Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Just as a group of imps was about to haul the assistant away and throw him into a boiling cauldron, he turned his head at the critical moment. In the distance, he saw Zhao Rong and three beautiful women approaching.

When the assistant saw his rescuers, he broke into a grin. ”I told you my team wouldn’t abandon me! I said someone would come save me, but you wouldn’t believe it...”

Hearing this, the imps holding him erupted in derisive laughter.

”On the brink of death and you’re still cracking jokes? This is the underworld, not the world of the living,” one sneered. ”We don’t believe anyone would be badass enough to rush from the land of the living to the underworld to save you. Are they looking to die?”

”Let’s just toss this guy into the cauldron already and stop his fantasizing,” another added. ”How could anyone possibly come save him here? What a ridiculous joke.”

”Yeah, if a human really was that incredible—coming all the way from the world of the living to save you,” a third imp jeered, ”then we might as well call you Grandpa.”

Just as the imps were mocking the idea, Zhao Rong charged forward. He leaped into the air with a flying kick, knocking down the entire cluster of imps holding the assistant. The three women were right behind him, brandishing ghost-beating sticks. With their mechanical dog, they rushed forward and laid into the imps blocking their path.

Zhao Rong rushed over, grabbed the assistant’s hand, and pointed toward a distant gate. ”Assistant, we’re here to save you! Quick, let’s escape!”

Running behind Zhao Rong, the assistant said in disbelief, ”Brother Zhao Rong, I was sure I was a dead man. I thought there was no way anyone could save me. But I never imagined you’d all magically appear here, coming from the world of the living to the underworld. It’s truly been an eye-opener.”

At that moment, the three women caught up, and the group of five frantically dashed toward the nearby gate.

Lili looked the assistant up and down. ”Assistant,” she said with feeling, ”if we’d been a step later, you would’ve been deep-fried.”

Yu Lan pictured the scene in her mind. ”If you had been tossed into that cauldron, you’d definitely have been fried up like KFC.”

Xuelian shook her head. ”Assistant, I could tell from a distance that the oil in that cauldron was extremely hot. I don’t think you’d just be fried into KFC. You’d probably be turned into McDonald’s and Dicos, too.”

By then, Zhao Rong had led the three women and the assistant through the small gate, successfully escaping. Following closely, the assistant asked with great curiosity, ”Brother Zhao Rong, what I really want to know is, how did you all get from the human world into this hell?”

Zhao Rong pointed to a nearby elevator-like structure. ”I bought something from the Paradise Shopping Cart that allows for free travel between the world of the living and the underworld: the Hell Elevator. That’s what we rode to get here.”

Before Zhao Rong could finish, the three women stared in horror as the structure began to slowly vanish.

”Brother Zhao Rong, look!” one of them cried out. ”The Hell Elevator, our ride from the world of the living—it’s disappearing!”

Lili’s face turned pale. ”Brother Zhao Rong, if the Hell Elevator is gone, does that mean we have no way to get back to the world of the living from this underworld?”

Xuelian looked at the pitch-black sky and the various imps swarming toward them. ”Brother Zhao Rong,” she said, her voice filled with fear, ”if we can’t get back, we’ll have to stay in the underworld forever! And if we stay here forever, doesn’t that mean we’re considered dead?”

Yu Lan added anxiously, ”Brother Zhao Rong, you have to think of something! We can’t just wait here to die now that the Hell Elevator is gone.”

Zhao Rong now also noticed that the Hell Elevator had indeed vanished. He scratched the back of his head in bewilderment. ”What in the world is going on? When I bought this from the Paradise Shopping Cart, the seller swore it could go from the world of the living to the underworld and back again. Why has it vanished now that we want to return? Did the seller trick us?”

Hearing this, the assistant immediately spoke up. ”Brother Zhao Rong, since the seller guaranteed it could travel both ways, you should contact them for after-sales support and get this resolved!”

The three women chimed in, ”Brother Zhao Rong, hurry up and get on your phone! Open the Paradise Shopping Cart app and contact the seller for support! We can’t just wait here in the underworld to die, can we?”

Taking their advice, Zhao Rong quickly pulled out his phone, opened the Paradise Shopping Cart, and contacted the seller.

”Hey,” he typed, ”didn’t you say the Hell Elevator you sold me could travel from the world of the living to the underworld and back? We used it to get to the underworld and rescue someone, but it disappeared just as we were about to go back. What’s going on?”

Upon receiving the feedback, a customer service representative quickly replied, ”Our sincerest apologies. The Hell Elevator we sent you was a display model. You were in a hurry and so were we with the shipment, so in our haste, we sent you the demo unit by mistake. If you can wait a moment, we will send a brand-new one immediately. That way, you’ll be able to take the Hell Elevator from the underworld back to the world of the living.”

When Zhao Rong heard that the seller had sent him a display model, he was absolutely livid. He immediately left a negative review and typed back, ”You have one minute to send a brand-new Hell Elevator. Otherwise, I’m filing a formal complaint against you!”

Before he could even finish typing, a package dropped at his feet. Attached was a letter of apology.

”We are truly sorry. Since the Hell Elevator we sent you previously was a display model, we have now sent you a Super-Speed Version of the Hell Elevator. It will take you back to the world of the living at the speed of light.”
