Reborn As Super Heiress

”What are you two talking about?”

Matthew was completely lost in the clouds and finally couldn’t help asking.

Huo Sining and Windsor Reed exchanged a look, and both of them couldn’t help showing a strange smile; their expressions turned rather odd.

The more they put on this air of mystery, the more curious Matthew became. Seeing Windsor Reed being secretive, Matthew turned pitiful eyes toward Huo Sining.

Huo Sining shrugged and said, ”Alright. Just now, after I went down and checked that newly dug diamond vein, I noticed something on the rock wall and came up with another hypothesis. So just now I discussed it with Mr. Earl and we decided to change the plan. Captain Matthew, gather the miners as soon as you can. After I inspect these few locations tomorrow, I estimate that next, we’re going to go all out.”

Matthew froze at that: ”Go all out? We’ve got plenty of people. For that mine tunnel, these guys are more than enough!”

Huo Sining smiled. ”Not enough—definitely not enough for what’s coming. Because we’re planning to open five more mine shafts. Once we have six pits producing at the same time, this little manpower of yours won’t even be enough to fill the gaps between our teeth!”

”Six pits producing at the same time?!”

Matthew was instantly stupefied. He subconsciously raised his head to look at Huo Sining and Windsor Reed, as if to ask whether he’d misheard.

Windsor Reed spoke up beside him: ”You didn’t mishear. It really is six pits. Don’t ask anything extra for now. What you need to do is hurry up and gather your men. Call over all those mining crews you’re familiar with whose skills are relatively high. There’s no such thing as too many people, but absolutely no dead weight.”

Matthew nodded. His heart was full of confusion, but since the boss had said so, it wasn’t his place to ask too much. After all, he wasn’t the one paying. No matter how much he said, the person making the decisions was still the boss.

Matthew’s head was a bit muddled at this point. He knew what Huo Sining was capable of. He’d seen the situation in that tunnel clearly just now—there was already a full weathering zone in there. Anyone normal would have thought there was no hope left. But once this woman made a move, she brought that tunnel back from the dead.

A woman with this kind of heaven-defying ability would never talk nonsense or shoot arrows in the dark. If she said they were going to open six pits, she definitely had her own purpose and reasoning.

But no matter how Matthew turned it over in his mind, he just couldn’t figure out what medicine the two of them were selling in their gourd. His head started to ache from thinking. He could only shake his head and set it aside for now, then pick up his phone and head out.

Seeing Matthew go out, Windsor Reed knew he was going to contact the other mining crews. Only then did he look at Huo Sining and say solemnly:

”Miss Huo, I have nothing to ask you about the associated ore, but what’s the deal with that weathering zone? Why did such a thick full weathering zone appear in this vein, and yet it didn’t affect that diamond deposit?”

Windsor Reed had been troubled by this question all along. Now that everything else was resolved, he hurriedly voiced the doubt in his heart.

He had a kind of intuition—he kept feeling that Huo Sining definitely knew the reason why this weathering zone hadn’t destroyed the vein, so he was extremely curious and very much wanted Huo Sining to clear it up for him.

”Mr. Earl, you may have misunderstood one thing. That weathering zone did not ’fail’ to affect the diamonds in this mountain range. At the very least, in the tunnel you’ve dug now, there’s nothing at all—not even a trace of diamond fragments, right?”

Seeing Windsor Reed stunned there, Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile. She pointed at the map in her hand and suddenly dragged a fingernail horizontally across the mountain range, directly cutting the range into two halves.

”You should have noticed that when Captain Matthew and the others dug that fifty-meter drift just now, in the middle they hit a special rock layer more than thirty meters thick.”

Windsor Reed suddenly raised his head. ”You mean this has something to do with that special rock layer?”

Huo Sining nodded. ”That’s right. A full weathering zone will definitely affect the entire vein. But in this mountain range, there happens to be a section that formed a special hard rock layer. This layer is harder than all the other rock layers in this mountain body, so the full weathering zone was naturally shielded to the left side of the range by that rock layer.”

”Originally, this entire area of the range should have been all diamond-bearing ground. But the full weathering zone had a huge impact—on the left side of the range, all those diamond deposits were shaken to powder. That’s why, when you were excavating this tunnel, you didn’t even dig up diamond grit.”

”Whereas in the area to the right of this special rock layer, the situation is exactly the opposite. Because that section of rock acted as a natural screen and provided protection, the diamond deposits on the right side of the range remained completely intact and were successfully preserved.”

”This area here is the block I’ve marked on the map. But as for how large this stroke-of-luck preserved vein really is, that’s entirely up to fortune. However, looking at the trend of the terrain in this part of the range, the probability of it being a super-large vein is quite high. That’s why I asked whether Mr. Earl was willing to gamble once with me.”

Windsor Reed stared at Huo Sining, eyes burning. ”No wonder that whole full weathering zone is so brittle, yet still so intact—it hasn’t been eroded or collapsed by any natural disaster. Is that also because that natural rock barrier acted as protection, allowing that fragile weathering zone to remain instead of completely disappearing?”

Huo Sining nodded again. ”In theory, that’s how it works. But there must be other factors involved as well. It’s just that our focus right now is on the diamond vein. How exactly this weathering zone was preserved isn’t our main concern.”

Windsor Reed very much agreed with this. He was a businessman, so naturally he cared more about money. Coming here to mine, he certainly didn’t want to go back with a loss. Still, because of the peculiar existence of this weathering zone, the first instant he saw it, he’d been completely stunned. At that time, he felt like the sky was collapsing and could never have imagined that a few hours later he’d be sitting here in the office, drinking tea so leisurely, with not a shred of despair—only excitement and secret delight.

”Earlier Captain Matthew said that this section of the Malad Mountains belongs to the edge of the Mainland plate, which must be an area where earthquake and volcanic belts frequently occur. So before the plate formed, there must have been more than one episode of violent crustal movement here.”

”So I think that special rock layer and this weathering zone were both carried here from other mountain bodies back then, then squeezed and formed into their current shape.”
