long ago.

“Mu Ying, my biggest regret is that I couldn’t plant all the preserved herbal seeds in the greenhouse before I graduated.

You must carry on my legacy and cultivate all those herbs that aren’t in the Medicine Fields.

For the two sessions before me, there wasn’t a single green witch, and the greenhouse lost many herbs.

I tried for two years but still couldn’t plant them all.

Some of these seeds are now very hard to find in the outside world.

It’s a pity I couldn’t cultivate them during my school years to add more seeds to our supply; neither can I take them with me.

The greenhouse’s Herbal Cultivation managed to recover after countless interruptions due to these things, which we all must uphold.

These are the seeds of the herbs I successfully cultivated.

I’m leaving you some.

You can choose those I haven’t worked with for your research.

If you succeed in trial planting, remember to add some to the seed cabinet.

With what remains, you can manage them yourself or take them with you.

When that time comes, and you send a letter, attach some; I will be delighted.”

Mu Ying opened the seed cabinet, which was filled with various small cloth bags, each containing a type of herbal seed.

This was probably the largest treasure of the greenhouse, many of which Mu Ying had never even seen before.

Any green witch would probably find it hard to resist packing up these plants and taking them away!

Mu Ying even considered transferring a set into the real world.

But she resisted the urge.

Not every cultivation attempt would succeed, especially those from seeds of plants that were extinct or on the brink of extinction, which posed a significant challenge to grow.

Each failed cultivation would consume one seed, so some seed bags here were empty or had only one or two seeds left, making them incredibly precious.

This was the legacy of the green witches, and she couldn’t be selfish about it.

With only one year left, time was limited.

Mu Ying selectively tried planting some herbs that were hard to collect from the outside world, based on the Magic Potion formulas she planned to study.

By successfully growing them, she would be able to save some seeds for herself.

Ever since she learned Copy Magic, she spent most of her time in the library, copying Magic Books and Magic Potion Books, preparing for the future.

She only intended to profoundly study these two areas.
