Reborn As Super Heiress

”Weathering zone? Wasn’t this caused by the explosives those drug dealers used before? Those guys placed quite a few explosives in this mine, could this disjointed rock layer be caused by explosives?”

”Yeah, the explosives shattered so many rocks a few days ago; could it be the explosives that caused the rock layer to fracture?”

The miners following behind had also learned from Matthew about the weathering zone. These miners followed the captain’s command but were not as skilled at determining rock layer directions. Seeing Matthew and Windsor Reed with somber expressions, they were unaware of how dangerous the weathering zone could be. Instead, they gathered and whispered to each other.

Hearing the mention of explosives, Windsor Reed paused, his eyes lighting up, holding on to a sliver of hope as he looked at Huo Sining, ”Huo S—Lina...”

Before finishing ”Miss Huo,” Windsor Reed realized his mistake and immediately corrected himself, though his eyes were still intensely staring at Huo Sining.

No one here understood geomancy better than Huo Sining. This woman had previously helped Nabadasang gamble on a large jadeite mine in Myanmar and had also unearthed a large batch of diamonds in Oregon State. Thus, Windsor Reed had a kind of mysterious trust in her abilities, placing all his hopes on her.

However, his sliver of hope was promptly dashed by a bucket of cold water from Huo Sining the next second.

Huo Sining knew why Windsor Reed called her so anxiously. Although she felt reluctant, she had to break Windsor Reed’s hope:

”It wasn’t caused by explosives; it’s the weathering zone.”

As she spoke, Huo Sining walked over to the rock wall and gestured to Windsor Reed:

”The direction of this weathering zone should penetrate this entire eastern section of the Malad Mountains. At least from here to where we just entered the mine, it extends uninterrupted. What you’ve dug out now is just a small opening along this zone.”

”Miss Lina, is what you said true?”

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Windsor Reed’s face immediately darkened. Before he could speak, Captain Matthew, who was looking pale, couldn’t help but interject.

Clearly, the mining captain doubted Huo Sining’s words somewhat. Although he didn’t ask directly, his gaze clearly questioned how a personal assistant could know about geological surveys. Was she possibly speaking without evidence? Without some basis, how could one speak carelessly? This concerns a business worth billions of US dollars!

Huo Sining understood the implication in Matthew’s eyes. She disdained explaining it to him, but since Windsor Reed had hired her to gamble on this mine, she had to be fully responsible. Besides, according to Windsor Reed’s agreement, she owned a twenty percent stake in this mine, so this project was also hers to an extent.

Thus, in this matter, she couldn’t hide anything; she needed to inform Windsor Reed thoroughly so that her partner could be mentally prepared.

”In fact, Mr. Windsor, when I entered this mine, I already discovered the weathering zone. At the stone wall near the mine entrance, traces are already visible. Dig two feet in from there, and you can see this weathering zone. It’s just that your people didn’t dig any further and missed it.”

”This whole way, this weathering zone extends, forming an intersection with the lines of the stone wall dug by the miners. Hence, the weathering zone got closer to the stone wall, and just here, it was dug out by the miners.”

While explaining, Huo Sining drew two lines on the ground to show the crowd the direction of the weathering zone and the tunnel.

Seeing Huo Sining’s analysis, Captain Matthew wasn’t convinced: ”Miss Lina, do you have any basis for what you’re saying? I think we should get an expert to examine it first.”

Huo Sining smiled without saying a word, while Windsor Reed suddenly interrupted Captain Matthew’s words, saying:

”No need. Miss Lina is a geological expert, with her here, our so-called experts would just be displaying their abysmal knowledge!”

As he spoke, Windsor Reed looked at Huo Sining with difficulty and bitterness and hesitated before asking:

”Huo... Miss Lina, does this mine really have no value for extraction?”

Windsor Reed’s face was full of regret, obviously regretting his impulsiveness. Had he not trusted others easily, he wouldn’t have fallen for someone else’s trap and bought a doomed diamond vein.

He found it suspicious why when he bought this vein, the seller promptly agreed after only two days of negotiation and very swiftly signed a transfer agreement with him.

Thinking back, it was all a setup, a trap specifically set for him, Windsor Reed.

Seeing Windsor Reed’s face turn from pale to flushed, Huo Sining couldn’t help but sigh. While rubbing the stone walls, she said with some pity to Windsor Reed:

”Mr. Windsor, you know my character; I’m always straightforward. This vein encountering such a major weathering zone is rare. After entering this mine tunnel, I truly haven’t detected any trace of diamond ore in these rock layers. Not to mention, at least this area, I estimate, has collapsed. If you don’t want to give it up, I think you should avoid this weathering zone and try to dig another mine tunnel elsewhere.”

Huo Sining’s hand aimlessly touched the stone walls, and under the Heavenly Eye, everything was clear.

Penetrating these stone walls with a maximum radius of fifty to sixty meters, as she slowly scanned through, all she saw were mere rocks with no trace of diamond ore.

Internally, Huo Sining couldn’t help but shake her head. This weathering zone indeed surpassed her expectations, much larger than those hidden in the jadeite mines she had encountered in Myanmar.

The longer and thicker the weathering zone, the greater the intensity of the earthquake, indicating more powerful destruction. After scanning the environment around this stone cave’s wall, her heart sank gradually.

She never expected that her first diamond mine gamble would result in a collapse, and a thorough one at that. Not to mention making profits, in this situation, Windsor Reed shouldn’t even think of recovering his costs!
