Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining’s face changed drastically upon hearing this; she immediately understood the implication behind Oil Rat’s words.

”You guys went to rob Luofu Mountain?!”

Oil Rat looked a bit guilty and sheepish. After all, he had promised Huo Sining that he would clean his hands after being rescued from the underground labyrinth in the Miao Village. But in reality, he had broken that vow and was caught by Huo Sining once again.

But with things at this point, Oil Rat knew that if he didn’t confess honestly, the situation might be worse than he expected. So, he bit the bullet and nodded, saying:

”Yes, in fact, before I went tomb raiding in the underground labyrinth with Gao Yuyuan and Fujiwara Seiho, I had assessed several other places. Yunling Ancient Tomb and Luofu Mountain were projects scouted by me and my partner.”

”Originally, we had already signed an agreement with Gao Yuyuan and Fujiwara Seiho that after taking them to the underground labyrinth in Miao Village, we would head to Luofu Mountain. But no one anticipated the trouble in Miao Village.”

”Because Gao Yuyuan and Fujiwara Seiho met with trouble, we didn’t receive the commission we had previously agreed upon.”

”I had no choice in the matter, as you know, because of the issue with the Hunan Province Museum. I was tracked by the police for more than a year and my house was seized. If I didn’t think of a way to get some money, I’d probably starve.”

”I had already planned that it would be my last shot, so together with my partner, we risked going into Luofu Mountain. We didn’t dare stay long inside; we grabbed one item and hurriedly withdrew.”

”The Medicine King Cauldron was just hidden in the Auricle Chamber; we didn’t even enter the main tomb. Thinking that just this one item could fetch a decent price, we didn’t dare be greedy and returned with the cauldron.”

”Afterwards, we hid for several months before finally finding a way to sell this thing. Of course, we were overjoyed, eager to pass off this hot potato. Who knew there was a trick?”

Huo Sining frowned internally; she only believed half of what Oil Rat said. But now wasn’t the time to question whether this guy actually entered the main tomb or how many items he stole. She was more interested in why the double-crossing individual wanted to capture Oil Rat and his partner.

Normally, if someone saw the Medicine King Cauldron and became greedy, they would at most ditch Oil Rat and his partner and take the item. There was no need to forcibly control them and use torture, which seemed excessive.

So, Huo Sining looked at Oil Rat and directly asked:

”Why did this person capture you? What he wanted probably wasn’t the Medicine King Cauldron, right?”

Oil Rat looked up in surprise at Huo Sining, seemingly not expecting this young girl, though not very old, to have such a meticulous mind and quickly spot the crucial point.

”You’re right; this person’s goal wasn’t the Medicine King Cauldron but the Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb.”

”My partner and I acted extremely low-key to avoid attracting the attention of the police, so we were careful when contacting buyers, going through familiar people. But unexpectedly, the Medicine King Cauldron betrayed our whereabouts.”

”The person buying the Medicine King Cauldron from us was Fujiwara Seiho’s man. This person was evidently very familiar with Immortal Geezer Ge Hong’s story, recognized the origins of the Medicine King Cauldron at a glance, and speculated that my partner and I had been to Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb.”

”So this person pretended to be a buyer of the cauldron and arranged a sea transaction. Once we took the bait, he directly controlled us and revealed his true colors.”

”They seem to be from Iga-ryu Ninja lineage, acting extremely ruthlessly, executing all sorts of torture on us to ask about the entrance to the Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb.”

”Back when I interacted with Fujiwara Seiho, I witnessed his ruthless killing style. I knew he wasn’t a good guy; I thought he died and considered the agreement void. I wouldn’t have to deal with him again. But unexpectedly, after narrowly escaping death, his subordinates stuck to me again. These damn Dongyang bastards—they’re pests, haunting even beyond death, not planning to let me go!”

Upon hearing Oil Rat’s gnashing threats and curses, Huo Sining felt amused and exasperated, unable to help telling him:

”You’re wrong. That Dongyang guy isn’t dead. I saw him in Philadelphia a year ago!”

Oil Rat was taken aback by this, his eyes widening in disbelief as he looked at Huo Sining: ”Impossible! The underground labyrinth was so flooded, how could he survive? Did you mistake someone else?”

Huo Sining coldly laughed: ”The underground labyrinth was indeed flattened, but didn’t you also survive? How can you be sure that since you escaped death, he must have drowned?”

Oil Rat paused, as if realizing something, nodding repeatedly: ”That’s right! I wondered why that damn Iga-ryu Ninja was so sure my Medicine King Cauldron came from Luofu Mountain. Turns out it’s because Fujiwara Seiho isn’t dead!”

”So that’s it; now it makes sense. Back then, when signing the agreement with Fujiwara Seiho and Gao Yuyuan, we mentioned the situation with Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb. He knew the tomb might contain Ge Hong’s remains, so seeing me with the Medicine King Cauldron, guessing I went to Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb wasn’t strange.”

”Damn, I misunderstood everything from the start. That Dongyang fool isn’t dead. He wants me to reveal the Luofu Mountain Ancient Tomb’s entrance, to then take all the grave goods from the main tomb himself. So greedy, even wanting to ditch me. Crazy, stealing from Huaxia Country’s ancient tombs and being so greedy? He’s dreaming!”

Huo Sining chuckled: ”People are dreaming well, aren’t they? If not for the trouble in Miao Village, would you have willingly given up that high commission and ditched him? The agreement was signed; surely you would’ve gladly led him to loot the treasures handed down by our ancestors? This time, if you hadn’t been double-crossed, you’d probably be sold and still counting their money!”

Being directly rebutted by Huo Sining, Oil Rat’s indignant expression halted, awkwardly scratching the back of his head and lowering it in shame.
