Reborn As Super Heiress

The newborn baby’s skin is tender and its bones are all soft. As soon as Gu Xu held it, he didn’t know where to put his hands and feet, fearing that a slight mishap might crush the little one’s bones.

However, the moment he held his daughter in his arms, his entire heart became soft as if soaked in honey. His whole body felt limp and he gazed at the little one in front of him, his eyes full of indulgence and tenderness.

After a flurry of activity, he finally managed to change the diaper. During this time, the little one was woken up and cried with discontent, even peeing on her dad’s face, but finished with a toothless grin towards him.

Gu Xu felt that the job of being a new dad had a long way to go. Even changing a diaper was more difficult than any mission he had undertaken. By the end of it, he was drenched in sweat.

Ouyang Jun, watching Gu Xu’s super dad practice, couldn’t help but tease, ”Isn’t this past life’s little sweetheart hard to serve?”

Gu Xu gave Ouyang Jun a sidelong glance and sneered, ”What, do you want to give it a try? You better hurry up, don’t wait until my daughter is old enough to buy soy sauce before you even get started!”

Ouyang Jun raised his chin proudly, ”Tch, do you think I’m such a procrastinator? Just wait for my Ouyang family to raise a daughter! Once my son comes out, he’ll directly whisk your daughter to my house!”

This made Gu Xu angry, ”Keep dreaming, my daughter is my decision. Even if you have a son, he would have to be an in-law in my house. There’s no way to steal my daughter away!”

Ouyang Jun laughed coldly, ”Hey, let’s wait and see!”

Huo Sining listened with a forehead full of black lines, wondering what on earth was going on. Ever since she gave birth, Ouyang Jun, Song Hui, and Qin Tian had eagerly crowded around, competing to be the godfather. She thought they wanted kids and kept urging them to get married and tackle life’s big events.

At thirty, these guys were about the same age as Gu Xu, all in their thirties, it was indeed time to marry and have kids, so Huo Sining didn’t think much of it.

Now that Ouyang Jun revealed it, she finally understood that they wanted to snatch away her daughter to be their daughters-in-law! Just unbelievable! These guys haven’t even seen the shadow of a child yet, and they’re already pre-booking daughters-in-law?

Though, it’s not surprising. Not only are the Gu Family and the other three families closely connected, they’re in the same circle, and all are aristocratic families with no one looking down on another. Moreover, in the Imperial Capital, there’s a popular saying that a woman three years older is like a gold brick. Although they haven’t had children yet, it’s only a matter of years, so early reservation isn’t out of the question.

However, Huo Sining didn’t quite agree with marrying into similar social status. Her marriage with Gu Xu wasn’t about matching families either, so she didn’t wish her daughter to follow a path of arranged marriages. Firstly, she felt it’s beneath her, and secondly, there was no need.

Huo Sining’s daughter just needs to live healthily and freely, without being entangled with these aristocratic families.

Not to mention the current wealth of the Gu Family, even Huo Sining herself can earn a substantial inheritance for her daughter. Even if the little one doesn’t inherit any of Huo Sining’s talents, with her background, it’s others who would gather to support her, not the other way around.

The Gu Family doesn’t need her to sacrifice marriage to consolidate power or status. Neither she nor Gu Xu need to trade their lifelong happiness for benefits.

With these thoughts in mind, Gu Xu should understand even without Huo Sining saying it. His banter with Ouyang Jun is just a joke, so Huo Sining didn’t take it seriously.

In her view, if her daughter grows up and indeed develops feelings with Ouyang Jun’s, Song Hui’s, or Qin Tian’s sons, she’d approve. After all, the families’ connections are there, and her daughter won’t suffer in those families. But she would never deliberately encourage or guide her child. Matters of the heart are better left to fate.

Huo Sining has only been postpartum for a few days, so even with Azure Pearl’s protection, it’s best she rests more. After some time, everyone leaves the room.

Once the room was empty, the little gem that had been hiding finally popped out.

Huo Sining lifted her eyes to look at it and said quietly, ”Been wild outside for so long, and now you’re finally back?”

The little gem hesitated in front of Huo Sining, seemingly wanting to be close but sensing something off in her mood.

The little one, though young, knew it was wrong to run off sneakily with dad this time. It could feel its mother was annoyed, and though usually unruly, it now felt timid and didn’t dare step closer.

Seeing its pitiable appearance, Huo Sining softened, feeling both amused and frustrated, she couldn’t help but tap the blue chubby head and said in mock anger:

”Scared now? You ran off with your dad without a word, you know how worried I was? If you want to play, at least let me know so I won’t worry! I’m warning you, try running away silently like that again and see if I won’t lock you in the little dark room!”

Once it heard ”little dark room,” its chubby little egg body shivered involuntarily.

The so-called little dark room is Huo Sining’s ring’s Space. Once before, this little fatty got into a quarrel with Niuniu fighting over pool usage, almost flipping the house. When Huo Sining’s mediation failed, in anger she tossed the two into the Space.

That Space in the ring is made of some unknown material. Time inside is still, but it seemed to have side effects on the Jiaoren.

After being tossed into the Space, the two felt immobilized, sensory-deprived, but their minds were clear, sensing they entered a void-like dimension, feeling anxious and powerless, a deeply memorable experience.

So when Huo Sining mentioned the little dark room, the little gem shivered in fear, hastily shaking its head and pledging to never repeat the mistake.
