Reborn As Super Heiress

Over there, Qibao snorted in clear dissatisfaction. ”That tiny thing counts as a fish? You probably haven’t even seen what a real fish looks like.”

Su Qingqing didn’t care. ”Fishing isn’t about trash talk. If you’ve got what it takes, you should reel a few in yourself.”

Standing to the side, Huo Sining couldn’t help rubbing her forehead, really wanting to tell Su Qingqing to stop provoking the opponent like this, but the girl was dead set on digging her own grave.

Ugh. Huo Sining kept sighing inwardly, muttering in her heart: Girl, you really can’t blame me for not helping you. That smug attitude of yours is way over the top; even I’m itching to stomp you a little.

The few of them calmly watched Su Qingqing show off on the side, even deliberately letting her pull up a few fish first with a hint of malicious amusement before they finally got down to business.

”Sister Su, you’ve caught a few already, you’ve had your fun. From here on out, it’s our show. Just watch.”

Qibao blinked at Su Qingqing and gave her a weird little grin. Then Su Qingqing was stunned to discover that her surf rod suddenly stopped working—no matter how she cast, the fish just refused to bite.

Meanwhile, Qibao and Zhong Xiaoyao over there kept dropping and lifting their rods nonstop; sometimes it didn’t even take ten seconds before another fish was hooked. Even little Niuniu didn’t miss a single cast.

That wasn’t even the worst of it. What really stunned people was that the three of them treated fishing like playing a game. Other people’s catches, before the rod could be lifted, always needed a prolonged tug-of-war; when the fish was yanked off the water’s surface by the hook, it would constantly thrash and drag, making a last desperate struggle.

But when these few fished, the moment they pulled the rod, the fish acted like they were already dead—no movement at all, obediently letting themselves be hauled out of the water. It looked ridiculously effortless.

That’s also why even a little loli like Niuniu could easily pull on the rod and drag one- or two-pound fish ashore without meeting any resistance whatsoever—because it basically took no effort.

Su Qingqing was completely speechless. She watched, wide-eyed, as these little freaks landed more and more fish, each bigger than the last, and she just couldn’t figure out what the hell was going on.

At first she thought all the fish had swum over to those little kids. Not afraid of being mocked by the little brats, she grabbed her rod and ran over to sit next to Qibao, trying to fight them for territory.

Qibao and Niuniu didn’t fight her for space at all; they even politely ceded the spot to her. But very quickly Su Qingqing realized that even after she changed spots, the fish still ignored her bait and only chose to bite the rods of those little punks.

Ten minutes, twenty minutes, half an hour...

Aside from the few small fish she’d caught at the beginning, Su Qingqing didn’t land a single fish again, while over there their baskets were almost overflowing!

Getting more and more depressed, Su Qingqing even started suspecting her dad had given her some second-rate junk to fool her. War God King, my ass—this thing was total crap.

Seeing how tragic Su Qingqing looked, Huo Sining practically couldn’t bear to look directly. This wasn’t bullying noobs anymore; this was pure, unadulterated crushing. After this blow, the girl probably wouldn’t want to mention fishing ever again.

After an hour, the fishing competition ended. Other than Su Qingqing and Bai Yishan, everyone else’s baskets were filled with a decent haul. And very tacitly, everyone’s catch was a different type: over at Yue Shuwen’s spot, it was basically all prawns, each around a pound; Huo Sining’s net was stuffed with big crabs; Qibao and Niuniu mostly caught yellow croaker; Zhong Xiaoyao’s rod brought up nothing but grouper. After tallying everything, Huo Sining was basically sure that with this much loot, they’d definitely have enough to eat tonight.

By this time, Gu Xu’s tents were mostly set up as well—two people per tent, with Yue Shuwen and Zhong Xiaoyao each assigned to take care of one kid. Only Qibao insisted on having a tent to himself. While everyone wasn’t paying attention, the little guy quietly snuck up to Huo Sining and whispered that he wanted to sleep with Miaomiao.

The little ”Treasure Egg” had also been brought out by Gu Xu, though he’d been hidden in a backpack the whole time. Once they got on the island, the little thing followed beside Huo Sining to watch, but kept his form concealed. Obviously he’d been instructed by Huo Sining not to let Su Qingqing or Bai Yishan see him.

Since Qibao requested to sleep with Treasure Egg, Huo Sining was of course all for it. They were both boys, and both had skills to protect themselves, plus the kid’s tent was in the very center, so there was nothing to worry about safety-wise.

Because Su Qingqing lost the fishing match, the little brats clamored for her to honor the bet. Su Qingqing had no choice and could only accept the punishment: run one lap around the entire island.

Gu Xu still kept a bit of caution in mind. Even though this was an uninhabited island, they were still strangers to the terrain; no one could guarantee there was no danger. So of course they couldn’t let Su Qingqing wander around alone—he suggested letting Wu Jun accompany her.

Wu Jun immediately nodded in agreement when he heard that, grinning as he hurried after Su Qingqing, trotting along after her.

Yue Shuwen had always been bold with her words, and she just shouted from behind, ”There’s no one on this island, you two don’t need to rush back. Before dinner tonight, you can do whatever you want, okay? We’re very tactful, we won’t disturb you!”

Hearing that, Wu Jun’s steps stumbled for a moment, while Su Qingqing’s face flushed bright red. She turned back to glare at Yue Shuwen, furious and embarrassed.

Beside them, Qibao and Tongtong looked innocently at Yue Shuwen and curiously asked:

”Sister Shu Wen, what’s Sister Su going to do? Didn’t you say the loser has to be punished? Why can’t we go with them?”

Yue Shuwen smiled with blatant suggestiveness. ”Your Sister Su, mm, she is going to be punished all right. Don’t worry, Brother Wu Jun is the executioner. He’ll punish her very, very harshly. She won’t be able to run away.”

Huo Sining and Bai Yishan both burst out laughing when they heard that, exchanging meaningful looks in Su Qingqing’s direction, while Su Jinyuan and Gu Xu stood there with metaphorical black lines on their faces, upgrading their understanding of just how pervy this woman Yue Shuwen could be.

Su Qingqing was practically choking with rage. She stomped her foot, then took off, covering three steps in two as she ran off into the distance.

On this side, everyone chatted and joked as they organized everything they’d eat for dinner. Gu Xu and Su Jinyuan even hauled down a few pots and barbecue grills, treating the island like a temporary field kitchen camp.

By evening the tide started to rise. Luckily the weather was decent. As dusk fell and the sky dimmed, it was still a deep blue. With a big bonfire in the middle, the group didn’t feel cold at all.

But by almost six o’clock, there was still no sign of Wu Jun and Su Qingqing. Huo Sining and Gu Xu gradually felt that something wasn’t quite right and unconsciously knitted their brows.

Yue Shuwen also sensed something odd and couldn’t help muttering under her breath, ”They’ve been gone nearly four hours now, right? Those two better not really have gone off to have a wild quickie in the bushes...”
