Reborn As Super Heiress

When Jiang Chao heard Huo Sining’s words, he was immediately overwhelmed with surprise, looking at Huo Sining with expectation and trepidation:

”This...Professor inviting you to dinner, is it appropriate for me to go?”

Huo Sining laughed and said, ”There’s nothing inappropriate about it, it’s just a meal, you don’t need to be nervous. Besides, I guess this dinner is related to the Orchid Exhibition. Just take your potted orchid over, let them have a look and make an impression. It’ll definitely be beneficial to your grad school entrance exams.”

Jiang Chao certainly understood the importance of knowing your advisor beforehand for graduate exams. If the interviewer recognizes you during the interview, at the very least, you’ll make a better first impression than others, which surely gives you an advantage with scores.

Moreover, from what she knew, several girls in her dorm preparing for grad school had already secured mentors and established good relationships. But she, due to her mother’s recent hospitalization and her family’s circumstances, hadn’t had the spare mental energy for these things.

Jiang Chao felt very grateful to Huo Sining, even though she was still somewhat nervous about the upcoming dinner with Professor Chen, she nodded and agreed.

The two of them didn’t pay any attention to Zhou Mei and Wu Linger and planned to leave, but before they took two steps, Wu Linger sharply shouted from behind:

”Stop!”

Huo Sining turned around and looked at Wu Linger indifferently, ”Is there a problem?”

Wu Linger’s expression was a mix of anger and reluctance, her gaze fixed on the orchid Jiang Chao was holding, questioning:

”Jiang Chao, don’t forget, we already agreed in the post, you were supposed to sell me this flower! Now you’re just leaving, is that appropriate?”

Jiang Chao was still a student and inexperienced in these matters, but she wasn’t foolish. Hearing Wu Linger’s words, she knew Wu Linger realized the orchid was an Xishu Daoguang and regretted it.

”Didn’t you accuse me of being a fraud? You even called the police earlier. I think you’ll have to explain to them when they arrive. I did agree to sell you this flower before, but since you accused me of extortion, what else is there to discuss? It’s not my fault you couldn’t recognize its value!”

Wu Linger, humiliated by Jiang Chao’s unyielding sarcasm, was visibly upset. While she wanted to simply walk away, her desire for the orchid prevailed. She had to suppress her anger and continued with Jiang Chao:

”I didn’t look carefully before and misunderstood you. Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, I still want to buy this flower. Isn’t it unreasonable for you to sell it to someone else without even asking my opinion?”

Jiang Chao wanted to argue further, but Huo Sining couldn’t help but interject:

”Miss Wu, you’ve misunderstood something. This orchid isn’t being sold to me; I’m just managing it on Jiang Senior’s behalf. I only invited her to bring it to the Orchid Exhibition. Whether she chooses to sell it is up to her. She’s the owner, and none of us have the right to make that decision for her.”

”But judging by your tone, Miss Wu, you seem determined to get this orchid. What price are you offering to buy it?”

Huo Sining calmly looked at Wu Linger.

Wu Linger snorted coldly, arrogantly raising her chin at Jiang Chao:

”You said yourself, it’s something your mom dug up in the mountains, so it didn’t cost you much. I had originally agreed on a price of one hundred thousand in the post, but since it’s an Xishu Daoguang variety, and acknowledging we’re from the same school, let’s do this, I’ll raise the offer to fifty thousand and buy this orchid!”

Wu Linger’s tone was so dismissive that those around couldn’t help but gasp, looking at her and Zhou Mei in astonishment.

Huo Sining and Jiang Chao were similarly stunned, shocked at the audacity of Wu Linger’s words!

In earlier years when Wu Linger pursued Su Jinyuan, Huo Sining had seen the extent of Wu Linger’s ridiculousness, but she thought that was her limit. Only now did she realize Wu Linger’s lack of intelligence and integrity had no bounds!

”Are you stupid?” Huo Sining looked at Wu Linger as if she was looking at an idiot, ”Fifty thousand? Are you trying to dismiss a beggar?”

Wu Linger was infuriated, ”How can you talk like that? Fifty thousand isn’t enough? Her mom casually dug it up in the mountains and can earn fifty thousand, isn’t that enough? We originally agreed on ten thousand to buy it!”

Huo Sining laughed in anger, ”Ten thousand is correct, but you didn’t even realize what the orchid was back then, and even so, you refused to buy at the cheap price.”

”As the saying goes, once you miss the village, there’s no store. If your ears are working fine, you should’ve just heard it. This orchid is an Xishu Daoguang variety, and I’m offering three hundred thousand. If it were brought to the International Orchid Exhibition, the price would only go higher.”

”For such a premium orchid, you want to buy it for fifty thousand and turn around to earn millions. Do you think you’re clever, or are you treating everyone else as fools?”

Thoroughly disrupted by Huo Sining’s remarks and hearing the surrounding crowd’s comments, Wu Linger was naturally angry and couldn’t help herself:

”What business is it of yours? This is a matter between Jiang Chao and me, why but in? Jiang Chao, I’m asking you, are you selling for fifty thousand or not?!”

Seeing Wu Linger glaring maliciously at Jiang Chao and even containing threats in her tone, Huo Sining, who had been watching the spectacle, finally looked serious:

”A failed deal doesn’t mean there’s no friendship. What’s this about threatening someone because they don’t want to sell to you cheaply?”

Wu Linger was furious, ”So what? Jiang Chao, don’t forget, your mom is still in the hospital! The head of the department treating your mom is my uncle. Do you believe I can have her bed revoked immediately?!”

As soon as Jiang Chao heard Wu Linger’s words, her face turned pale, her entire body trembled uncontrollably, stuttering as if to speak but biting her lip in refusal to give in.

Huo Sining was utterly infuriated. She had met shameless people before, but never someone as brazen as Wu Linger. Being simply naive isn’t an issue, but being both foolish and malicious exceeded Huo Sining’s tolerance.

Instinctively, she turned to Jiang Chao and asked, ”Senior Jiang, which hospital is Auntie staying in?”

Jiang Chao gave Huo Sining a puzzled look and hesitated before quietly answering, ”Tongren Hospital, the one near our school.”

Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile upon hearing ”Tongren Hospital”—what a coincidence indeed.
