Reborn As Super Heiress

Although Windsor Reed was already in chaos, his mind was still quick. Upon seeing the look in Huo Sining’s eyes, he immediately understood, nodded, and pulled Huo Sining towards the pile of rubble.

The people in the mining team also knew that Windsor Reed was the owner of this vein, their boss. Seeing Windsor Reed heading to check out the rubble, their expressions immediately became tense, and they urgently said:

”Boss, please don’t go there. If there’s anything, just order us to do it. It’s very dangerous over there, you...”

The captain of the mining team wanted to stop Windsor Reed from approaching, but before he could finish speaking, Windsor Reed’s expression suddenly changed drastically. He turned around with a gloomy face and harshly said to the captain:

”Shut up! Get out of my way. My son is buried in there. You’re asking me to stand back now; can I do that as a father? If it were your son buried in there, could you stay calm?”

The mining team captain was so choked by Windsor Reed’s words that he couldn’t say a single word.

Windsor Reed didn’t care what the miners thought and allowed Huo Sining to lead him towards the pile of rubble.

The miners wanted to follow, but Windsor Reed forcibly kept them ten steps away, not allowing anyone to come closer.

This was also Huo Sining’s intention; she wanted to use the Heavenly Eye to investigate the collapse inside the mine. However, since she was now using Lina Lee’s identity, if she squatted down and touched the rubble, then spoke about the internal situation, those miners would likely suspect her identity.

Therefore, to avoid unnecessary trouble, Huo Sining directly asked Windsor Reed to help cover for her.

Windsor Reed was aware of Huo Sining’s abilities, so he agreed without hesitation.

In his view, finding his son was the priority, and everything else was secondary. Anyway, he was the owner of this vein, and no matter what orders he gave, the miners could at most grumble inwardly but would never suspect or resist him.

As expected, just like Windsor Reed anticipated, because Windsor Reed scolded the miners so sternly earlier, it shocked them all.

So, when Windsor Reed led Huo Sining to the rubble pile, the miners didn’t hold suspicions. They just thought Windsor Reed was bewildered because of his son’s accident.

It was understandable since anyone would be flustered and anxious if their son had an accident. Everyone could empathize, even the mining team captain, who didn’t hold a grudge after being scolded by Windsor Reed, felt sympathy for this England old man instead.

Everyone believed that the miners and the boss’s son being buried underground were very likely met with a tragic fate.

As for Huo Sining, even though the miners found her stunning, they merely glanced a few more times at her. No one doubted Huo Sining’s identity. Such a fine lady must undoubtedly belong to the upper class, a man’s mistress rather than a personal assistant. The miners clearly knew their place, and at most, they would fantasize a bit in private, not daring to think further.

Huo Sining was satisfied with how Windsor Reed handled the situation. Using Windsor Reed as a cover, she crouched down and reached out to touch the pile of rubble before her.

Windsor Reed did not know what Huo Sining was doing, but seeing her actions, he thought for a moment and joined her in squatting down.

”Miss Huo, what are you doing?”

While helping Huo Sining cover, Windsor Reed curiously watched her actions but failed to understand them for a long while. Overcome by curiosity, he couldn’t help but ask.

While utilizing the Heavenly Eye to explore the rubble, Huo Sining distractedly responded:

”This is part of Huaxia’s geomancy. Initially, I used this method to assist the rescue team in Qingya. This is a secret technique from a mysterious sect in Huaxia. It’s quite complicated to explain, but do you know Chinese kung fu?”

Windsor Reed nodded: ”Of course, I know that.”

Unflinching, Huo Sining said: ”My secret technique is akin to Chinese kung fu, which is considered a secret technique. Many kung fu moves have been lost over time, such as the Vajra Finger, Inner Strength, and Qinggong. My geomancy technique, like Qinggong, isn’t to be taught to outsiders. Yet, I’m fortunate that it has been passed down to me without getting lost.”

Hearing Huo Sining’s explanation, Windsor Reed’s eyes lit up, gazing at her with admiration as if she were an extraordinary being, he said:

”Amazing! No wonder you managed to find so many diamonds in Oregon, Miss Huo. With such a secret technique, you must ensure it doesn’t get lost. You have to pass it down well; it’s not just Huaxia Country’s cultural heritage but a gem of intangible world heritage!”

Huo Sining was initially just humoring with some words, not expecting the old man to take her seriously — not only did he believe her but he also praised her profoundly, which made Huo Sining somewhat embarrassed. She couldn’t help but cough twice, her cheeks reddening slightly, and instinctively changed the topic:

”Um, let’s take a look over there. There are no signs of life here, and I can’t smell any blood; the miners shouldn’t be here.”

Windsor Reed nodded, and following Huo Sining’s instructions, they moved to another area.

The miners outside the rubble pile looked at each other, all with bewildered expressions.

No one knew what to do. An incident occurred, causing chaos. They thought everything would be fine as long as the boss arrived, but now that he was here, they remained directionless and unsure.

”What’s the boss doing?”

A few miners who couldn’t understand what Windsor Reed was doing whispered among themselves.

”No idea.”

The group all shook their heads; no one could figure out what Windsor Reed was up to.

Meanwhile, even though Huo Sining was bluffing, her actions were swift. Soon, she detected something unusual within a rubble pile.

Her Heavenly Eye detection could only penetrate a limited distance, but within that range, she discovered a very distinct blood trail, which extended forward indefinitely; it was invisible beyond her Heavenly Eye.

Even though Huo Sining didn’t spot survivors inside, upon seeing that not completely dried blood trail, she was very certain that must be the spot where the miners were buried!
