Reborn As Super Heiress

Sure enough, when Huo Sining displayed her officer ID, the gaze of everyone inside the cabin towards Huo Sining instantly changed.

Although they had never imagined a female officer would come to rescue them, in their eyes, this young woman becoming a colonel surely meant she was capable.

Moreover, the man who knocked out those Dongyang devils was just a district captain, yet this woman was a colonel. And she hadn’t even been the one to step forward initially; it was that man leading the charge, evidently showing that this woman held a higher position than the male officer and was probably more formidable.

Those on the ship started automatically imagining Huo Sining had a superior relationship to Gu Xu, firmly believing this. Consequently, one by one, they gravitated toward Huo Sining, looking at her with even more eagerness.

The woman who was nearly assaulted calmed down at this moment, lifting the injured man from the ground and explaining:

”We are fishermen from Donghai Port. Half a month ago, my husband and I took a group of crew members out to sea with our fishing boat, unexpectedly encountering a group of Dongyang people.”

”Being on the high seas, we didn’t intend to have conflicts with anyone. At the time, we tracked down a school of warm current fish, planning to fish when unexpectedly, those people tried to seize it. My husband argued a bit with them, angering those Dongyang devils.”

”These people directly rammed their ship into ours. Their fishing vessel was several times our size; we couldn’t withstand it, so we had to jump into the sea with life jackets. As a result, everyone was captured by those Dongyang people, and our fishing boat was directly sunk by them!”

Upon hearing this, Huo Sining’s face immediately darkened, and Gu Xu shared the same anger, his eyes full of coldness.

Huo Sining, specializing in biology and having studied marine matters, had interned at the maritime bureau, making her well-versed in their affairs.

Back when she first entered the field years ago, she’d heard of Dongyang fishing vessels’ rampant behavior on the high seas, often seizing Huaxia’s maritime resources violently or forcibly detaining Huaxia’s vessels. During her three years at S University, Huo Sining heard numerous news reports about Huaxia fishermen disappearing at sea or their boats being rammed and sunk.

Yet, those articles were mere text, none as impactful as the scene Huo Sining was witnessing now.

Seeing those Dongyang people bully Huaxia people like this made Huo Sining downright furious. It was too arrogant and absurd. Did they treat the International Maritime Treaty as child’s play, thinking themselves as Overlords who could do as they pleased?

Huo Sining couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh, nodding to the speaking woman and reassuringly said: ”Don’t worry, we’ll make sure this is settled!”

The Dongyang Maritime Bureau may be notorious, but this matter was too vile for Huo Sining to leave unchallenged. Since it had come to her attention, she wouldn’t let these fishermen suffer such humiliation in vain!

Initially, Huo Sining considered that the Dongyang fishermen on the deck might not be involved in the illegal detention of the Oil Rat, but now it seemed these people weren’t innocent. Quite likely, they were part of Iga-ryu, possibly accomplices under Fujiwara Seiho.

She couldn’t help but caution Gu Xu: ”Aren’t these Dongyang people looking for a game? Let’s give them a big one this time!”

Gu Xu didn’t know what exactly Huo Sining intended to do, but since his wife said so, he supported her unconditionally, having no objection to her words.

Huo Sining’s eyes shifted, and they landed on a small side door in the corner of the cargo hold. Unable to resist, she asked everyone: ”What’s the situation with that side door?”

The trapped fishermen obviously knew the situation behind the side door. The child, previously terrified and silent, finally burst into tears:

”There are so many instruments there, it’s so scary. The bad people locked dad and uncle inside, whipping them and burning them with tongs. It hurts, dad hurts so much!”

Huo Sining was momentarily stunned upon hearing this, while another woman hurriedly embraced the child tightly, soothing him in a low voice, her eyes reddened.

Now, Huo Sining had a vague realization that this side door was likely the torture chamber mentioned by the Oil Rat.

She exchanged glances with Gu Xu, and both spontaneously moved toward that door.

Gu Xu kicked the door open, revealing a variety of torture instruments inside, along with a strong smell of blood, clearly indicating these fishermen had endured inhumane treatment inside this chamber.

But Huo Sining couldn’t dwell on such thoughts now. Her eyes fell immediately on a huddled figure in the corner, unclear if he was conscious or passed out. Despite not being able to see his features or having exchanged words, Huo Sining could guess the man’s identity.

This man was likely the partner described by the Oil Rat.

”What’s the situation with this person, do you know?” Huo Sining asked the Huaxia people behind her.

The Huaxia individuals shook their heads: ”Not sure, but this person was captured four days ago along with another sharp-faced guy. That man suddenly disappeared two days ago. We suspect he found a way to escape, which made those Dongyang devils furious. They interrogated us, torturing us to tell how that person escaped.”

At this point, Huo Sining was fully certain that the person sitting on the ground was the Oil Rat’s accomplice.

The person was found, but there was no trace of the Medicine King Cauldron. Plus, there was a group of Dongyang devils outside yet to be dealt with. Huo Sining was seething with rage and had no outlet to vent, momentarily unable to care about the Oil Rat’s partner’s survival.

She signaled to Gu Xu, and they pretended to take out a backpack from the corner, actually retrieving it from Huo Sining’s storage ring. Inside were originally food and water prepared for the yacht, which they distributed.

These people had been trapped on this ship for so long, eating spoiled food that couldn’t fill their stomachs, they were starved. Seeing food, they began gobbling it down ravenously.

Huo Sining and Gu Xu offered some comforting words, encouraging everyone to patiently wait in the cargo hold. Then, the two exited the cargo area, heading toward the ship’s cabin.
