Reborn As Super Heiress

With their own little cabbage being rooted up by a pig, it wasn’t just Su Jinyuan—even Su Zhenhua had a dark expression on his face. Only Huang Hongying, after hearing that Wu Jun’s proposal to Su Qingqing had succeeded, immediately had Auntie at home organize a big table of good dishes, and she also called over the couples Huo Sining and Gu Xu, Xie Daoyuan and his wife, plus Wu Ya, so everyone could have a casual meal together.

Because of Secretary Su’s status, the Su Family didn’t bother with any formalities. Knowing that both of Wu Jun’s parents had already passed away and there was no one to organize these things for him, they didn’t nitpick about betrothal gifts either. They simply treated this family-style meal as an unofficial engagement banquet. During the meal, Su Zhenhua and Xie Daoyuan spoke to the two of them with the tone of experienced elders, reminding them of a few things, and that was that.

On the women’s side, Huang Hongying and Gan Lijun, the two elder ladies, couldn’t wait to pull out the old almanac. They picked out several auspicious days for marriage and then had Su Qingqing and Wu Jun set a wedding date, with a clear air of wanting to nail everything down right away.

Off to the side, father and son, Su Zhenhua and Su Jinyuan, both had equally black faces, but were furious without daring to speak up. After all, the one acting on her own initiative was their own wife (mother). If they voiced any objections, they’d definitely get cursed out till their heads spun. So the two Su Family men could only exchange a look, then unhappily glare at the foolishly grinning Wu Jun off to the side, very much with a ”we’ll settle this with you after the harvest” vibe.

Wu Jun, however, was totally immersed in the joy of having his future mother-in-law’s godlike assistance, completely unaware of the danger looming over him. So during this dinner, he was toasted round after round by his future father-in-law and future brother-in-law. They drank him until the sky spun and the earth turned, his five viscera confused and his six senses scrambled; he couldn’t even tell east from west, north from south.

Watching from the side, Huo Sining and Gu Xu found it all hilarious, but they didn’t speak up to stop it. If he couldn’t even withstand this little test, then Wu Jun really didn’t have much qualification to ”steal away” the precious little cotton-padded jacket someone had raised for over twenty years.

No one knew exactly how much the men ended up drinking; in any case, by the end, other than Gu Xu, all the rest were sprawled out. Wu Jun was especially drunk, like a puddle of mud, clinging to Gu Xu and giggling nonstop:

”Captain... hehe... I’m going to get married too... My mom and dad must be really happy... From now on, I’m not alone anymore...”

Gu Xu stayed silent, only lifting his hand to lightly pat Wu Jun’s shoulder. Huo Sining had read Wu Jun’s personal file, and he’d been following her all these years, so she basically knew everything about his family. She understood what he was feeling right now, and couldn’t help a sour ache rising in her own chest.

Thinking back to the first time they met—this top ace in Falcon, the Soldier King admired by countless people, working as a dock laborer—then comparing him to the way this former soldier was now, brimming with ambition and high spirits, Huo Sining felt happy for him from the bottom of her heart.

After a good night’s sleep, early the next morning, before Huo Sining and Gu Xu had even gotten up, urgent knocking sounded at the door, accompanied by shouts that grew louder with each call:

”Ningning, get up, time to head out to sea! When are we leaving?”

Huo Sining had no choice but to slowly crawl out of bed. When she opened the door, she saw four or five little radish heads standing outside. Tongtong, Niuniu, and Qibao were all craning their necks, staring at her with anxious faces. Even a few steps away, Zhong Xiaoyao was holding baby Miaomiao in her arms, smiling at her. Clearly they were all very excited about going out to sea.

Well, so much for going back to sleep. Having just fed Yuanyuan and feeling drowsy, Huo Sining could only irritably rake her fingers through her hair a few times, resign herself, and start washing up and getting ready.

What surprised her was that the thoroughly drunk-out-of-his-mind Wu Jun from last night was now sitting properly in the living room. Su Qingqing and Wu Ya had also packed their change of clothes and come downstairs to their building. Counting it up, she and Gu Xu had actually gotten up the latest.

Huo Sining was speechless, thinking to herself: isn’t it just one trip out to sea? Do these people really need to be this excited?

But she didn’t stop to think that the last time they’d gone out to sea as a group was back when she first met Zheng Huaqing, going out together with Ouyang Jun, Qin Tian, and the rest. After that, although Huo Sining had gone out to sea many times, it was almost always solo action. She really hadn’t gone out with this many buddies all at once.

For her, it was easy—she could just slip into any river or sea and travel freely, no preparation needed. But that didn’t work for the others; they didn’t have her kind of convenient conditions. It was rare to have a chance like this, when they could ignore work and study and run out to play on the sea without restraint. How could they not be excited?

After breakfast, Su Jinyuan and Bai Yishan drove an off-road vehicle over to the lakeside villa. Everyone else had also packed up and gotten ready. Together with Gu Xu and Wu Jun, each driving an off-road vehicle, the whole group set off in grand style toward Hongqiao Seaport, where the yacht was moored.

When they arrived at the seaport, staff from the yacht rental company were already waiting. After completing the handover, the group went straight aboard.

Wu Jun and Gu Xu were both experts at piloting yachts, and Su Jinyuan also had a license, so they didn’t bother hiring a captain. Their own people took the helm, which meant there wasn’t a single outsider on board—much more convenient that way.

By around ten o’clock, all the procedures were done. Amid cheers from the little buddies, Gu Xu started up the engines first, steering the yacht toward their set destination.

It was a medium-sized private yacht with a fairly large upper deck that could hold more than twenty people. At the bow there were sunbeds for tanning. The lower level had eight cabins and a large living room, fully furnished with sofas, a TV, and everything else you’d expect. Down in the hold there was ample fuel, water, and food stocked up, with enough range to stay at sea for three days—perfect for offshore parties.

This kind of yacht had a powerful engine and cruised fast on the open sea, basically able to leave the territorial waters and enter the high seas in about an hour.

But a yacht like this couldn’t keep up top speed the whole time, and Gu Xu and the others hadn’t planned to go too far anyway. They just wanted to find an uninhabited island or beach in the East Sea area to play on, then pick a beautiful trench to do some diving, find a spot with warm-water fish schools to go fishing, use the fish-school sonar to net a catch or two, and throw a barbecue party in the evening. That pretty much filled up a two-days-one-night schedule.

The plan was quite good, and nobody had any objections. The yacht glided smoothly over the sea. After passing who knew how many islands, they soon arrived near a lush, deserted green island.

This island was also one recommended by the yacht rental company. These rental outfits deal every day with customers going out to sea for fun, so they have a thorough grasp of the islands around the Yellow Sea. After hearing about Huo Sining and the others’ travel plans, they’d already provided three sets of coordinates for nearshore islands they could choose from.
