Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1774: Chapter 1676: Earthquake

Although there were many ups and downs, and continuous situations, ”The Legend of the Mermaid” finally wrapped up amid bumps and bruises.

When the last scene was filmed, and they heard Zheng Lixiang shout ”cut,” all the members turned their eyes toward Zheng Lixiang’s position, each showing nervousness and anticipation in their gaze.

”OK, done!”

Zheng Lixiang seemed to guess what everyone was thinking. She deliberately paused for a few seconds before she expressed that this take was done.

At this, everyone cheered in unison.

”Yo, at last, it’s over!”

Zheng Lixiang’s heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled. Her face was full of joy as she waved to everyone:

”Go back and have a good rest. At seven o’clock in the evening, we’ve prepared a wrap party for everyone at the Wenxiang Residence Banquet Hall. Don’t be late!”

Zheng Lixiang’s words were conveyed to everyone’s ears through the loudspeaker, and the whole filming site suddenly became a chaotic mix of cheers, whistles, and screams.

Huo Sining changed clothes and removed her makeup and was also lying relaxedly on a chair, her eyebrows curving with unstoppable laughter on her face. Thinking that next, she could go back to the Magic Capital and sleep in for a few days and enjoy some private world with Gu Xu and occasionally visit Antique Street to treasure hunt, she felt full of anticipation and utterly satisfied.

In order to complete the last filming of ”The Legend of the Mermaid” and leave enough time for post-production, in the last month, the entire crew had been shooting as if their lives depended on it. The main actors like them only had five or six hours of sleep every day. Even with the Water-Repelling Pearl, Huo Sining found it somewhat overwhelming.

At this time, Huo Sining finally realized the difficulty of actors like Shangguan Zhuo and Zhang Ziyi.

Even with Aura Protection, she felt strained, let alone ordinary people. With such intensive filming, Shangguan Zhuo, Zhang Ziyi, and others worked day and night without complaining. This made Huo Sining admire them from the bottom of her heart.

Having had this experience, Huo Sining no longer had the desire to enter the entertainment industry to act. It’s indeed not something just anyone can do. At least, she didn’t enjoy the process. She’d rather be among piles of rough stones or antiques, covered in dust, than live glamorously in the entertainment industry wearing a mask.

However, no matter what, after working hard for so long, Huo Sining still had great expectations for the finished product of ”The Legend of the Mermaid.” Although it was done for fun, she didn’t want her work to be a box office poison.

On the way back to the hotel, Huo Sining called over to Gu Xu and learned the result of the trial, which was not a surprise. She happily informed Gu Xu that the crew had wrapped up filming and she would be back soon, then hung up the phone.

Since there were still a few hours before the wrap party, Huo Sining set the alarm clock and lay down on the bed, falling asleep.

During this time, filming had consumed a lot of her energy, especially with the severe lack of sleep. Now that she finally laid down the heavy burden and no longer had to think about how to shoot the next scene, she naturally wanted a good sleep to recharge before attending the crew’s wrap party.

However, what Huo Sining didn’t expect was that she had just fallen asleep when she groggily felt the bed beneath her shaking violently. The water cup left on the table fell to the ground, and the violent shattering noise startled her awake.

Dizzy, she saw the chandelier on the ceiling shaking without stop. Huo Sining’s expression changed dramatically. In a second, she suddenly realized something.

This situation...

She almost instinctively ran towards the bathroom, an experience learned from surviving several massive earthquake disasters in her past life and watching TV.

In a high-rise building, don’t jump out of the window or get close to doors and windows. Don’t hide under beds or tables. Instead, choose corners of narrow spaces such as kitchens and bathrooms.

The shaking lasted for several minutes. During this time, dust and debris kept falling from above. Huo Sining put on a helmet and protective gear from the storage ring and even took out all the silk quilts and cotton quilts from it, piling these things on her, fearing that if the walls collapsed, the heavy objects falling would directly press down on her.

Huo Sining was on the 15th floor of the hotel, and under such circumstances, it was impossible to run out. She wasn’t like the people in martial arts novels who could leap between roofs, so in this situation, she had no choice but to choose such a way to save herself.

A few minutes were as hard to endure as centuries. After experiencing the room’s settings being toppled, glass shattering, plaster falling, and even water pipes bursting, the shaking gradually stopped.

Huo Sining no longer dared to stay inside the hotel, waiting passively. She immediately found an aerial wire rope from her Storage Space. Without caring too much, she firmly tied the safety belt on the wire to her waist and hooked the other end to the hotel’s window railing.

Once she confirmed the railing was stable enough to support her body weight, Huo Sining closed her eyes and steeled herself, directly jumping out the window along the wire, stepping on the hotel’s wall to quickly slide downward.

Fortunately, during this period, Huo Sining got used to hanging from wires during ”The Legend of the Mermaid” crew filming, so she performed this action quite skillfully. It took her less than a minute to slide down to the base from a fifteen-story tall building.

After getting downstairs, she didn’t delay any further and ran straight onto the main road.

There was chaos inside and outside the hotel. Many people were running out. After getting out of the building, without looking around, everyone ran toward the flat ground. It was a chaotic mix of cries and shouts, and the streets were filled with people fleeing in panic in all directions.

Huo Sining ran to a place far away from mountains and tall buildings, finally catching her breath.

No sooner had she sat down than the second tremor came. Huo Sining thought it was an aftershock. However, to her surprise, this tremor was even stronger than the feeling she had in the hotel the first time.

The sound of glass shattering, objects collapsing, and roadside trees almost breaking filled the air. Huo Sining sat on the ground with a strong sense of looseness beneath her feet, like the pulse of the Earth itself. Her whole face turned pale as she watched the hotel she had just escaped from split down the middle, a huge crack extending from the bottom to the top, and finally, with a loud crash, the entire building collapsed.

Not only the hotel she stayed in, but many of the low-rise buildings on the roadside also collapsed instantly. There was a more intense roar with each passing moment, and in such a short few minutes, countless buildings became ruins.

Seeing this scene, Huo Sining was instantly stunned, her mind going blank, with no thoughts left at all.
