Reborn As Super Heiress

Huo Sining’s words made Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun both feel quite embarrassed.

In fact, Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun did have the idea of asking Huo Sining for a bit of sponsorship, but considering their close relationship with her, it was hard to bring up.

Chen Qiankun is a person who cares about face, and he would never be able to speak up when it comes to asking for money.

Yan Xuesong felt that since they want to invite Huo Sining to join the project and also have her provide funding, it seemed like they were using her, which would be fine if she didn’t misunderstand, but if she did, they might have a falling out, which would be ugly. So he never mentioned it.

If it weren’t for the fact that their funding had been burnt through too much recently, they probably wouldn’t have actively called and organized a meal to invite Huo Sining. With no other choice, they were out of money, and if the project continued like this, they would burn through their underwear and still wouldn’t have results, so they could only thicken their faces to seek Huo Sining’s help.

Unexpectedly, this meal actually brought them a surprise, letting them encounter a great sample that’s a rare find, saving them a lot of time.

Of course, Huo Sining knew that scientific research is not easy, so she was very supportive of Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun’s research project, even though she hadn’t asked about the project’s specifics. She knew that with these two old men’s skills, if they decided to fiddle with something extraordinary, it would definitely be a project that would shock both inside and outside the circle. Otherwise, they wouldn’t take action.

”It’s just that we don’t want you to think we’re two old men who are swindlers out to cheat money and gain fame. You have money, but Old Chen and I are friends with you for your skills, not your money.”

”As for when you tricked Zhao Guotian by saying you have a friend who’s a Master of Flower Attendance, we don’t believe it. Of course, that’s your privacy, and you have the right to keep your secrets without saying anything. Old Chen and I won’t ask, but we still hope you can join this project.”

”Don’t rush to refuse. We won’t set some messy conditions to limit you. After joining this project, you don’t need to follow up anytime. Old Chen and I know you’re busy, so when we’re at a bottleneck in research, you just need to help take a look or lend a hand when necessary. We’ll also add your name to the research results, so you don’t need to worry.”

Yan Xuesong said a lot in one breath, fearing that Huo Sining might refuse, and also afraid she might overthink and assume he’s after her money.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but laugh. In the past, she heard that Professor Yan was an old-fashioned person who cherished his reputation, and now it’s true. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so cautious, even outlining her scope of work after joining the project, clearly afraid she might misunderstand.

”Old Yan, you really don’t need to be so nervous. I know what kind of person you are. If you were some kind of chameleon who tricks research funding, I wouldn’t be so friendly with you. Everyone in the academy knows that you and Professor Chen are famous for being incorruptible.”

”There’s no need to elaborate on this. As I said, regardless of whether I participate in the project or not, I’ll cover your research funding, providing it unconditionally and without any terms.”

”Additionally, I don’t mind joining the project, but there’s no need for my name to be on it. I’ll just follow you two to fight monsters and level up, earning some experience. It’s not reasonable for me, an unknown little girl who hasn’t graduated, to take up a name spot. Besides, I’ve already experienced the burden of fame enough, so please spare me from sticking out in this way.”

Huo Sining waved her hands in surrender, looking quite comical. Yan Xuesong and Chen Qiankun, having read all sorts of gossip and rumors about Huo Sining, obviously understood when she gained fame, the praises and criticisms came one after another. Seeing the attitude of the person involved now, it was immediately clear why Huo Sining didn’t want to be named. The two exchanged a look and couldn’t help but laugh.

As the saying goes, fame should come early, and now many young people are wracking their brains to become famous, some even resorting to unscrupulous means, using all kinds of vulgar and nasty ways.

But these people don’t know that sometimes it’s hard to live up to a great reputation. Some are desperately trying to get into the citadel, while others inside the citadel are troubled by their fame, wishing they never became famous.

Clearly, Huo Sining is the latter. She now feels that it’s better to be an ordinary person, so she wouldn’t have so many media reporters and paparazzi constantly tracking her, trying to capture some of her private life.

Those major media magazines and newspapers are relatively better, at least they are still truthful and only do exclusive interviews, with reports considered positive;

However, those tabloids are somewhat filthy. To grab eyeballs, many not only use all sorts of vulgar and thrilling titles but some also fabricate baseless news, on one hand, trying to portray Huo Sining as a scheming girl willing to do anything to marry into a wealthy family; on the other hand, they write stories with pictures, taking a couple of blurry photos to assert that Huo Sining looks haggard, suspected to be kicked out of a wealthy family due to a marriage change.

Such news made Huo Sining laugh and cry, but there was nothing she could do.

Gu Xu, upon knowing this, had once burst out and quietly dealt with several newspapers and magazines.

However, it’s better to guide instead of blocking, as the public loves these gossip stories, and the media is driven by eyeball-catching news, pursuing whatever draws attention, unconcerned with lawsuits or warnings.

After all, Huaxia Country is so vast, and such small tabloids and magazines are countless, impossible to capture them all. You warn or sue one today, tomorrow others will spring up, constantly entangled with these low-level media, wasting effort without any benefit and utterly unnecessary.

Moreover, if she really created some big news about suing the media, those media would probably become more excited, jumping even more ecstatically, and fans might even think she’s guilty.

Thinking along these lines, both Huo Sining and Gu Xu calmed down.

With too many lice, the itch isn’t bothersome; she lived her life, letting those media talk, she knows well whether her life is good or not. What they say isn’t true, and over time, people will understand, without the need for her to clarify deliberately.

However, because of these annoying paparazzi, Huo Sining adopted a principle that in the future she should act more low-key, avoiding the spotlight whenever possible, evading its sharpness and preserving her peace, as constant media interviews and reports are truly disturbing her tranquility.
