Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1801: Chapter 1704: Rescuing People from the Raging Waters

”But you can’t go either. There are so many soldiers in the rescue team, they’ll come to save people. Even if you’re a good swimmer, the flood is so fast, you won’t be able to save anyone. You’ll just be swept away!”

The water is so turbulent that no one is a superhero. Jumping in is tantamount to seeking death.

”There’s no time! If we wait for the soldiers, those two children might lose their lives!”

The floodwaters are rising rapidly, soon engulfing the roof of their flat, and the water level at the foot of the hill is climbing bit by bit.

Now, no one dares to talk about going into the water. They can only watch helplessly as the flood rushes downstream.

Lao Wu’s voice chokes up; he slaps his face in self-reproach and curses, ”It’s all my fault. If only I’d been more careful earlier!”

”You can’t blame yourself for this; it’s fate!” Although the villagers feel uneasy, they still try to console him.

However, blaming oneself won’t help the two children escape the flood. Just then, a wave crashes over, directly rushing onto the roof where the two children are, so quickly that everyone fails to react. As they look again, the two children are already gone.

Everything happened so fast. Amidst the crowd crying and lamenting, suddenly, a slender figure emerged from the rescue team. Before anyone in the team figured out what was happening, the figure leapt and jumped into the raging floodwaters.

”Ah—”

”Xiao Huo!”

Fang Zhiming was momentarily dumbfounded, rushing to the shore, but the current was swift. That figure flashed in the water and quickly submerged, disappearing in a blink.

”What happened?”

”Did someone fall in just now?”

”No, no one pushed her. She jumped down herself!”

”What’s going on? Why did she jump in?”

Nobody knew what was happening; even Fang Zhiming’s mind went blank. But soon, he recalled Huo Sining’s words before she dashed out of the crowd.

[Brother Fang, I’m going to save the children. Please keep an eye on my stuff!]

Fang Zhiming thought Huo Sining was joking. He didn’t expect her to break through the crowd and jump into the floodwaters.

Watching the turbulent water, Fang Zhiming felt like he had fallen into an ice cave, his heart sinking slowly.

It all seemed so absurd; how could this be? Despite only knowing her for a few hours, in his interactions with Huo, Fang saw from her words and actions that she was calm and wise. She couldn’t possibly make such an impulsive and foolish move.

But just now, that figure did indeed jump down in front of him in such a flamboyant manner, so quickly that he couldn’t even catch hold.

In that moment, Fang Zhiming felt his mind was like a jumble of paste, unable to think at all.

He could only stare blankly at the rushing water, his body stiff, lips quivering, unable to utter a word.

No one knows how long it was. It might have been just a few minutes or perhaps an eternity. Suddenly, he heard exclamations and shouts:

”Look, that woman, she’s over there!”

Fang Zhiming jolted, quickly raising his head to look in the direction pointed by the villager.

A silhouette appeared at the previous flat, searching quickly on the roof before leaping into the floodwaters again, disappearing in no time.

Seeing this, not just Fang Zhiming, everyone realized what the woman intended.

”My God, she’s going to save those two kids!”

”How did she do it? In such swift water, she managed to swim so fast!”

”Under three minutes, this speed could qualify for the Olympic swimming contests!”

”The two kids aren’t on the roof anymore. They must’ve been swept downstream; this is bad!”

”Let’s hope she finds them!”

Fang Zhiming and Lao Wu kept their eyes glued to the water surface, fearing they might miss any emergency.

But watching like this took nearly ten minutes.

As time dragged on, their hearts sank further.

Everyone knows that in such situations, the longer the delay, the less likely the two children will survive. Even the woman who jumped in would exhaust herself, risking getting swept away.

”Why isn’t she coming up? Did something go wrong?”

”Yeah, if Xiao Huo perishes due to her good heart in saving others, it’d be heartbreaking!”

”Why are the soldiers from the rescue team still not coming? Quickly find them!”

”It’s over; something might go wrong. Even national swimmers can’t manage in such rapid floods for long!”

”How could this happen...”

Everyone watching the flood felt despair, doubting Huo Sining and the two children could survive.

Just when they were ready to give up, suddenly, a head popped up out of the water, a few meters from the hill, brightening everyone’s eyes.

”It’s Hua Family’s big child, it’s the kid!”

Seeing the child sputtering in the water, apparently gulping some water, but still alive, Lao Wu got excited. Without bothering about his shoes, he dashed down and swiftly jumped into the water, swimming quickly towards the child.

At that moment, two more figures emerged, a young woman tugging another child, hastily swimming towards the shore.

Seeing Lao Wu, Huo Sining smiled. The two understood each other, each carrying a child as they headed to shore, quickly pulling the children back to safety. Villagers immediately gathered, hurriedly leading Huo Sining and the children away from the water, moving towards the hilltop.

”They’re soaked; hurry, get some branches and start a fire, don’t let the children freeze!”

Some villagers quickly broke branches and twigs, building a pile. Soon, a fire roared up. More villagers took off their clothes to wrap the children, while medics provided clean medical gowns for Huo Sining to change into.
