Reborn As Super Heiress

No wonder this Tranleva reacted like this. The truth is, he’s been in this position for a long time, and the people he deals with are familiar with his temper, so few dare to confront him like this. Now, this policewoman named Janice actually dared to defy him, which surprised Tranleva quite a bit.

However, beneath the laughter, what preoccupied Tranleva was the safe that had been stolen from him.

He could overlook the loss of antique gold bars, military weapons, or even luxury car engines, but the treasures inside that safe were things he couldn’t let go of, no matter what—it was imperative to get them back.

Therefore, after the laughter subsided, his face darkened instantly as he seriously looked at Janice:

”The hacker that manipulated the video editing did it to confuse the monitor room personnel, Miss Janice, is that what you meant earlier?”

Janice didn’t quite understand why this drug lord was so erratic. She was quite disgusted by Tranleva’s cruel ways and very much reluctant to deal with him, but at this moment, the Deputy Director was watching her coldly from the side, constantly signaling her.

Janice frowned but ultimately decided to compromise. This drug lord didn’t intimidate her, but she dared not ignore her superior’s orders.

”That’s correct. This gang must have planned meticulously and come prepared. Moreover, they needed to carry a Laser Cutting Machine, which is no small equipment itself. Hence, I believe the key point now is to focus on the thieves’ vehicles.”

Janice paused and looked at Tranleva, who nodded in agreement, signaling her to continue.

”I imagine that all of you have seen the situation over at the warehouse. I’ve compiled statistics on the missing items, and not speaking of weight, even the sheer volume is significant. What’s noteworthy is that this gang managed to transport all of the stuff out of the warehouse within a few hours, like ants carrying their load.”

”Regardless of whether the items were transported through the hole cut by the laser or not—which I find implausible—that’s not the main point. The main point is, after transporting these items out, through what channels did they exit the Malad Mountains?”

”Furthermore, applying the principles of trace evidence study, if there were too many thieves, they would have left traces along the way. However, upon our site investigation, we found no fingerprints or footprints that could be used for evidence. This indicates that the number of people involved in this case was not as high as we initially assumed. I believe they did not exceed four individuals.”

”Just four people, including the hacker responsible for breaching the server from outside, there are merely five people.”

”Then comes the question, these five individuals—what kind of extraordinary abilities do they possess to empty such a warehouse within a few short hours and successfully transport everything away? How did they do it?”

Janice glanced at everyone in the room and said, ”Consider this, Mr. Tranleva, if you selected the five most capable people under your command and got them to carry out this task, do you think they could achieve it? Could they execute it so cleanly and flawlessly without alerting your base’s patrol officers?”

Upon hearing Janice’s hypothesis, Tranleva pondered the feasibility of the matter, selecting the handful of people he trusted the most, and inserting them into this scenario, only to realize that this task was fundamentally infeasible.

Tranleva suddenly felt frustrated, lifted his head, and sneered:

”So, Miss Janice, what do you mean? Are you saying this wasn’t done by normal people, but rather by aliens?”

Janice shook her head. ”I don’t mean that. I’m suggesting that rather than searching at the scene like this, we should broaden our thinking and focus the investigation externally. Never mind how they transported the items out—it’s implausible that they walked out of the Sierra Madre Mountains with the stolen goods, right? They must have used vehicles. We’ve checked heavy trucks and found nothing; then let’s check smaller trucks, and if that doesn’t work, include cars. If we still find nothing this way, it can only mean one thing.”

Tranleva was startled and instinctively asked, ”What does that mean?”

Janice smiled, ”There’s a saying that the most dangerous place is the safest. If we find no vehicles, it indicates these people are likely still hiding within the Sierra Madre Mountains. Perhaps they anticipated our investigation and deliberately avoided it by hiding in the deep mountains.”

Tranleva stood startled for a moment, then brightened up, enthusiastically exclaiming, ”Yes, yes, Miss Janice, you’re right! If we can’t find vehicles, it only means one thing—these people are definitely still hiding in the mountains! My stuff is still hidden within the Sierra Madre Mountains!”

Considering his safe might just be stashed somewhere nearby made Tranleva incredibly excited.

The items were personally stored by him, and the safe was custom-built, making it impossible for ordinary people to discover its false bottom, so Tranleva was confident that the thieves had no idea there were other things hidden inside.

If he could rediscover that safe, he could recover what was lost!

A sharp gleam flashed in Tranleva’s eyes, his previously gloomy expression eased up, and he excitedly commanded his subordinates to go out and assist in the search.

It wasn’t long before someone rushed in from outside, reporting a discovery of new car tracks two kilometers from the base.

Upon hearing this information, everyone perked up. Tranleva’s expression froze, and the other detectives looked serious, while Janice frowned and re-verified with the informant:

”Are there tracks from only one vehicle? Are you certain? How deep are the tire tracks, and can the model be identified?”

The informant quickly made a call to a companion guarding the tire tracks, and the feedback soon came. The tracks were from a Nissan off-road vehicle, and the tracks weren’t deep, indicating the vehicle was empty when entering and exiting, not carrying a heavy load.

This fact aroused suspicion. The Sierra Madre Mountains could be described as remote wilderness, surrounded by towering trees and shrubs, akin to a primal jungle, so why would anyone drive here?

But claiming this track as belonging to the gang’s vehicle simply because of the trace would be unfounded. After all, a small off-road vehicle couldn’t possibly accommodate the lost items from the warehouse, and the tire tracks indicated the vehicle wasn’t carrying any significant weight upon departure.
